Translation: Post-event interview

Q: On approaching this competition at less than your optimal physical condition, how do you feel about the SP and today’s FS?

A: Well, again, I feel regretful. Really regretful. To show everyone such a performance, I’m really sorry. Yes. Sorry, I will say it once more (laughs). Sorry. Honestly, at the end, to have to let “not at the optimal physical condition” become an excuse, I am very regretful. Although I think that when everyone watches my performance, they will first of all be worried whether my performance was affected by my injury or being unable to practice, honestly this is not the impact of the injury but my ability right now.

Q: For this competition, we heard that you did not want the support you received from the previous competition (COC) to go to waste and wanted to skate with thoughts of connecting it to the GPF. It has become connected to the GPF.

A: Indeed…Thank you very much. Frankly speaking I am very surprised, and also think that the competition in China did not go to waste.

Yeah I wondered about that too. I was hoping to see his Biellmann but weirdly he still stuck to the A spin... Could it be that he hasn't fully recovered from his back injury? :think:

For sure he's still in pain in some parts of his body. He did the Biellmann at CoC in the run-through.

Anyways someone on facebook said, Yuzuru did not practice his whole LP after CoC (she said it from an interview or something). Only until the official practice he made the first run-through since then. I'd say aside from his injuries which he said he didn't feel much pain (I doubt it, though), I think it's lack of preparation as well.

I feel so sorry for this kid…he has way too much on his mind and his shoulder… He is not skating for himself…if you are Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean…) you know what I mean. I honestly think the media has been glorifying him way too much and now they are killing him. Can’t they just leave him alone? He has to be out there analyzing what he has done wrong, and keeps blaming nothing but himself, over and over again. Especially the live interview in front of the whole audience (heck can’t they be a bit more considerate) right after the Free…he kept smiling while trying hard to hold back his tears…that breaks my heart. I just hope he can just go straight home and cry or squeeze his poohs to let out his emotions like a teenager he should be.
I really think he needs some time off to get pass the mental block. Sadly I am sure the Japanese media will tag along his ankles through the end until they find someone else for them to do the same. Ah!!!

There are a lot of meanings to the words I said, but at that point in time, I said “Owatta.” with despair. I did not know how about my next competition, and for now I just ended this painful competition, and there were some feelings of wanting to give up when I said “Owatta.”

As an Asian, I totally get what you mean. :hopelessness:
But let's face it, it's our culture and we can do nothing about it. We have to live on. What doesn't kill you will make you stronger. I am sure Yuzuru can make it.

about costume, maybe he got too much free time between COC and NHK and he decided he wanted to change it i cant decide which one i like more, was expecting worse so i am happy with either

Oh we could be called much, much worse. I think his own mother does a great job of supporting but not mollycoddling him.

For his costume, I think it might look horrible on a lot of people since it had maybe a little too much going on? But Yuzuru looks very handsome in it nonetheless ^_^ Reminds me of what Johnny Weir said about Yuzu, "Yuzu has a perfect body, so he looks good in anything!"

Now I guess I'm gonna have to track down some photos of his CoC free skate, or maybe, gasp! actually try and watch it again (I never did, only saw it that one time, a d never had the guts to see it again).
