I was more worried when he skated in coc and nhk and kept thinking that he's not supposed to skate after the collision but it was his decision to do so and i cant really do anything about it than to respect his decision.

His POTO is very lovely but i guess so many are doing the same theme for their program that hinders some to truly appreciate it.
not sure about the vocals though, maybe it will grow on me?(i hope so!) But i love it anyways so

just watch Yuzu's expression while singing to Music of the night during COC FS! have you ever seen a skater singing in a competition before ?

i second that!! seems to me that they make such a good team, but i have one question, does Buttle choreograph long programs as well?? ones i remember are only short programs, not for yuzu of course, other skaters as well

Awww...thank you! I pop by once in while to check the latest updates on this thread. It has definitely grown since I've started the thread 3 years ago. I am so glad Yuzuru is gaining a larger fan base, and people are starting to truly appreciate his skating and strong character

I'm hoping that Yuzuru and BOrser arrive in Barcelona Monday Dec 8, which would give them a couple of days to work together before official practice starts. Yuzuru's birthday is Dec 7, and BOrser finishes with Nam's competition Dec 7. Javi is already in Spain. Cricket boys together again!

I think most skaters, if given the option, would choose to skate 2nd or 3rd. Apparently skating right after the 6min warm-up has its downside too. But as Oda-san recently said on TV, an able skater can skate the same anywhere, anytime, regardless of the condition of the ice.

Yes, you are right. This article indicates that Yuzuru's participation in the two competitions are forced by the feudal system existed in Japanese sports field, like Senpai-Kohai relationship. Also, the motive of JSF and Japnese media who desparately need a star, as Daisuke and others retired, and Mao is not performing this season.
And the article concludes that Japanese promissing athletes should go aboroad, not training in Japan.

I'm not going to deny the above totally, but still there are so many good systems to train young athletes in Japan. Besides, not all of them can afford to be trained abroad. And it is Yuzuru who decided to participate.

In any case, don't take this article too seriously. Gendai is one of the infamous gossip media in Japan.

From what I could string up from the kanji & hiragana I could read; it says that after the retirement of the more popular members of Team Japan (Miki, Dai, Akko [my poor Nobu's not even mentioned]) and Mao's year off the bulk of the task to maintain figure skating's popularity in the country and to keep the money from the sponsors coming lies with Yuzu.

It also discussed and gave examples of those in power "bullying" the athletes (i.e Hashimoto "harassing" Dai, punishing student athletes by making them eat bugs or drink kerosene, the suicide of the basketball captain who was slapped in the face by their coach to toughen them up). That sports is Japan is guided by the archaic code of absolute obedience to authority that was rooted in their military ways. [Hopefully someday JSF will experience Yuzu's "He would hear none of it" moments, unless Shizuka/Dai/Mao replaces everyone before that time comes]

The last couple of paragraphs says that if parents wants their kids to become professional athletes, sending them out of Japan is the best solution (i.e Kei Nishikori) where they could grow and be taken care of because being an athlete in Japan sucks [that is me paraphrasing because my brain reached it's quota].

In any case, although I agree with how the athletes are treated, it was Yuzu's decision and as a fan even if I don't agree with it; all I can give him is my trust that he knows his body and abilities better and that in times like this my support matters to him.

I agree with SuzyQ. The Gendai, the source of the article, is a kind of media which carries naked women on every issues.
Besides, only first three paragraphs are talking about Yuzuru & figure skating.

That's funny, I was just watching another news clip of the same interview but at a different angle. I couldn't help but laughed when I saw this part....poor boy being surrounded by so many media reporters and cameramen....at least he knows how to lighten up the atmosphere a bit

Yes I agree. It would probably help calm his nerves to hang out with Javi before the competition. I can see the headlines now: Cricket boys take on Barcelona!
