What I don't like about Kovtun's Bolero is that the music builds over the program, and yet his content starts big and then gets easier over the program. That aspect seems glaring to me. Can't argue the technical accomplishments however.
There's not a single skater who could do 2 quads and a triple axel during the second half of the program. Furthermore, it's not about the content, it's about the presentation. If anything, it's better to have the tough content at the beginning so that you can do good presentation for the more powerful parts. Jumps generally tend to hurt presentation so this in my opinion is in fact a better way to build the program.
With that said, I do think that Kovtun's presentation and presence in general is rather lacking. Perhaps the second-worst after Voronov. Fernandez is my favorite at it, wish he could actually land his stuff however.




If you're gonna give Hanyu and Fernandez such scores with falls, at least score everyone else accordingly...
