I admit I'm a little skeptical about this. He never managed it with NDP and R&J 2.0, and even if he may be more "excited" about the music this time (even if just a handful of us are), I think the layout will keep him from doing so. The jumps suffocates the program and he can't divide his attention between the two, that's what it takes to be overly ambitions :drama: I don't think he will change things a bit anytime soon, but who knows, maybe he will suprise me. I hope so at least. :yes: However, i'm looking forward for it at Nationals since he's healthy and would be expecting it at 4CC/Worlds if the transitions were the only thing coming back.

Ship them all! Make a large luxury cruiser and let them all sail away into the sunset together. -But if Morozov tries to sneak on board, throw him over the side!
BTW: These are actually congratulatory flowers for a concert. Sarah has recently gotten over an illness one of the side-effects of her medication was that she could not hear pitch correctly. It was nice of Hanyu to send her flowers. Miki has also sent her flowers in the past. She's good friends with a few figure skaters.

With respect, I strongly disagree with this...

Hanyu's jumps at GPF were sublime - he made extremely difficult jumps look effortless and beautiful. They were choreographed to the music (eg. landed the 4T right on the music). He doesn't telegraph his jumps, he has steps/transitions/choreography before and after them, and he "flows" in and out of them.

Of all skaters, I'd say his jumps now look the most "integrated" into the overall performance, they are the least distracting or disruptive (except falls of course LOL), and I think Hanyu even uses them to carry some expression. That is what he wanted to achieve, and he is starting to deliver it now. I think his jumps are far, far from "suffocating" the program...!

Hanyu has also progressed quite a lot since Notre Dame and Romeo & Juliet #2, so I wouldn't discount him on that basis.

^I agree. Other skaters' jumps seem to be out of the program (Kovtun or Voronov are just two examples). Yuzu's jumps look natural and match the music. The same I see at Machida right now. :think:

My limited english vocabulary caught me again :laugh: What I meant by "suffocating" it's that it doesn't allow him to develop other aspects of the performance. Of course the jumps are the highlight, and I've already expressed my love for his jumps, of course he also has good spins, skating skills (even if it's more evident at his SP), but I think that he kind of "wings" the choreography when he's too focused on the jumps, apart of the timing of the jumps with the music. It happens at almost all of his free skates I think, and that's a habit that didn't changed much from his NDP and R&J 2.0, even if other aspects have progressed immensely. That's what is keeping me to really like his POTO, in my opinion this is his biggest flaw and I hope that he will adress it. It's much much harder to do it because of the layout, that's my point, but as you've said he's progressing so maybe it's possible. I don't know, let's see at Nationals :biggrin:
 
I agree.At the age of 17,Yuzuru said jumps are also the component of performance.That is to say he is always trying to make his jumps natural and fit his program.He's very smart(he deserves to be discribed like this) and he thinks more independently than other skaters,which can be shown in his cooperation with Jeffrey Buttle and many other aspects.We shouldn't suspect him and his coach as thoughtless at all.

Wow, that's incredible. It looks so effortless is seems easy. Like when D/R did it in their FS it looks so easy you think it's a triple. Then when you remember/realize it's so difficult it's all the more impressive.

After all the complaints about judging, and the early season difficulties I was rooting for him to do really well. And he silenced the critics completely. Anyone whose still being critical, needs to get over themselves and appreciate the sport for what it is or go away.

His exhibition was :love: The music is incredible and he doubles the magic with his effortless skating over the ice. That's why I love Yuzuru and Yulia's skating. It may be interrupted by a fall at which point all many people can see is the fall missing the forest for the trees, but the rest of the time all I see is effortless flying over the ice where the jumps are not not just a means to an end but flow with the program. Granted at some competitions there are too many falls at which point that no longer happens. Anyway what is the point of the negativity people post. It doesn't change the results, it won't change the opinions of the others, and if it's negative enough it's just insulting not only to the skater and their teams, but to their fans.

I will definitely be rooting for him and Javier to take 1/2 in whatever order at Worlds this year. (Maybe they could tie? On SP TES & PCS, and FS TES PCS. At that point would the ISU grant two Gold Medals?)
