What I mean is, "brought to ruin"--in the context of tragedy, the fiction genre--usually means death from a practical standpoint. Most great tragedies end with the hero's death. That would be an oddly phrased way to explain a death, but yes, a tragedy could end with death. That's a pretty safe statement to make considering everything ends in death.
"Brought to ruin OR suffers extreme sorrow": evidently, just feeling really terrible is a tragedy in itself? But that ties back into the sorrow, the melancholy. Obviously, there is a whole story contained within R&J, I am not sure why we keep discussing the 'death' part of it, as I never stated or implied that Julia's performance contained some kind of death... just that it was tragic.
Well, as sjid brought up, the program shouldn't have been titled R&J if all thoughts of death were to be avoided -- just causes a lot of confusion for everybody...
I'm not sure if her R&J program is the problem as the layout. There's too much time between Julia's first 2 jumping passes (which she almost always nails) until the next ones and for some reason she loses her concentration or makes a mistake and just unravels.
I hope she sees a good sports psychologist who can help her through her issues and she can comeback strong next year. She has to realize when she makes a mistake, she can fight back and not let it ruin her program.

Like most persons on this forum, I am a JL fan, and whilst disappointed with the final result of the Russian championships, this is not the time to be overly worried. My own daughter is the same age and height/build as Julia, and is a very good athlete. However she is also going through the growth spurt and changing from a teenager to a young woman. To say how it has affected her athletic ability as well as her confidence, would be an understatement. As a parent, I am waiting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, (I can see a chink of light) when all the bodily changes have finally taken place. The time to worry is not now, but when Julia is 17/18 years of age. If then she cannot complete the various requirements of ice skating, as well as being seen to have improved not only in her skating skills but artistically as well, then that is the time to really start asking questions about her career and the Olympics 2018. Mother nature in all shapes and sizes, and by many means is a force to be reckoned with, and nobody has yet found a true answer to deal with it. Nor will they ever find an answer. Julia needs to take a break, finish her studies (which must be playing on her mind), sort her boot problem out, have the next piece of music firmly in her head, and let her body continue to change and develop as it is going to, and then come back to show them it was just one season of change that caused the problems. Even Illa Overbuch has made reference to this on Russian TV today. I simply don't believe you can go from being Olympic medal holder, European Champion, and second in the World Championships at ones chosen sport, then become a novice in a matter of months, which is the impression that the haters are gaining at the moment.

I wonder if that Rabbit with the stripes was thrown by Rhodium and his girlfriend. He used to post he a lot after Sochi and they threw her a rabbit with a red coat just like the one from SL last summer at one of her shows. Yulia posted it on her VK page. She has really amassed some nice fans along the way![]()

"The mood was excellent, but only lasted for the first half. Why, I do not know how to explain. Hard. A tough season, but I'll try to come back", - said Yulia Lipnitskaya.
I hope Liza's come back will help Yulia feel strong. Liza also dropped to 10th place last season. And now she is back again. Yulia certainly doesn't loose hope. Liza can do it, Yulia can do it too. At least now that she has more time for herself. I wish her all the best. Stay strong baby!Don't know if this was posted or not.
