Sinitsina/Katsalapov future prospects

For example when katsalapov dropped sinitsina at NHK it just reiterated all his problems.

I'm not sure what this has to do with my post... I'm not talking about the issues either new team exhibits on ice, nor am I speaking about whether or not a sports psychologist would be beneficial. I think those are both valid. I'm talking about the attacks on people's character which continue to be all over these threads.

I've posted my thoughts on that fall in the past as have many, so I have no desire to rehash something that's already been beaten like a dead horse. The fact of the matter is every skater/pair/team will either figure out where their weaknesses lie and will work on/correct them as best they can (which doesn't happen over night), or they won't and will muddle through with the same issues and be surpassed. For the selfish sake of my viewing pleasure, I always hope that skaters will improve as it makes viewing and the competition much more interesting.

Nikita's character gets attacked because of things he and Marina say to the media about Elena. He is also good friends with Trankov who started verbally attacking Ruslan on Instagram. Ruslan did nothing to warrant that kind of treatment. I'm sure Nikita had his reasons for wanting to split but I am also sure he is no saint either. He could have put out a respectful statement, thanking Elena for her part on their accomplishments and have been done with it. It's the classy thing to do. Instead He allowed Marina to set up a PR attack on her and her character. To this day Elena and her team have said nothing bad about him or Victoria. I think that's where people become irritated with him.

For the record, I wasn't singling out Nikita. I've come to Elena's defense in the past too. In all honestly, I just don't like seeing people being unreasonably and unnecessarily staunch on their stance that either one are somehow bad people when we only have what they've said or supposedly said in interviews to go off of and a whole lot of flat out personal opinions and gossip.

I understand everything you're saying. Trust me, I followed their split and the fall out from the first talk of it (as evidenced in old threads). I've read everything that's been publicly stated from both camps; and I agree that Marina and S/K didn't handle the split graciously. (Which, unsurprisingly, I think is tactless and uncalled for as well.) I am under no illusion that Nikita is a saint, LOL.
I just don't get going back to that type of talk always. A discussion about the actual skating always derails into irrelevant territory.

Oh no! You didn't offend at all, no worries! I agree with you. I don't think there's any need to split; and it would be good if they could meet in the middle and build. I really want to see everyone be successful!

Nikita dropping viktoria was a symbolic reminder of him dropping Elena and not only that what it did was severely damage marina Nikita PR spin in public that Elena was responsible for all problems in the I/k partnership. So that is a major reason why people are still talking about the split. Of course if you love Elena you have every reason to be happy as she is the best place in her entire career. Having a good partner, champion, gpf First season, euro frontrunners. It's all good for her but the marina Nikita PR was so bad as has been mentioned. And then nikita goes and drops his new partner? It just brings everything back! Why he is not even a medalist at this years russian nationals! Beaten in tech by zahorski Guerrero!

Well, I don't mind S&K splitting in the sense that Viktoria may just want to rescue her career before it's too late. I don't think Niki is someone who needs more benefit of the doubt IMO. He lost I&K several Euro Champs/Worlds/better medals already. He had a lot of time to prove himself. He simply isn't very good at lifting girls. Whether it's a mental problem or a lack of physical core, Niki blew it many times already.

Niki is frequently involved in Byzantine intrigues that are just a huge turn-off or attraction for some.

I read some comments that he is a brilliant ice dancer.... There are so many better male ice dancers out there. He isn't better than Guillaume Cizeron, is he? Cizeron is the ideal male ice dancer IMO with a posture as sublime as Curry.

I also prefer Cizeron to Nikita. They have both amazing skating skills, but Cizeron knows how to present his partner much better and is very, very expressive. I`ve found Nikita always a little bit bland, even when he was skating with Elena, with Victoria it just became worse.

I think he especially is trying way too hard. Victoria posted a pic of them already back on the ice I think on NY day. Although it may be that they want to practice with the assistance of the Russian technical specialists? Vikita just need to forget about the past. They are a new team. Their trajectory will have nothing to do with any other team; work hard, smart and patiently and the results will come.

Mah I don't care much about this team, whether they will do well or not since their programs are just too generic to me.
They won't break up for sure, at least this season. Because if they do so they are hopeless. They were the one who initiated the split in the first place, now they have to live with it and make use of it. That's simple.

I read Nikita asked to spent new year with his family in Russia but Zoueva not allowed him. Either Zoueva on full PR mode or she wants Nikita close to her all the time. We all know what will happen If you not monitor Nikita's movements every second like Elena.

It's a difficult time for her really. All her teams are struggling relatively speaking. I would have thought that everyone would have benefited from a good rest.

Well, the Shibs can`t rest, because their are preparing for Nationals. It`s going to be a tough competition for them if they don`t nail those levels. I wonder why she didn`t allow Nikita to stay a few days in Russia, though. I get that S/K have to be prepared for the Universiade, but I can imagine that both don`t have much opportunity to see their families in Russia, besides their preparation for Nationals seems to have been very intense, so a few days rest would have been justifiable.

I don`t think there are a lot of options left in Russia. Neither Kustarova nor Zhulin would take them. That leaves Zhuk, who already is coaching S/B. I think if they are going to switch coaches it`s going to be someone in the Detroit area.

What about her other teams in Detroit? Shouldn't she be preparing them for their nationals? The Universiade is close to US Nationals, not so? Something doesn't feel right to me....S/K should be using this time to mount a charge for next season. Or is it because they're first alternates for the team. :scratch:

Who knows what the RSF has told Zueva. Nobody knows if B/S are going to be ready for Euros/Worlds, but if not maybe the option sending S/K to Worlds instead of S/B is still there. Only of course if they manage to get the minimum TES at Universiade. But this is all speculation now, we will see how S/K will skate at Universiade. They kind of need this competition for a redemption in front of international judges.

I understand what you're saying but to take away that chance from a team that has rightfully earned their spot on the team for one that hasn't gelled yet is not the sportsmanlike choice. Considering their technical issues and the difficulty of the waltz for next season I thought they'd call it a day and choose to get ahead of the game.

I also think that it wouldn`t be fair to take the chance away from S/B to gain international exposure, but in the past the RSF also changed the team between Euros and Worlds, so it is possible.
