Yulia Lipnitskaya

Don't worry about her privacy, her VK page has over 300 thousand subscribers. That's more readers than most newspapers have  I don't think she considers it a private space at this point.

Gosh, I didn't pay attention to that! Scary! It IS a very public place then! She can't even exchange private messages as her pages are known to have been hacked into.
Why does she keep it then?

I don't know where did you saw that much enthusiasm. I found about this just a weak ago, and I took it for what it is. A poll in a French newspaper for the teenagers. That's nice, for Yulia and her fans I suppose, but don't worry. It's not that we think she has won Olympics for that.

I saw it on twitter. It wasn't not against you. I gave simply some details and my opinion.

I guess even Yulya doesn't have the heart to turn all those fans away :)

I know it wasn't against me, but 33 RT and 34 favorites, It's hardly that much of enthusiasm as you call it.
There are more RT and Favorites for a tweet of IMG, congratulating their clients D&R and W&P. ;)

It would be curious to see what her page was like before she turned into a celebrity. :)

I followed her before Sochi and although I don't follow her VK page I visited it a few times and she had maybe 150 friends and under 1000 followers prior to Sochi. I think now she has like 70 friends and more than 300,000 followers.

Have you ever seen the interview after Skate Canada where she gets a kick out of the fact that the crowd cheers so loud for Kaetlyn Osmond and Gracie Gold when they take the ice. Then they announce Julia Lipnitskaia....crickets.

Yulia wants to communicate with her fans. She is as loyal to her fans as they are to her. Recall all her apologies for letting down those who support her. She takes this very seriously and there are things she wants to share, such as The End followed by the smiling sun. Her social media may be the only outlet she has to set the record straight. Her objection is not that people pay attention to her. She tells us this is a source of strength. She is plagued by how her behavior is scrutinized and misinterpreted. In her words, ”Whatever you do, everything is interpreted the wrong way and then has to be justified. It’s not life, it’s constant stress."

As for the sports gamble, her mother said we will try, and if it doesn't work out you will go to school in Moscow. She has an artistic temperament and reacts strongly to situations, several people who know her well have told us this. I am sure she doesn't see her situation as ideal and has many negative thoughts, but she is a long way from giving up. It will take more than one R&J. We can't abandon our identities as if they were friendships gone bad.

Internet has really changed human relationships, a new psychology is emerging, it's fascinating. The virtual world has fostered a sort of public intimacy. People spend most of their time communicating outside traditional relationships, they become comfortable with saying anything to their nebulous cyber-public. With some it resembles an electronic confessional. When in groups it's common that more people are texting than talking to each other. The next level will be robot intimacy.

Nope, I didn't see the interview. Could you provide me with a link?

I don't have it but we discussed it here back in the summer here. It's buried deep in this thread. If I get some free time today (at work  ) Ill search around a bit.

I saw lot of people enthusiasm about this news. I will be more nuanced. It's not a very known newspaper and it's for the teenagers in France. When we saw the names, it looks not a very serious newspaper. Manaudou is in retreat since 2 years. How can we have her in the list "sportwoman of the year" ? Nathalie Péchalat is more known since DALS for Dujardin than for her sport (lot of his new fans believe she's world or olympic champion...). So, it's very strange to see Julia first. In the very known newspapers, she isn't cited in the 10 sportmen/women of the year (What I say isn't against her but against the newspaper).

Yulia the Guru

She said that she answered everyone individually until there were too many to answer. She now communicates primarily with pictures instead.

And now I think less social media might be better. I just don't want her to read any nasty comments.

It seems, there will be some changes. Laishev as an active Manager, began to do something. He, apparently, on the advice Gorshkov, has appointed Chaikovskaya senior figure skating coach in Sambo. Now it is over Eteri and can affect learning. So you can achieve two goals. 1. To avoid a scandal because of the change of coach. 2. In fact, to change the coach. But can her tear Julia from the view of the press, television, Internet messages and other things?

Sorry I don't understand this.

Is there any sign of her changing the coach?

@Alba.
Now she is the boss Eteri. It can profoundly interfere with learning. How far this will go is still unknown.
What is clear is that Laishev not satisfied with the results of the season and he will try to fix it.

Learning? Or training?
Apart from Yulia buckling under pressure and fatigue, Eteri has been doing a tremendous job with her team. I don't see any reason for being unhappy. Ah well. Russian way of doing things, as ever.

Well, in all honesty as far as Eteri is concerned her results are very good so far.
Yulia was not doing well, but it's hardly a reason not be satisfied with Eteri. First of all it was Yulia's post Olympic season, and it's not the end of the world for a season gone wrong. Second, she has many other students which are doind very well. Most probably this is a move to release her from some responsibilities, so she can cope better with her workload as a coach.
Furthermore, let's not forget that there is also a question of funding between clubs and Tchaikovskaia is a big name with huge influence in Russia. I think it's a good move for the benefits of the club, not a punishment against anyone.
