I was 21, he was 26. (It's best to "catch" them young, in my opinion, before they develop too many bad habits.;))

By the way, when I was telling him about our whole nail conversation, I didn't get very far before he interrupted me and said that obviously, their husbands would be the last people anyone would want to have pictures on their nails of. See, there are reasons I'm fond of the fellow. :) ;)

Oh, by the way - October bride here! (my birthday no less - do you think this makes him remember my birthday/our anniversary any better?... no, of course not!... but since I'm rotten with dates myself, this has never been a bone of contention between us. Actually, I sometimes even forget my own age. My 2013 birthday I even spent a day or two thinking I was 43 - and then it struck me that: hey, wait a minute - that can't be right, can it? So, when I realised I was "only" 42... I felt quite young. And since this was, sort of, my second time of turning 43, that didn't bother me either. There are advantages to everything - or almost. But I'm digressing terribly, aren't I?)

That's a five age difference between Mr. P and I too! However, when I was 21 and he was 26, we didn't even know of each other's existence. We weren't even living in the same state in the U.S. then.

We met when I was 24 and he was 29. We started dating a month shy of my 25th (his his 30th) birthday. Our birthdays are only three days apart! (I'm April 10, he's April 13 and my older brother is April 12). We got married about two years later, at age 27 and 32.

And now I'm 32. :)

Speaking of ages--I think a big reason I would be creeped out with having Jason photo nails is because he's so young relative to yours truly. I mean...I would feel a bit, uh, weird of having the image of someone who is 12 years younger than me staring right at me. (Especially since I spend much of my day, well, looking at my nails while typing). I would feel that way with any 20-year-old honestly. :laugh:

Also in the rare occasion I do wear nail polish--I would be more about having a bright color than a photo.

It is a bit odd, but my guess is it is someone who just does their nails a lot and eventually you start running out of ideas and think people's faces are a nice change. I liked the Juke and T&I color scheme nails much better.

I did enjoy the colour-scheme nails, but I don't see that as any different to the Australian Olympians painting theirs green and gold, for example. Someone's face, on the other hand...


Anyway, here's the link to Jason's instagram post for #ThrowBackThursday - his message about him and Josh is longer and just as cute. I do have one complaint though - it was far, far too early for my senses to be assaulted with that level of adorable! :laugh:

Thx Golden; I liked the USFS official taking Jason's middle seat so that Jason can have the aisle. I guess USAFA is throwing its support to Jason. :laugh:

The Japanese twitter feed appears to have both practice reports and an interview with Jason. Bing translation about "Jason players" can be pretty stilted, but it appears to confirm the tasty dumplings (and a "sharp" 3A!) I have no idea what it actually says.

Thx for pointing that out; that really is disappointing. Particularly since the Colorado Springs paper is the "hometown" paper of the training base for so many skaters. Oh well. :shrug:
 
Um, I don't see mention of Max Aaron anywhere in the article? Did I miss something?

Looks like they corrected it.

They had said Max was part of an American sweep at Junior worlds. It was not derogatory, just got some wires crossed. If anything they were trying to plug another local skater.

Mrs. P, what happened is that the original version of the story listed Josh, Jason, and Max as the U.S. men who swept 2013 junior worlds -- with a reference to Max as another Colorado Springs skater.

Yesterday, yours truly e-mailed the reporter -- whose primary beat is hockey -- to politely inform him of his error. He quickly responded with a cordial reply and removed the reference to Max.

I give the reporter the benefit of the doubt that his intentions were good in wanting to include a mention of Max as another hometown success story :) -- but b/c figure skating is not the reporter's expertise, he got confused about the facts.
 
Or maybe he mixed up the podium from 2010 Nationals, which included those three. Mistakes happen. Glad he corrected it.

The original mistake was:
In 10 years, they have stood on the medals podium together nine times including an American sweep at the 2013 world juniors with Farris first, Brown second and area-based skater Max Aaron in third.​

My first knowledge of the article was via a third-party tweet at 1:31 pm Colorado Springs time.
I didn't get around to e-mailing the reporter until 4:40 pm Springs time (6:40 pm ET), and the article was updated by 5:05 pm Springs time (approx. the same time that I received his e-mail reply).​

So it's unfortunate that the mistake happened in the first place, but I too am glad that it was resolved pretty quickly.

Good for you and good for the reporter!:cheer2: No problems if mistakes happen, if they're corrected.

Like stalking a 3A?:laugh2: Not that I consider that a "mistake"....

On his facebook page there was this orange stripy cat... I've decided that he can't be a bad person at heart - he probably means well.;)
 
Great job Jason! And he's skating last in the FS. He's had that draw for his last four major ISU championships. (Jr. Worlds 2012, Jr. Worlds 2013, Olympics 2014 and this year's worlds). He is only 1.57 points from third.

Crazy part is he STILL left points on the table with a level 3 spin and none of his usual +3 on his spins on steps. Alas, i hope he gets al level 4s and +3 tomorrow!
