2015 Worlds Free Dance March 27

I honestly didn't think the judges would let P/C win, I thought they would get held down a little bit but the score is so big and they had a visible error too, the program is really beautiful though, it'll be hard to top next year

And I think you can like whatever you want to like. My favourite free dance tonight was in the 3rd flight.

Mine as well. I actually tuned out of the final group. I think I appreciated the final group's FDs in the grand prix events more now rather than in Shangia

Maybe this is payback for not giving the world title to Pechalat and Bourzat last year.

I was meaning more their fans on this thread. :) I can understand needing to leave and take some time to compose yourself.

Can we all agree on one thing here, despite the fact that we may differ or disagree over the placements? I'm gonna put it out there:

The correct three teams made the podium.

Am disappointed that there wasn't room for C/L this year after their stunning, exhilarating win last year, but they were just not up to snuff this season.

Congrats to all the winners, and P/C for Gold! A little perplexing that half the comments in this thread seemed to want P/C to win the competition just so others would lose...

Yes. I've been reading the comments on Ice Dance all competition and noticed this as well. I can't figure out why the hate for Chock & Bates but oh well. I enjoyed all the couples tonight.

AGREED! I wish the Shibs could have been there too, but yes- the correct 3 teams were on the podium.

Kaitlyn and andrew seem to be accepting defeat as best as they could. They lost their chance at world champion status and they are heartbroken- they have a right to feel that way.

I agree. I think there's a fine line between unsportsmanship-like behaviour (not congratulating your opponents, taking off your medal) and feeling disappointment & not able to mask your feelings. I think W/P will have to come back strong next year and win the world title like D/R have this year!

I know. What a strange turn of events, to see Russia dominating in singles and struggling in Pairs and Dance. Crazy times.

We must be of a similar age, because I know exactly what you are talking about.

No Russians on the pairs or dance podiums, and they lose a spot in dance?

Even stranger, for many years it's been a given that the Canadians and Americans will both have 3 teams in Ice Dance.

And for nearly 10 years the Americans have lost their iron clad guarantee of three ladies. Now, it's a happy accident if that happens.

That's their challenge: can they top themselves or even live up to this material? They might choose horrible material next year, they may not. Who knows? And next year, we've got C/B with home field advantage given that they'll be competing in Boston, and W/P will be fighting back, hopefully with their trademark experimental / adventurous material like "Maria de Buenos Aires" or "Je Suis Malade". Vivaldi was too safe for them. Hopefully they will be bold and daring in their music choice.

This was a huge win not just for P/C but also for the Montreal ice dance school. Now Marie-France, Patrice and Romain are all training the world champions. They've got the Danes and Spaniards here as well, and they'll likely be motivated to perform better and improve next year with that kind of energy, working with them on a daily basis.

Well frankly it was a very mediocre year for FDs. Shoot me now, but I'm saying it. P/C had the best FD of the year but no, that was not a 112 point performance of it.

And you shoot me again because I still say that C/B had the second best program of the year. Stellar work from Igor. Adult, sophisticated, intricate.

Just be sure to bury me someplace nice, m'okay? With a view. :)

Agree so much - P/C's FD really stood out, and C/B were deserving silver medalists. And I started the season rooting for W/P the most.

:agree:

Sorry but I do like C/L but I can't quite agree. Well I can agree that they weren't quite up to snuff. I kept thinking as I watched then about a variation of that usual disclaimer when you see a movie. Something along the lines of "This is not a coincidence. Both skaters have been packaged as carefully as possible to remind you of Virtue & Moir." :)

I root for all the Americans but watching Cizeron and Papadakis (mostly Cizeron) skate gives me chills and move me with this program every time so i have to go with that. However, I'm sure C/B & W/P feel like they we're just got kicked in the gut. I'm sure they didn't see that coming... especially W/P. I didn't see that one coming..not yet.

How did they react? Is there a footage on Youtube?

has any team ever gone from 13 the year before to the podium, let alone gold? I like this French team a lot... so I am not dissing them... but it's a drastic move....
