Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

At first I was thinking that Yuzu should not participate in World Team Trophy (in favor of rest, recovery, etc.), but now I am hoping that he does. I am sure that aside from the disappointment of not winning, is the disappointment of not skating how he wanted and not being able to skate Phantom to its full potential. World Team Trophy would be an opportunity for him to do that. He cannot go back and win Worlds, that one is in the history books, but he can achieve a sense of satisfaction and closure if he is able to skate the program well. It also would give him an opportunity to help out Team Japan which might soothe the sting of the men losing a spot for Worlds next year.

Orser said that Yuzu needed, "a few more weeks." Well, WTT is in a few more weeks, so the timing seems ideal. Anyway, I am sure that Yuzu's team will do what is best. If he does participate, I will be watching, and if he doesn't, I will still be watching to support the others.

Well, a healthy Yuzuru = no one can do anything to him. That's my take. And even an unhealthy Yuzuru can still claim silver at WC. That's amazing. BUT....

I don't want to think that JSF will find someway to score him less and other higher as they are running out of favor for him. But his lost levels at Nationals made me wonder. I hope it was just coincidence.
And I don't want to think that Yuzuru has to tire himself out for ice shows and events which affects his training just because he fells obligated to "pay back" for the fed. However, that already happened this summer.
I don't want to believe in those thoughts, but that is what I am afraid of as Yuzuru is stubborn and sometimes the organization don't like stubborn people.

But that's another story for another year... So to be honest I am glad Yuzuru intends to retire after 2018 because his health might not be in his favor, and maybe his federation as well. Which I dreadful hope that wi whill bot be true.

I think this will be my last time adressing this but you are talking about ipotetical things, things that aren't happening and may or may not happen. But you sure talk like you are certain they will happen

He lost those levels at Nationals because you know he simply didn't reach those levels,it wasn't the first time and most likely won't be the last time in his career that he's not level 4.And you probably noticed that the judging was quite strict on that competition.Stop trying to see a conspiracy where there's none by overanalyzing every single thing

Yuzu isn't a baby anymore and I don't know if it's just me but I feel like he matured so much after CoC.
I choose to trust his judgement to do what's best for him and that he now knows where is his limit.I also choose to believe that JSF learned this lesson and wouldn't do anything to harm him especially since in recent months they looked after him so well.

I'm sorry if my tone may seem harsh but this isn't the first time you picture JSF in such a bad light and accuse them of rigging results(I am also a fan of Satoko and you really tried hard on that one)without any proof. You shouldn't throw accusations so serious so easily since you're attacking the integrity of a lot of people officials, judges even the skater himself

As for the jumping issue maybe his recent 'weigh gain' has something to do with it on top of his lack of training and muscle loss.He simply didn't have enough time to prepare and get used to his body.
I just wanna pinch his cheeks he looks soooo cute

the whole post
I hope what you say is true and let's put an end to this. But I will wait for this summer, and for next season to see if my suspicions have some root or not. Because IMO, I still doubt that Yuzuru can escape a "busy schedule" soon. Can he have proper training for next season? That remains to be seen.
And I will wait for next season to see how they score the jump GOE for some skaters, because they way I see it now, I don't believe they're being fair for skaters who have true jumping quality.

I don't think the weight gain is that much. But his air position is very tilled, his land posture is lean which (sorry) reminds me of Yuna at WC2011. Yuzuru needs a coach besides for proper preparation, and that coach must be someone who understand him well. I hope this will put an end for those bashing comments about Orser, or to those who said Orser has little support to Yuzuru's archivmentents. He lacked his coach for 3 months, and his air position has suffered.

I finally had time to read back through the posts since the FS. Goodness there is a tendency toward melodrama on this forum!

Let's not forget the facts here: Yuzu had surgery between Nationals and Worlds. He was laid up for 6 weeks, then sprained his ankle (it must have been a bad sprain) and was laid up for another two. He was without his coach and proper training for three months. Given those factors it's unbelievable he could win the SP and the silver overall. What an accomplishment! Yes, his air position was off on some of his jumps, but he also landed some beautiful ones during practice. It's not his weight gain (which although I'd be the first to admit he looks much better), but rather lack of training. Pure and simple.

I don't think the JSF is disappointed in him in any way. How could they be? Japan losing three spots had everything to do with Mura and Kozuka skating so poorly. I'm sure Yuzu now realizes how important it is to put his health and training above everything else and will cut back on the nonstop ice shows, appearances and commercials. He needs to spend way more time at the CC this summer and less in Japan if he's going to be ready for next season.

I'm so excited to have Worlds in my country next year and I'll be in Boston cheering Yuzu on. :cheer::cheer2: It's about time he take the US by storm!

Congratulations to Yuzuru for his World Silver Medal. :) I wish him health and some rest after this.

My wishes for next season:

1) New LP by Buttle
2) Keep Chopin
3 ) Take rest
4) Get rid of quad salchow for quad loop
Agreed. I love you Yuzuru, but those POTO vocals need to go. The SP should stay, since it's beautiful and hasn't yet been skated clean. Not sure about 4S vs. 4Lo, but if the 4Lo isn't less consistent, go for it.

My words as a fan of Shoma!

I guess yuzu himself had learnt it hard the consequence of being unhealthy, so I believe yuzu start to take his health seriously.

I'm guessing that at this rate, we might be able to see all three cricket brothers on the podium in the next world's? Or even gpf? That sounds fun:biggrin:

Have they started to sell tickets of single competition? I only saw the price for all-events tickets.

It could very well happen, Nam's result was one of the most pleasant surprises for me at these Worlds. Once his jumps start getting a bit more powerful, I think he can play with the big guys. But Patrick's return is a huge factor in this, so we'll have to wait and see.
But can you imagine, much like these Worlds picture of Yuzuru and Javier sitting with Brian at the K&C with both of their medals on his neck, that they had one but with Nam and a third medal? It would be priceless.

Many people overestimate the political influence and the strategies of the JSF. IMHO, there is only one thing for sure, the JSF is quite inefficient in making the best to promote their best skaters and playing the political game well. The best example is Mao Asada. What kind of federation would chose Shin Amano as a technical specialist for their events and end up harming their best skater, with questionable calls and much lower scores than she could get (the same goes for Daisuke Takahashi)? What kind of federation is actually more strict in their own national events and choses referees that scrutinize their skaters' jumps to the point that even Wakaba got some ur calls? I don't think they manipulate any score/results, it's actually amazing how such a rich federation can act like that. And don't worry about Hanyu, judges all around the world love our Yuzu (and rightfully so), as he almost won these worlds even with 3 huge mistakes.

I think the same way.

Yuzuru seems to have such regret about his failure in controlling of Salchow jump.

I think he always is frustrated with his failures, more than losing to someone.
So, he might be thinking that WTT would be a good chance for him to restore or confirm his condition.
This is my personal opinion though.

I would be happy if I can see him in WTT, conditioned he would not participate in so many shows this off season ;)

First time I've seen a photo of Yuzu's mom in the audience....she looks so worried about him. :hopelessness: I guess whatever worries we had, his mother felt that 100x over. I'm sure this seasons been hard for his family too.....

Honestly, I would be much happier if he does not need to attend WTT; but it seems that he can hardly get away from it.

She's been watching him pay with his health for his successes. I suppose every parent would wonder inside what if she hadn't taken him to that rink on that day.

I would like to see him attend WTT only if that's what he wants. I know, injuries and rest but sometimes you just need to do what you need to do. I completely understand if he needs that one last performance, for himself.

Shows on the other hand.....A few is good, since he likes doing them but...please put a limit on them. :slink:

All the talk about Yuzuvier but heres some Yuzu10

I don't know what to think about WTT. I mean, I want him to get better, recover his health and rest. But I don't know how ending a season with a performance like the one he had here would affect him. It could hit his confidence as well as leave a sense of unsatisfaction since his FS at Worlds have always been very good that kind of gave a nice close to the season. It was still very good but not what the performance that would give him a sense of satisfaction. Or maybe he would just want this terrible season to be over now, idk.
On the other hand, WTT is not a competition many take seriously, it's kind of a laidback competition, more to have fun. I don't know if it's worth risking some further injury in favor of a competition like that. Apart from the fact that, with how weak ice dance and pairs is in Japan, it would be hard for them to win. But well, it will take place in Japan, so who knows.
Well, it's all up to him, how he feels physically and mentally

Kalina posted on another forum that WTT is an ISU event, and Yuzuru, as the top male skater on Team Japan, would be "obligated" to participate unless injured or sick. Six countries with the season's best results compete. I do wish he could take a rest.

But wait, Yuzuru has been the top male skater in Japan for a few years now. Why hasn't he been there before? Because of the injuries? Because, IIRC, Yuzuru has always competed at Worlds with some kind of injury, so maybe that's why he wasn't there? He could actually pull that off again if it were the case since he's still injured. Sorry I'm just kind of confused
