Javier Fernandez

By the way, I think this interview of Javi from this January is really good (this was recorded before European Champs 2015)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjoPY0Nbj-g

The translation is this:

-"I am afraid that life would be too short. Why? Because I like it, I like it and I enjoy each moment, not because I'm good at something, but because I like to enjoy with my friends, I enjoy doind what I do. I always try to look to the most positive aspects of everything. It's what I like to do"

-"Recently, I have begun a relationship with Miki Ando, a two-times world champion Japanese skater. It has been very recent, the truth is that we have some dificulties as she lives in Japan and I live in Toronto, but we will be seeing each other very often and I must admit that...yes, I'm in love" ( he seems SO in love:love:

-"It has happened to me that someone asked me to sign the body of a person, of a girl. She told me that if I could sign....(haha he's embarrassed) her breasts, for example. And...where did this happen to me? In Russia (he repeats this twice)":laugh2:

-"I take two pieces (I don't know whether this is correct) of lemon, just before competing, but it is not a mania, is something (I do) because I need it. Why do I need it? Because when I'm about doing the program, as skating has speed and the nerves we have...., by some reason my mouth is completely dry and my throat too, then the lemon, as it is very strong, makes that both of them do not dry so much, as they are producing saliva more time"

-"When you see the people that its cheering up as you are doing your coreogrphies, your programs, or that they begin to clap at the middle of the program, or they are following a rhythm, this means that they are enjoying it, whatever you do, they enjoy because they are having a great time"

-"If I was offered to change country representation, I will always say no. And why? Because I do this for me and for my country, so that my country can be proud of me. I have ive here, I was born here and I have everything here (I suppose he's talking about his family). I would never be able to change to another country even if they made things more convenient or they offered more money, for me the most important thing is to achieve that my country is proud of me too."

-"When I won my first Eruopean Championship, because I would NEVER forget this, the Real Madrid football club got in contact with me, because they wanted to invite me to see a football match played by Real Madrid. But not just a normal match...., they invited me to see a "classic" (I'm not a superfan of football, but I think this is when two great Spanish football teams play a match, such as Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, or Real Madrid vs. Athletic of Madrid). And they told me that they invited me for seeing the match from a box seat (I don't know if it said like this). When we arrived there, we were informed by our guide that he was going to take us to the changing room, so that he could take us a photo with all the team members of Real Madrid. So we waited for each football player to come out from the changing room, they took pictures, they signed my a football T-shirt, the T-shirt I chose, and afterwards they sent me an album of Real Madrid to my home with all the photos that we're taken by the photographer."

-"I have learned to not being afraid of falling, never, because when you fall, as in life, you have to raise again by yourself, and in the skating it is exactly the same. You fall, you raise, you hurt yourself, you endure, you have to try it again, because, if not, things don't get ahead, but this can be applied to everything"

Well I hope you enjoy it!!

I did, thank you very much! Welcome to the Forum! :)

another interview with Javi after worlds, his side of story of their hugs
He said “I wasn’t crying”, hehehehehe, he was like “I wasn’t crying”, but he was crying, right? Like he just said that because he didn’t want me to think like he was crying. He was really emotional, he had emotions at that moment, because he saw me, all the training I’ve been doing, in the Grand Prix Final he knew it was really special for me in Barcelona, and he was happy, he was happy. He was second, I am pretty sure he wanted to be first, but still he was happy for me, because he knows me really well, and he knows I’ve been training really hard as him.

I love all the interviews brought here of the new World Champion. He is so sunny and authentic. May he stay happy and successful.

i am glad they invited him, we can see another Yuzuvier moment like in GPF!
Javier Raya posted videos of world championships, i guess he was commentator for spanish tv? he posted for all 4 days but here are the ones including Javier (and Yuzuru), Day 3(SP), Day 4(FP), i hope our wonderful Spanish users can help with translations :o:

Yeah he was a commentator for the Spanish broadcasting, if you watch the videos with the Spanish commentators, the male's voice is his. He made some pretty funny remarks like saying Liza gets higher TES in her SP than him. :laugh2:

omg haha  we as spactators think about all the time when comparing top skaters to others but its nice to see him to talk and joke about it

So Javier Raya’s video had the Spanish comments, but they were kind of incomplete, so I made a sort of mash up with the official broadcast to have as much comment as possible, I'll do the FS later today :)

Paloma: We continue our transmission with something that is of great interest to us, the men’s SP.

P: There he is, there is Javier Fernandez. He has to prove he can perform this program. 3-time European Champion, World Bronze medalist in the past two years. He’s a man that currently has 93.92 (as SB), the best SP is this one, Javier Fernandez, who starts with a 4S. There’s no room for fail.
(Javi’s 4S)
P: There you go! 4S!
Javier: Well done! Wow!
P: Come on, Javi.
(Combo)
J: 3lz….
P&J: 3t!
J: My God, such difficult exits
(Black Betty step)
J: (Laughs)
P: Here comes the fun part
(Before 3A)
P: This is the entrance into the 3A….come on…..
J: WELL DONE! (He got so excited) The three jumping passes were perfect
P: Come on. Here comes the artistic part that he dominates so well.
J: He's great at that, he’s doing it amazingly.
P: Step sequence

P: Bravo Javi! Bravo Javi!
J: Wow…Olé!
P: Yes sir, what a routine. The first clean routine we’ve seen this morning, evening in Shanghai. Over there is 8:30 in the afternoon, over here it’s 1:30 pm. But what a routine that he just did, with the 4S, the 3Lz+3T, the 3A, and everything’s level 4. Now they’re adjusting, they’re adjusting; that’s the score the gave him at that moment but now they need to adjust it. He’s had a SB of 93 points.
J: He’s getting something higher for sure.
P: He surely will because the PCS are still missing, but they will surely be among the 9s or very close to them. There is Laia (no idea who she is). Good job, good job, very well done Javier. He of course has done more than enough to get into 1st place, above the 85.90 from Denis Ten. Look at that, it’s textbook perfect, the position going into the 3Lz+3T. The Axel…how much does this man suffer (Brian), and we suffer along too, and now..
J: Now he has to stay with the next one.
P: Now he has to stay…no not yet, first comes Voronov and he will leave. And there’s Javi, how good was he, what a smiling face full of happiness. The technical score is 48.63, two judges are still missing.
J: Will he get close to a 100?
P: There was a level 3 step sequence with GOEs of +1.07, he’ll definitely go into 1st place, 9 in Interpretation, 8.64 in transitions. But between the 8.64 and the 9, he’s closer to the 9 in all the components. 92.74.
J: He expected something higher
P: A little bit more, he expected a bit more, but it’s 92.74. He’s had a 93 this season, but well, there it is. Now the rest have to come to perform, Voronov, Yuzuru and Maxim; he’s already placed himself.

The FS translation, once again, I mashed up Javier's video w/ the official broadcast (BTW, here they are SP & FS). They also broadcasted the medal ceremony, they got really excited XD:

Paloma: There's Javier Fernandez. Attention. He needs 178 points, he’s had 174 this season.
Javier: Come on Javi.
P: Let’s pay attention. He’s got a very ambitious program with 3 quads. He starts with a 4T, a 4S in combination with a 3T and another 4S at about 1:30. The Barber of Seville. Those two mistakes Yuzuru made have opened the possibility for Javier to get ahead, but he needs to perform.
(4T)
P&J: 4T!
P: The 1st is done. This one is in combination with a 3T.
(4S-fall)
J: 4S (P gasps)…..3A! Nice spins
P: He prepares the Salchow...
J: There it is!
P: Now he's done it! 2T!
J: That’s it!
P: 4S+2T He rescues the combination he’d lost before.
J: Well, well, well done. 3 quads…..Triple…woah…YES!
P: Triple! 3F+Lo+3S
J: Come on Javi.
P: 3Lo!
J: Yes! 3Lo
P: Come on….come on!
J: Two more jumping passes
P: Come on! Let’s go!
J: 3Lz! 2T! Yes!
P: You have one left, you have one left! There it is!
J: Well done, Javi, well done.
P: 1 minute left
J: I’m nervous…hold on (on the spins)
P: Change your blade, change your blade….and the score keeps rising…come on, come on, come on. Come on, Javi
J: Hold on to the spins
P: Come on, Javi
J: Hold on to the levels…well done, Javi!
P: Well done, bravo! Bravo, Javi! So much tension, so much anguish. Now we must wait for the scores. He started out really well, the nerves got to him on the 4S+3T that he had planned in combination, he did it on its own. He will also get the 1 point deduction for the fall, but he kept rising and rising. Look at Yuzuru’s score 93.47 (she got it wrong though because it was Denis’), Javier’s right now is 93.49. It needs to be seriously adjusted now, but this is where the judges come in and the difference between these two was minimal. Of course, we can’t say that he didn’t give his everything, he gave it all. Let’s see, let’s see because interpretation and choreography are two scores that are currently above 9 points. This is a really tough moment because this is when the judges are “cooking” the score. But let’s pay attention because they’re adjusting….he’s exhausted and I’m not surprised. Breathe, Javi, breathe. Breathe, Javi, breathe because you have the chance to do it. You have the chance, so much tension.
P: Here it is, the 4T, flawless. He needs 178 (groans with the 4S). Holding on, look at how he holds that leg.
J: What a program.
P: What a program!
J: 3 Quads, one with a fall, but 3 quads nevertheless.
P: The interpretation is above 9, the choreography is also above 9. The Skating skills close to 9, 8.71; and the technicals were sensational. Javi, you’re close! Javi…you’re close!
J: Come on, Javi
P: He’s exhausted, look at Brian Orser. With Yuzuru Hanyu, with Ten and with…Yuzuru (maybe she meant Nam, I have no idea, they were too excited) He needs 178.34 to get into 1st place, let’s see if he gets it. There are the 3 guys, he needs 178.34 for the 1st place. Yeah, the scores, the scores….WORLD CHAMPION! Javier Fernandez claims the World Title because he gets a score of 181.16 and gets over Yuzuru Hanyu by 2 points. He now places himself at the lead and he’s the next World Champion! There it is! Javier Fernandez’ reaction, who gets the European Championship, 3-time European Champion and finally the World Title has come.
J: My God.
P: Poor guy, poor guy. That face, come on Javi!
J: How shocking, how shocking.
