Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

by the way, have you guys watched this video too? (which shows how the chinese girls were fangirling during the wc):

"....Yuzuruu...." like One Direction greet the fans event . I love that he said "Xie Xie", thank you in Chinese. He always make an effort to say thank you in local language at competitions that he goes to, which I think is awesome

He has plenty of non-Asian fans too, based on posters on FB fanpage (latin america, europe and north america) :cheer:

Going through the last few pages reading different discussions. Just my thoughts.
1) He's not listed in shows because you forget something: he has to undergo a surgery after WTT, we all hope it's a minor one but he may need time for a proper recovery. As soon as he is able to skate- he will be booked everywhere he could phisically appear.
2) Fanfictions always love top skaters relationships, fantasy could lead you anywhere, love/hate relationships are very fascinating for figure skating fiction fandom. Country of a fandom doesn't matter, really.
3)As per GP events for the upcoming season. He and Javi have the same coach. Nam too. if we spread these three to all the GP then Brian would literally leave them all with no attention from time to time. It's a given when you have lots of top athletes competing on a top level. But taking into account this season which is till to end- I really hate to see another one which Yuzu might spend without proper coaching trying to express his problems to Brian via e-mails. This is bullocks, he needs to train with Brian watching and correcting his mistakes on the spot. So to me- if Yuzu and Javi share an event or two would be totally amazing. From coaching point of view.
4) Costumes. I really don't see Yuzu cooperate with Johnny Weir anymore. My point is: Johnny pretty much used same ideas he used for himself during his competitive period, slightly altering them to suit Yuzuru. I haven't seen him coming with anything absolutely new. The first POTO costume (I don't know who was the designer) looked a bit old- fashioned and childish to my taste. The blue one looks more mature. Yuzuru is one of those skaters who can sell you anything that he wears, any music that he skates to. But he's a man now. I hope his designers take this fact into consideration and try to create his costumes with good sence of his body, age and charisma. They have to be fashionable.
5) Together on Ice: cast being male mostly is brilliant. I love this concept. We have tons of ice shows with ladies, pairs, dancers, etc. Let this one be unique. I love how it's about the power of this sport, my fav top man skaters.

I totally agree with this!!! That CGI model looks nothing like our beautiful and elegant yuzu!!!!! I guess the video was made in a rush? I heard that this video was originally made by some Sendai fans, and has been translated into English (not sure how true this is, but I have watched a Japanese version somewhere before!)

Those who has been following the weibo for yuzu should have known what this is about though~

I don't really 'get' the video... What are the Japanese broadcasters saying about the Chinese fangirls? Also, those cards feature the incorrectly match the names of elements to the pictures... I just feel kind of confused and wary... (As I usually am when it comes to Japan-China)

I heard that Chinese girls love him. I heard that he has many korean fangirls too. A lot of his Asian fans are Japanese anime/manga fans. Many fangirls think Yuzu looks exactly like a prince from manga. I'm not sure about this popularity in non-Asian countries though. Do you think he would be more popular than Jason Brown in the USA? It's hard to imagine that.

Mmmm...that's a hard one, I'm not vey familiar of how figure skating has been developing in the US. Maybe in western countries with skaters of their own he's not the most popular, but I think he definitely still has a good fanbase there. But in countries where there are no skaters or don't have any particularly strong, I think he could be the most popular. Aside from all the anime/kpop fans in different countries that like him (although many only watch him, not general FS)

And what to do with those girls anyway? they have all those girl parts and then they make you do stuff. Let the TOI boy and his buddies have fun with their little club meeting

But they are fashionable. No one knows fashion better than Johnny. ;)
Yuzu`s costumes are outstanding. And since he is Prince, of course he can afford a few ruffles.
Tbh I love his costumes to SP (to Scriabin music), R&J1, R&J2, NDDP, blue one for PW, white with golden to Time traveler, second costume to POTO, and to Chopin SP. I guess his choice is perfectly fine for me for the most part.:)
About TOI - is it possible it`s the only one ice show in Sendai? Therefore they could be interested to see other disciplines as well.

Actually, I don't really know Japanese, so I didn't know what they're saying, but from what they showed us on the video, it seems that they're talking about how popular Yuzu is in china. The cards are fan-made and apparently, the pictures and the names of elements are not directly related in the cards, so you don't have to be confused. It seems that it's designed this way in the first place! I loved the little fans with yuzu on it though~ they're cute!

The video explains that these items are not for profit but are made and traded for free.

Exactly!;)

I read somewhere (probably in the recent Number) that even if Brian is out of town for a competition, there are always some coaches who are watching their skaters at Clicket Club.
Yes, but Yuzu-wise it is not what his Federation is paying for. Yuzuru is a top athlete and no other coach could understand him better than Brian. Especially when it comes to jumps and that is what Yuzu was sent to Toronto for. Jumps and skating skills. Those are his main armor. I undestand Brian cannot be available 24/7 but he should spend the most time with Yuzu than other coaches.

But they are fashionable. No one knows fashion better than Johnny. ;)

Fashion: that statement is very debatable. Johnny had a few trend setting costumes that were copied when he was still competing- true. But since he had left sport many of his show outfits were outrageous, very poor in taste. He has a style of his own, some find it odd, some find it funny, some find it spectacular, but he is not a fashion expert if we talk about fashion, not at all.
TOI: my viewpoint is still diamond hard- I love that there are men only. It's awesome.

Just my 2 cents about fashion: It's something that will NEVER come to an agreement, because it's a matter of personal taste only. As for me, I honestly don't care about it, nor do I care if Yuzuru has fashionable costumes or not. I like Yuzuru's and Johnny's costumes just fine. Feminine, masculine, whatever... it's just a label, after all. As long a they don't skate naked, I'll never see the problem.

On a lighter subject, I don't know if it's an old pic or not (I think it is, but I'm not sure), but it came back recently in Yuzu's tag on Instagram: Jeremy Ten dressed as Pooh-san. :laugh2:

Outrageous, not tasteful, was probably exactly what Johnny was going for. I love his Lady Gaga outfit.

I liked every costume of Yuzuru's in his senior caree except one so I think Johnny's designs agree with Yuzuru's style. Besides, it's not like Yuzuru's a mindless puppet, Yuzuru himself is into this style. I remember thinking that the colorful rhinestones on the R&J2 costume were an overkill (I loved the boobskirt though, in case somebody missed the first million times I said it lol) but then I read that those rhinestones were alk Yuzuru. So if somebody needs to be blamed for the costumes, it's Yuzuru. He does what he wants.

And since the first POTO costume was brought up, I got an impression that majority of fans were uncommonly in agreement about loving it. Very Yuzuru. It's such a pity it was retired so soon.

It seems that Yuzuru knows what he likes and there's lityle chance for some great change in the future. I sre am enjoying the crazy costume ride.:)
