Thank you for your informative first post, Domi.

Sorry to learn that Josh no longer is scheduled. I hope only a matter of caution.

The silver lining is that Mirai Nagasu now will be the guest skater :).

Best to Josh and to Mirai.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Could be precautionary or could simply be a matter of where they're at with his off-season. Perhaps he wanted to go see Jeff for program stuff and that day was the only day Jeff was free, or something.

Well, even if he is injured, now's the time to be taking it easy. He's got plenty of time to recover and recharge and focus on choreo. So maybe he's getting next season's injury out of the way now! That's how it works right? RIGHT?

I just want to have him be in a bubble or something, he's so breakable. It worries me.

I think it's because of allergy...He is not THAT strong. If you are allergic to diary products it basically means you are allergic to calcium. And what makes bones strong? Calcium. And after re-watching his Shanghai falls it was pretty obvious to me that he fell hard to the same arm probably even the same place. But I also think he is so used to be injured :D that he is gonna be okay soon. I won't put him in a bubble because he is such a fighter! It seems to me that every fall, every not successfull competition, every not pleasant word from reporters and people in figure skating bussiness makes him just stronger and stronger. I'm super excited for his new free skate. It was such a hard farewell to Schindler's list, I love love love love that program, choreo, everything. Also I'm rooting for him to 2018 Olympics!

You're welcome. I have discovered this place just a few weeks ago... I'm a long figure skating fan but I didn't know about this website, so It was a beautiful shock for me

Yes, he certainly seems to be fragile, and prone to illness and injury. Let's all hope that he can be healthy and injury free for the upcoming season. I think some time off the ice will be good for him and hope he's spending time with his new nephew.

I would assume that he would take supplements (and Calcium is not the only mineral for bones, btw) as an athlete, but who knows? I have a dairy issue (not like his though) and take supplements and my bones are fine!

Well yes you're absolutely right. Calcium is not the only one. But in general. Athletes are often injured even when they're healthy...I just wanted to say that it can be one of the reasons why he was injured so many times. ;)

you know, speaking as a klutz. . .maybe Josh is just a klutz.

But seems that injuring himself on ice has been an unfortunate recurring theme for Josh. :(

Does not mean that he is not a klutz off ice, but even if he is, I don't think that would be a major explanation for his history of injuries.

Sometimes klutzes don't fall as well as other people. Hanyu falls well. Sometimes people actually have to learn how to fall properly. Some of us never do and just learn to laugh and deal and not care. I never know where half my bruises come from, and I am not an athlete. But when you actually are risking injury, klutz falls are more of a risk. Please note I don't use the word klutz in a derogatory way, just that some of us when we fall, just mange to totally wipe out. Josh falls, just seem to be bad falls.

LOL, another word thing ;).
I am a klutz who has been known to sprain my ankle while walking down a mere handful of steps  from a doorway to street level :hopelessness:.
I myself would not use the word klutz for someone who injures his ankle (or anything else) while performing triple or quadruple jumps.

That said, I agree that all falls are not created equal.

Not exactly. There are plenty of other foods that are rich in calcium that aren't/ don't contain/ doesn't have a risk of contamination with dairy products. Like soybeans, dark leafy green vegetables, salmon, seaweed, and more.

But do you know when you have hurt your ankle? See that is my problem. I bash myself around so much I never really know at the moment of stupidity how bad it is. Usually I just ignore it and if it still hurts in 5 minutes I start paying more attention and see if I am bleeding - that type of thing. I could see myself if I was a skater finishing a program on a broken ankle because I could see myself assuming it was just a stupid ouch and not an injury, and then keep going till the end rather clueless. I can see a slightly klutzy person in an environment like skating not being very good at telling the difference between stupid ouch, and something you should actually rest and put ice on.

Sort of on topic ;) (not that painful injuries are a matter of levity):
OGM on balance beam @ShawnJohnson just tweeted:
Does anyone else have a serious problem with running into things?! I swear... Every doorframe, table, chair... I hit! #ouch #clumsy

Thx, CKH. I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah.

Though I do wonder if I were to ever meet him, should I do a full scrub down of my body like take a shower, brush my teeth, gargle with mouthwash, wash my hands, and my face before I do so? Because I might unknowingly eat something beforehand that might have dairy products in it.....

Just want to be careful.
