Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Re-watching his Etude SP...still the most gorgeous costume really. I think this season, both of his costume has blue in it, so I am guessing he is really liking blue as a costume color choice, for aesthetic reason as well as superstitious reason (and the PW for his Olympic winning short as well). So I am guessing another blue costume for next season.

Agree with you. And more importantly, both of the blue costumes this season began to be used in NHK after the crash in COC;). Of course I love them better than the ones he wore in COC. Maybe blue is truly a lucky color for him.
I don't want to be superstitious but I really think Finlandia trophy would be a good choice. Last season he withdrew because he was too tired and because of his injury. This season I think he may really want to make it.

Geez so many predictions and theories. And is this fan thread for Yuzu or Shoma Uno?

There's actually no obligation to participate in discussions if one can't handle predictions, theories or Shoma Uno, you know. Just saying.

I think he'll choose and maybe wants to do NHK, remember he didn't had a good result last time, being 4th, so maybe he wants that title again, and either SC or SA. Oh can you just imagine if both Yuzu and Patrick will be on SC early on the season  but maybe we'll be surprised of his GP assignments again this time :slink:

Agree Yuzuru will want to do Finlandia this fall. He likes to compete with Patrick so SC is a possibility. NHK is a must.

I think JSF may prefer Shoma not do NHK. Shoma needs to place high enough at two events to go to GPF, if he competes against Yuzuru at NHK he is almost certain to place lower. I think it was different with Dai and Yuzuru because they were both ranked so high already. Just my 2 cents.

TEB and SA would seem good choices for Javi. Not sure about Denis - COR & CoC?

I think NHK is almost for sure picked by JSF for Shoma.

If both Yuzu and Patrick will compete in SC, I feel like I'd better get the tickets now.

It's still a long way ahead, but everyone who goes watch Yuzuru at any GP event, can you give us your live reports afterwards? Pretty please?

After reading this article translated by Echo Cheng in the fb group, I think there is zero chance for Yuzuru to avoid NHK:

There is an interesting article discussing the commercial impact that Yuzu announced to attend at WTT on March 30.
Eight days before March 30 in ticket exchange web site, only 20% of people requested for buying tickets, 80% released to sell.
However, the eight days after March 30, the transaction is totally flipped. Almost 91% of people asked for getting tickets and only 9% want to sell their tickets. Thus we can see some tickets was promoted very high.
The author of article urged figure skating audience to support other skaters even if Yuzu didn't attend the event. Thus it will reduce the pressure of box office on Yuzu.

There is one big flaw is that FS tickets are not cheap at all, my friends had to use their saving to get ticket to see Yuzuru, why would they pay money for shows and competitions for skaters that they are not fans of? It's not like they tell me to go out and buy a photo book to support all skaters. Going to competition means: fees for traveling, accommodations, foods... They expect all skating fans to spend all those money for skaters they have no interest in???

I hope some posters should refrain from talking about other skaters too much (be it Kanako, Shoma, Mura, Javi... because they all have their own fan threads) in Yuzuru fan's thread. Please note that I have no personal problem with them. It's just this thread is too long already I don't know which is which to catch up with anymore.

I read this article few days ago and found it to be totally ********:disapp:Personally I don't feel any obligation or guilty if I would only go to competitions and show that Yuzu attends. It's normal and common. I don't understand such suggestion/critizing.Not fair at all. Seriously, this article just reminds me of Nationals 2012, which is definitely not a good memory for either Yuzu or his fans.

Thank you for the reference Meoima, I agree with you the chances are hight that JSF want to ensure ticket sales. And with out Daisuke and Mao they are relaying more on Yuzuru to sell tickets.

Does the article has a negative tone?

This is Yuzuru's thread, but when we talk about the predictions for his GPS participation, we cannot avoid thinking about other Japanese skaters. Especially, about Shoma Uno this time, I think.

I remember, some time ago, when Tarasova was the coach of Shizuka Arakawa, she was furious about JSF because they put Shizuka in the same GP competitions twice with Mao Asada. It meant Shizuka had less chance to get high position.

JSF surely want Yuzuru and Shoma to go to the GP Final, so, it is likely to avoid the same places for them. But this is just my personal opinion, because NHK is a good money earning machine for them, unfortunately.

If Patrik would participate in SC, SA might be the place for Yuzuru because the next Worlds will be in the US (like this year in China). Another my guess though. I want to see Shoma in SC with Patrick; to see how he could compete with such a big figure.

I'm rather sure Yuzuru will go to Finlandia considering his character

He was 2nd in SC in 2013, not 2014, by the way.

^Yuzuru has no chance to avoid NHK as JSF need him there, unless Japanese son in law aka Javi chooses NHK. I am 95% sure Yuzuru will do NHK (not that he has any choice).

CoC is out of option so Yuzuru only has CoR, TEB or SC, SA which will he choose? I think since GPF will be in Europe again so he will not go to CoR or TEB.

Javi might choose SA as he has the right to choose as WC. If so Yuzuru could not go to SA and might have go to SC as it's near to his training base in Toronto. And it's logical that Javi will choose SA this time as he already did SC in 2014 already. I guess SC for Yuzuru unless he doesn't want to meet Patrick there. But Yuzuru is Yuzuru he will go for sure. :)

My bet for Yuzuru's GP next season: SC and NHK.

So does JSF reseive all this money from tickets?
I wonder if Mao and Dai were obligated to skate for home crowd.
And are tickets for NHK sold as "all events"?
Wouldn't they cheer for Satoko and Kanako, even if Yuzu is absent?
I second the post saying SA would be nice to sence the air of Boston.
And second GP would be nice to try to win CoR and TEB to collect all gold of GP series.

As for Shoma - I hope he gets taller and get better jumps. For now-not my cup of tea.

I think obligated is a strong word, most if not all skater will think that gettinh home ice as an advantange.

And after Sochi I don´t want Yuzuru to skate in Russia, no offense.

I love your username!! Lets hope he'll be crowned again as the king in the next Olympics, and he'll be really the king of fs!!!! Hahas!!!

Don't worry, I'm not sure about the predictions and the way isu and federations work too , so let's not bother ourselves with it if we don't know any of those to begin with and purely indulge ourselves with the beautiful and wonderful performances of yuzu and other skaters!

Yuzu GP Series Medals

Gold:

Rostelecom (2011)
NHK (2012)

Silver:

Skate America (2012)
Skate Canada (2013)
TEB (2013)
COC (2014)

I bet SC and NHK

I just browsed through the fan fest list only to realize that yuzu has an unbelievably large thread compared to others! We are like almost 1400pages and otbrts are like higheSt at page 255! WOW!

Dai and Mao skated at NHK like 7-8 year in a row right? My memory is not that good. But yeah they need their stars to sell the tickets. Yuzuru is no different option.

Honestly Yuzuru is very loved at Russia (my Russian friends said so) I don't think if there is any problem if he goes to CoR again.
