Elena Radionova

I just found this out, but Radionova isn't the only one to have skated to J-Lo's Ain’t It Funny... Oksana Baiul did too for the 2003 World Team Challenge and Stars on Ice in 2003/early 2014.

The only place I could find a copy of that performance is a collection of Baiul performances on rutracker(site:rutracker.org oksana baiul to find it) but for some reason my bittorrent client wouldn't allow me to download the individual video(usually you can just pick what files you want). I'm not going to download 2GB just to watch it.

Baiul did skate in Averbukh's ice shows in late 2005 and 2006 but I only see references to swan lake. He still may have seen it if he was scouting to see how good Baiul still was. I highly doubt there's any connection considering you can't even find a copy of Baiul's performance on youtube but you never know.

There's some interesting background music playing in the background on a video from a girl who trains with Radionova.

Thanks for the info on "Ain't it Funny" and the links, sorenkay!

And that's why Lena is in CSKA aka "Central Sport Club of the Army"

Good point, Noolan!
A small part of me is a little disconcerted to see Lena anywhere near a firearm, but it does seem pretty common...? I remember several years ago, someone stole some equipment/costumes from the back of TAT's car, and I remember her saying something like, "If I had a gun, I could've shot their tires or something...I'm a pretty good shot!"

 Well, I've always felt that Lena has a "killer instinct" when she's out on the ice competing!

So what's the story supposed to be here, anyway? I just came back from watching "Othello," so I'm thinking tragic love triangle... :drama:

...After failing to win Lena's affections, Han Yan decides to eliminate his rival, Yuzuru Hanyu. Seeing her beloved Phantom-Romeo crumpled on the ice is too much for our ever-emotional heroine, and she takes her revenge...

This is wonderful! Would you happen to have a story on Kovtun the Bystander?

=D Nah, maybe better leave Yuzuru Hanyu to Julia =D (Or create a crazy plot)
+ Han Yan is cute so i´m cheering for him on this lol

Maybe lena learns a huge 3A to beat her main rival, Liza, and then Lena and Han Yan switch to pais and do SBS 3A jumps =P
Now we just need a reason for her to kill Kovtun the Bystander =P

Ahahaha, glad you enjoyed that! Let me think...

Crazy plot it is!!

Take two:

Han Yan was tired of being lonely and flying to the moon by himself. He had his heart set on Lena Radionova, because, well, don't they make a pretty pair? http://ww1.sinaimg.cn/large/76ad8596jw1era2bchwlvj20dc0hswgi.jpg

But when he told Lena, "You are all I long for, all I worship and adore," she didn't seem to understand. He thought it was the language barrier, until he saw her chatting (flirting?!) with his rival, the man of many quads (and many injuries)--Yuzuru Hanyu!!!

Lena had no idea Han Yan was watching her from the other side of the room. She was focused on one thing, and one thing only--bringing together Romeo/Yuzu with her Yulia/Juliet. Yes, Mama said no boys for her until after the Olympics, but that didn't mean she couldn't help other people in their romances!! And Yulia was totally being a "hedgehog" again, too shy to talk to Yuzu herself.
So Lena decided to do the talking. She'd convince Yuzu to hang out with them, and then conveniently disappear!

Han Yan watched with growing anger as Lena smiled, laughed and batted those incredibly long eyelashes at Yuzu. "How dare he talk to my girl!"

Meanwhile, Kovtun surveyed the scene with an evil eye. "Now, how can I eliminate my rivals?" he mused. He spotted Yuzu talking to Lena, and Han Yan watching them, looking like he wanted to punch somebody. "Aha! I have a plan!" He sidles over to Han Yan and whispers in his ear...

...Later, in the FS warmup, Han Yan takes out his rival with a brutal blow. Seeing Yuzuru's bloody, crumpled form is too much for Yulia to handle, and she bursts into tears. Lena tries to comfort Yulia, but she is inconsolable. So once again, Lena takes matters into her own hands. Our ever-empathetic heroine cannot bear to see Yulia cry, so she decides to punish the man who caused her dear friend such pain...

Meanwhile, Kovtun watches his plan unfold from the sidelines..."You have taught me well, TAT [=Trained Assassin Tarasova]..."

@Batsuchan
That was awesome! Trained Assassin Tarasova? :laugh2:

Poor, misguided Han Yan...

(Though on a totally unrelated note... I hadn't seen that CCTV broadcast of Lonely. I didn't realize they were that disappointed in his performances. :slink:)

New interview with Inna Goncharenko, Elena's coach. Russian.
Wow, her conditions are worse than I thought. Prior to this season Lena's parents had to pay for all the additional specialists they involve in their training. The music is mixed by Inna's friend who's doing it for free. "It's an amateur production", Inna says. She says Lena would love to go to US for training like Yulia and Liza did this season, but they don't have the money for it. Inna says Lena would love to work with Lambiel, Zueva, Lori Nichol or Morozov, but she can't afford it  And Lena's ice time was really inconvenient this season. She was on ice at 8.15, so she had to get up at 5 in the morning.

Wow...She is not my favorite but...She is great and she deserves better conditions. They really had to pay for all?! And she deserves to work with some specialist on choreography.

I hope things change for her. She is a great talent and should be nurtured. She has become one of my favorites out of Russian ladies (along with Tuk and Lip). I am liking her for for 2018. In fact I got a ticket to SA hoping she will be back and am planning a trip to the Worlds in hopes of seeing her live. It seems like she should have been getting more financial support from the skating federation having defended the Junior World Championship.

But we dont know about Yulia. She is popular and she and Adelina have Nike as sponsor. So maybe federation did not pay those travels. What Lena needs is to get sponsors. and I think it would be easier for her. So cute. adorable. And getting good results.

I think Mishin's group went to USA because Mishin agreed to teach there for a while, so that was probably for free. But Liza's also getting choreo from Lambiel and somebody had to pay for that. Eteri obviously has some connections in US, so maybe the trip for her group was cheaper as well.
As for sponsors, I've seen Lena in some Riedell ads online. Not sure what kind of deal they have though.
