Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I think we might be able to hear Hanyu-san talk about how he prepares for the role of onmyoji in interviews to come. Until, then, let's play nice. ;)

Oda mentioned yesterday that he's seen Hanyu-san practice SEIMEI during FaOI and that it looks like a very difficult program with timing that needs to precise in order for the jumps to be "on". That seems to be the running theme from last year's SP too. Does difficulty in that aspect play a part in GOE or PCS?

A little early for this, but even though I kept telling myself to be realistic, and to be prepared for Patrick to win gold over Hanyu-san at SC (various reasons others have mentioned including Hanyu-san's usual late start in GP series and Patrick having the home advantage), I still so so so want Hanyu-san to spoil the welcome back party. :p

I think this is the story of all Yuzu's fans' lives, he always manages to amaze us but also get us incredibly worried about him (specially early in the season). :drama: But well, it wouldn't really be Yuzu if he played it safe, seems like constant improving and pushing himself is one of his main goals for the rest of his career, maybe even more so than the titles (except probably Olys).

And yeah, although I've come to think the odds are a bit more inclined towards Patrick at SC, I'm don't think he'll have it as easy as before and I'm seriously hoping for Yuzu to break the habit of slow starts and get the gold :cheer:

Me too!! Well, probably everyone on the Yuzuru forum wishes for Yuzuru to beat Patrick at SC, haha. Though I will say that I'd rather have Yuzuru start off the season poorly (by his standards) and pull himself together later like usual than have a sudden turnaround and do well early in the season but perform worse as the season goes on. But of course, ideally he would skate amazingly throughout the entire season ;)

:slink: I would honestly be scared/nervous if he suddenly does well in his GP's......

Well, there is a very good chance he'll do well at NHK, and I don't know what to make of it, I'm excited but after I've read the precious comments I'm nervous. But let's trust him and think that, regardless of how he may start, he'll do great at the big events. :biggrin:
 
Although I like NOMURA Mansai (I love his trained baritone? voice as a Kyogen actor), IMO, the two Onmyoji movies are not A class ones. Besides the CG or script, ITO Hideaki (Minamoto no Hiromasa) is a ham ("daikon (Japanese white radish)" in Japanese), to say the least.

Nonetheless, it is true that the current image of Abe no Seimei borne by Japanese has been fairly affected by the novel of YUMEMAKURA Baku, the manga of OKANO Reiko, and the said movies.

And, (this is the point) that image really fits Yuzuru. It is hard to deny that.

I remembered that I said I liked a shaman, oracle type of costume with this music piece of Himekami last year when we were talking about the next season's program.

The image I had at that time was Ashura, but the main idea is the mixture of purity with demonised beauty (some may not like this expression). It is difficult to explain, but after all I maybe like to see dark-side Yuzu, as someone mentioned :biggrin:

Yeah, I have a special place in my heart for low-budget slightly off-kilter fantasy movies. (Of course, I like high-budget ones too)
Something about about an obviously rubber arm or head flying about with a dramatic splatter of blood just makes me happy. :scratch:

For those of you who haven't watched the movie but plan to; don't expect too much. I enjoyed it because I was expecting almost nothing. :thumbsup:

I believe his motivation is to keep challenging himself and become the best skater he can be. So he is not going to play it safe.

Most likely the 2016-2017 season if he ever gets invited to COR. Or if the date of COR changes, e.g. COR is two or three weeks away from NHK, then Yuzu has a chance to skate at COR in the Olympic season too.

Could we talk about colours that were used in Yuzuru's new LP program costume? I am curious why all the shades on green have been used on his sleeves and what is the meaning behind those colours, they seem like have natural colouring that is traditional in Japan. Anyone can help me with that?

Your comment is what all Yuzuru's fans are feeling when comes to Chan vs. Hanyu. ;)

It'll be great if they both do well and ideally Yuzu wins over Patrick, but even if Patrick wins SC --it wouldn't be a surprise since there is a bit of a home advantage and with factors of how Yuzu peaks at the GPF instead of during GP assignments. Strong opponents really bring a good tension to watching these skating competitions in my opinion! :biggrin:
