All these things represent desirable levels of collaboration, compatibility and respect that was absent last year. She wants to collaborate with Yulia "in the creative process." Marina welcomes Yulia and her method.

If I remember correctly, Michaelangelo was constantly fighting with Julius II over his vision of Sistine Chapel: he cursed pope, threw him out of the chapel, quarreled over his salary, threatened with strike or even abandoning the project. Good example. You're right, conflict can take creativity to greater heights. For example, nobody got the last word with Beethoven, he just got tougher. With some personalities it can go the other way, for example with Bruckner who struggled endlessly to please his critics. For a few, such as Rachmaninoff, it can lead to long periods of zero production and depression. Tension is okay if it doesn't get in the way, and sometimes it inspires. These situations reveal a lot about the people involved.

I can only imagine the thoughts going thru her head. Inspite of the fear and uncertainty of it all she managers to look so calm and at peace. It's very inspiring for me.

Sam, I finally found where she talks about how important it is not to think during performances. Watch the first 30 seconds of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHNqlIyACbU . Her statement corresponds to Peg's post about "imagery" techniques used in sports psychology, establishing neural pathways. If she couldn't go into autopilot, then her performance would be impaired. Maybe this was part of her problem last year with R&J.
 
It's so touching to hear her words.

"When you come out, the body remembers and makes by itself. So it's a very series obstacle when there is extra thoughts. It's very important to know when to turn the thoughts off." -a bit paraphrased but it's the idea.

She turns very serious when describing the pain of Sochi. When the video shows Plushy leave in pain she says it's not the physical pain...which can withstand....it's the Moral problem...the heartache. :cry:

With Megapolis she was able to turn her mind off, she did well. Megaolis was a part of her, she could be automatic. R&J was too much in flux, always changing, she couldn't turn her mind off during performances. Also important, she had no problems in practices with R&J. In practices she would keep her mind on.

Sounds like it was a great experience for her and Yulia. I have to wonder if they'll return again next season considering the creative balance they seem to have achieved. I also wonder how it is that Yulia got 3 programs and Adian only one. Was she using her own money to fund it?
