C&McM will, I believe, be at Lake Placid IDC, which this year is a Senior B. USFSA often uses input from LPIDC to guide the SkAm dance TBD choice.

Also, they did 2 senior B's Challenge events last year, and I am hoping they will do two (and win one) this year, which would qualify them to be picked for a GP slot..

It depends on your definition of "depth" is... if the definition is "who can medal at worlds" they're currently behind, but if the definition is "who can medal at a grand prix event" the US and Russia are practically equal in depth.

Six Russian couples - three have two spots because of Top10 at Worlds, one have 2 spots because 1st place at JrWords and top24 of Season Best, one has 1 spot because top24 of Season Best, one Returning couple (Bobrova / Soloviev).

Four US couples - three have two spots because of Top10 at Worlds, one has 2 spots because top24 of World Standing and Season Best (and home spot).

Victoria SINITSINA / Nikita KATSALAPOV have one spot, they have higher Season Best than all the US couples with no spots.

There are 7 free Home Spots, France and China probably will invite foreign coules.
Will be at least five US couples (US home spot), maybe six.

I think SC will send Veronik Mallet, as you said, as well as Paradis/Ouellette in dance and Ilyuvschekina (sp.?)/Moscovitch for pairs. I would say Kevin Reynolds for the men's TBA but he isn't on their international team so IDK. COC and TEB will probably pick international skaters because of lack of depth (France might pick another lady, and China is already sending three pairs and can't send more, so that basically rules them out). I'm too lazy to look up who's going to the other ones.

Nathan was born in May and Karen in August, so they're not twins. But they could be cousins, idk....

LOL, if I had to guess, I think you might be the only one.
Chen is a very common surname. Your musing is analogous to wondering whether any skater named Brown would be a sibling or cousin of Jason. Or whether any skater named Wagner would be a sib/cousin of Ashley. Etc., etc.

Sorry, I see that Brown is more common than Chen by an order of magnitude, per Stitch's chart posted below.
But my comparison to Wagner is pretty decent.​

If Karen and Nathan really were (non-distant) cousins, I find it hard to believe that their relationship would not already be well known to fans.
USFS (understandably) surely would consider it a nice bit of color for their respective bios.

ETA, all in the eye of the beholder, but any physical resemblance btwn Karen and Nathan is completely invisible to me.​
