oh no, 3A will be there, I just said that 3A in combinations are not allowed in SP so his layout will have to be like : 4S3T, 4T, 3A or 4S 4T3T 3A ;)

Yes, it's more probable he'll go with the 3A as a solo jump than forego it altogether if ever he'll do a two quad SP. And the layouts you hazarded (;)) if successfully executed will almost certainly earn him another world record.

Hi, I want to share my story tonight.

Do your remember pianist Fukuma Kotaro, a musician at FaOI Kanazawa and Kobe? At Kobe, he played the ballade in the accident of the ice, which led to the collaboration with yuzu the next day. @Newbie introduced his episode making translation and posting his facebook in English. Some of you were impressed by him.

Tonight, I went to his piano concert. It was a salon type concert in a small room. He didn’t use a mike.

I was fascinated with his piano at FaOI Kanazawa. Tonight, he planned to play Chopin, so I was expecting he would play ballade No.1 or talk about figure skate.

To my sunrise, he looked a lot like yuzu! I was in the first row, and he was right in front of me. His every gesture, the way he bows… Just like yuzu. Most of all, the way he spoke! The tone of voice, accent, pose, words he uses.. All of them, just like yuzu. I’ve never seen a person who is similar to yuzu to such a great degree. I was only astounded.

Then, about the program,,, Yeeees! He played the ballade No.1 as encore together with a talk about FaOI and the corroboration with yuzu.
Listening to the melody, I couldn’t stop tears and covered my face not to make a sound. I thought that I’d listened to it many many times during the last tough season. The tune reminded me of thousands of things, this yuzu, that yuzu...

But the story didn’t end there. Next, he played “Firebird” accompanied by the episode that a firebird is said to bring happiness. It was arranged for piano on his own, and was a just amazing piece.

We knew yesterday that he’d said goodbye to ballade. Ballade has gone with unfadable memories… And then, firebird came and flew high up in the sky! Isn’t it wonderful? I was so excited!

(And another thing… After concert, I had him sign on my CD. At that time, I said to him that overseas yuzu fans spoke well of him and I was proud of him as Japanese. He smiled shyly. He was reserved, and just humble. )

Now, my wish is “The broadcast tommorow will include that miracle collaboration!”

Thank you hamaguri for sharing your experience about watching Kotaro's concert. You are so lucky being able to watch so many ice shows and this as well. I think musicians and figure skaters have many things in common including, and I'm quoting Scott Hamilton here, understanding the power of the performance and "showing off" (in a good way of course).

Kotaro sounds like a lovely person, and it seems his collaboration with Yuzuru has left a deep impression on him.

OT: "Firebird" will always be associated in my mind with Tatsuki and the magnificent duel he and Yuzuru had at 2014 Worlds.

Sorry guys..most of the last page were all ME:slink:

Trying hard to catch up 8 pages that I missed. SORRY--

:)

Well...since the 2016 Worlds Schedule has been posted, looks like I'll only be going to the men's FP. I wish both SP and FP, but school comes first and one event is better than no events.

Hopefully I will be able to go overall and have one of my dreams come true to see Yuzuru skate.

I hope too you will be able to personally give Yuzuru that lovely hat you knitted (and the washing instructions).

They asked him what type of girl he liked and he replied something like "type doesn't matter if I like the person".

Maybe, just maybe, seeing Javier and Miki so happy together despite differences in language and culture influenced that answer.

It's not just probable, if I have my facts straight, it's absolutely certain because a solo Axel jump is obligatory in SP along with a solo jump out of steps and a combination jump. Rules forbid attaching combo to the Axel, so if Yuzu wants to do 2 quads, he has to do one quad with a combo. Handomi gave the only 2 possible permutations.

I personally find the rationale behind this rule about axel jumps in sp kinda unfathomable......

Hi Hamaguri :)
I really want to thank you for sharing your experience with us. Fukuma really looks like an amazing person. I wish I could see him play live too :o:

It's kind of weird but yeah, I checked and, As Moria said, the Axel jump can't be in combo, it must go on its own. Another solo jump (either a triple or a quad) Out of steps, and a combination of either quad+triple, quad+double, triple+triple or triple+double are the required jumping passes in the SP for men's singles.

It's kind of how the ladies can't go for a quad in the SP...

Thank you for your comments for my story. I wanted to convey my enthusiasm during that day. Kotaro’s sincere and earnest attitude.,,,a personality like yuzu! Broadcast today, please!!!

Glad you had enjoyed such a magnificent time!! Your story is so sweet!! I do hope he'll come to hk soon!! Do you remember what exactly did he say about yuzu? What is the name of the cd? Perhaps i can browse around to see if I can buy one in hk [emoji6]

Sorry, he did not talk about more than the fact he happened to do corroboration out of accident, although I’d also expected his comment in detail. That’s partly because of his personality. He is reserved and doesn’t talk so much. If I were him, I would speak loudly and a bit boastfully about it:laugh:

Love papa Brian http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f6/19/d3/f619d31140116827699ca85996abf6d1.jpg

I got a caption!

BRIAN: That's my boy! Whoho!!!!!Did you see that people! That's my boy! Yeah!!!
YUZURU: ugh...Dad, PUH-LEASE
POOH: Oh bother...

Well done! Yuzu is always thinking about Pooh even while his performance!

If its LATIN I'd go
TANGO especially Argentinian...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lAKlYTQVKY I'd go...:drama:

flirty YUZURU would be too hard to handle..hihihi! Temperatures would surely rise.:o:

Yes! I hope new program will be more relaxed and fan. Latin is wonderful.

.

Yes, another thing I strongly thought…Yuzu and Kotaro, they are definitely the same type of artist. First, they have great tachinic as base, and then, they express themselves with their whole body and tell a story. They are similar also in their artistry.

About Tatsuki,, Of course, Kotaro talked about Tatsuki’s firebird. (Speaking of Tatsuki, he appears on the Ice show this weekend. Tomorrow it will be broadcasted live. Please follow his thread if you have any interest! I'll check the information;))

P.S. Congratulation everyone to take ticket for Boston! Report will be welcomed!:cheer:

First thanks to Handomi and Moria for enlightening me about the axel jump in the SP. In connection with the discussion, i found this chart listing SP singles requirements for senior mean and ladies, among others. Now I also know how many revolutions Yuzuru has to do in his spins to get the levels.

Thank you and I will. :)

Ok…so I went back to just a fun post about Yuzu and his other sporting possibilities. I'm sure he would be amazing in any sport that he wanted to be serious about other than figure skating.

https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2015/07/17/yuzuru-hanyu-multi-sport-possibilities/

Thank you for sharing. Yes, I also thought he'd be good in sports when he said he has the gift of making his body follow what his mind visualizes. :)

I'm so sorry for completely getting off topic here, but as people mentioned earlier, the schedule for Worlds was released, and I was wondering if it would be okay to show up a couple of hours late to an event? Basically, would it be distracting to the skaters or any of the other spectators if I were to just walk in late? I know, I know, I shouldn't miss any of the performances, and I should get my money's worth, but I'm really trying not to have to stay another night at a hotel. Incredibly sorry again for not contributing to discussion.

No it wouldn't be distracting at all. Often people get up and move around between skaters, groups and during 6 minute warmups.

He has the right answers for every question. Just love his answer!

Do you happen to have the video of that magnificent duel?

Though it is considered rude to move around while someone is performing (this varies country to country), there are plenty of opportunities to come in and find your seat: between skaters, during warm ups, and while the scores are being announced. So it won't be a problem for you to come in late. Not at all. IMHO.

Some rinks/competitions, they make that choice for you: no problem arriving late (or visiting the restrooms or whatever after you arrived) - but ushers make you wait a til the current skater has finished their performance before allowing you to go/return to your seat eg. They did that at the GP final last year.

But it's not everywhere. Just spare a thought for the skaters and the spectators already in their seats, and it's no problem.
