Max Aaron

Random (very random) thought. I would like to see Max and Jason Brown do a routine to "You've Got a Friend in Me," with Jason as Woody and Max as Buzz Lightyear.

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

The best part is: I CAN SEE IT.

A new blog entry from Phillip Mills  shares more thoughts on working with Max (and mentions that PM recently flew to CS to work with Max). Excerpt:
I am hopeful I can inspire Max to trust me as I stand sentry at his artistic doorstep. I know I see the potential in Max Aaron that Jiri Duchoslav saw in me. The journey will be long and at times difficult but the reward of learning to move in a new way with a specific purpose can be very rewarding.

LOL, Tom Z seems to like Buzz Lightyear :), per the first few seconds (and last twenty seconds) of the video of this year's summer camp at the World Arena.

Glimpses of Max, Josh, Mirai, Rachael, Alexa in teaching mode. Also, Drew Meekins, Damon, Becky, Christy, Larry ... and Tom himself of course. I can't put faces to the other names with certainty ....

Ohmygosh coachMax is adorable. Also  that little boy was nearly as tall as he is. Poor vertically-challenged Max. :)

I see Josh found the prettiest girl to talk to ;)

And I just love that blog entry from Phillip Mills. Now I can see the palace of the Swan Prince, and the loyal guard standing at the gate, fending off all others.

From IN's series re personal on-ice breakthroughs for individual skaters:

Max Aaron: Two quads in a free skate (2013 U.S. Championships)
I remember the noise (after the first one). I remember it being very loud. I know right away if I am going to land [a jump] right from the takeoff; I know right away if the jump will just fly -- and I knew right away it was going to fly. I was eighth at nationals the year before, and I don't think anyone was expecting anything like that from me -- no one knew what Max Aaron could do. I remember getting a little smirk after I landed the first one because of that. I could hear the crowd's reaction and I thought, "Wow, I really shocked them." It's kind of like my hockey days and the sirens go off (after a goal is scored). After I landed the second one, I thought it was like the sirens went off again. It's just a big deal. At the time, it was unreal. You imagine what it would be like, and it's even better -- it's that times 20.

Or maybe the girl is the one who "found" the handsome Josh ;).

:agree: Agree that Coach Max A was adorable. As was Coach Mirai N.

Max is stirring up pairs rumours again ;), and doubling that with showing off his impressive strength. With Kirsten Moore-Towers!

Well, in fairness to innocent bystander ;) Max, the culprit  responsible for the "stirring up again" is Kirsten, who reposted the old photo as a throwback.

I know that we have seen/enjoyed :)/discussed the photo (a higher-res version??) before. Must have been taken at 2013 Skate America? Her throwback caption refers to Detroit.

Anyway, always happy for another look at the photo. Max is sooo strong .

This is a new one for him. I hope there are fancams!

I definitely did a double-take when I discovered Max on the host page  :yay:.

The funny thing is that I had been wondering only in a very general way who would be at Collegiates. It had never crossed my mind that Max would be an entry.
I was just nosing around because Dornbush competed and won last year, and because Mirai had said she is competing this year.
Even with my awareness of Mirai, it still had never occurred to me that her training mate wound enter too .
So the sight of Max's name was a cool surprise indeed.

Maybe this year is the first that Max has been eligible as a full-time student?? I didn't know about his full-time status until he mentioned it in this year's pre-Nats video, although he was taking some college classes in years past.
And I'm glad that scholarship money is offered. [Too bad that three ladies receive money, but only one man.]

Anyway, it was several weeks ago (IIRC) that I noticed that Collegiates were on Mirai's schedule on her website. When I posted the Mirai news in her thread in The Edge, at least two different people happily responded that they already were planning to attend the comp and thus were esp. pleased to hear about Mirai.
So I am optimistic that we'll at least get some eyewitness posts on GS :).

I have done the best I could to put together karne's original post, golden 411's updates, and my updates to finish Max's OP.

I am still checking links, but I thought I would give you all a quick head's up that changes had been made.

I hope you find some stuff you haven't seen, and some stuff you enjoy.

Please tell me of any mistakes you find; there are so many things that there must be errors.

Thank you.

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! doris it looks amazing! So many links and infos! I love it!

sabinfire's post w/ link to unlisted HD video of SP (6:25)

This was unlisted for a time, probably when golden411 originally mentioned it last month, though now on public view for a few weeks I think. I had to double-check before posting, because I thought I'd switched it over not too long ago.

And apologies for the ugly watermark on some of my videos (like the HD version of Max), I had rationale behind doing it at the time, but hopefully I can avoid watermarks (and make them far less obtrusive in the future if used).

Many thanks to all three of you :):
- To Doris for the massive OP for Max (and for all your work on other fan threads).
- To karne for starting Max's thread and for bringing so much content and energy to it thereafter (not to mention to GS in general).
- To sabinfire for videos of Max (and so many others). No need to apologize for watermarking.

Super-nitpicky detail:
For his 2015 Nats SP, Max switched to Blake Shelton's cover of Footloose.
Sticks in my mind b/c the change was not my cup of tea.

Doris, I will really, really try to stop being a pest, but two articles that I would hate to be forgotten:

2013 cover story from Skating magazine:
Entire digital version of SKATING magazine's August/September Issue -- with Max Aaron on the cover -- is now available online:

pp. 22-27: "Rocket Man: High-flying Aaron soaring toward Sochi," cover story by Sarah S. Brannen

Very endearing "all in the family" interview with Max and his sisters re training and sharing an apartment together in Colorado Springs :):
The Inside Edge with Sarah and Drew

No problem. I have added them in.

However, if you are going to to ask for further additions, please don't make the effort to add italics or indents, since I will just be deleting them to keep the style of the OP consistent.

My goal is to have OPs legible on even my small screen not so smart phone (figuring everyone else's will be better), and sans serif non-italic fonts, plenty of white space between adjacent links (to aid in clickabilty), and minimal indenting to save space all help.

Thx again for everything, Doris :).
I really will try to stop meddling and to get out of your way.

In my requests above, the italics and most of the indenting already had been in place from my original postings of those articles way back when.
But I get your drift. If I fail to control myself ;) from making future requests for the OP, I will deformat before doing so.
I trust that the mandate for nonformatting applies only to explicit requests for the OP.

Actually, it only applies to this OP and other really long fan fest OP's with multiple editors.

If possible, I try to leave stuff the way other fan fest editors wrote it, especially the original poster's work ( in this case karne) But when half of a section is in one style and half is in another, someone has to decide which way to go for a uniform style for a particular section of the document.

In this case, that happened in the articles and threads sections of Max's OP.

For better or worse, this time, the last editor was me, and I made the choice for a simple, unadorned block style, for the reasons I gave. But I have no problem with the OP owner of any thread reformatting my stuff to look the way they prefer it to look as long as they keep the content.

Ultimately, the owner of the OP is the person whose name is on the OP, and I would not want them to be unhappy with what appeared next to their name.

You have not been meddling, you have been contributing, and your contributions are very, very much appreciated.

This thread and many other GS threads have been made much, much better because of your contributions, and I thank you for them.
