This was the killing suspense of the last season - Would he qualify or not - but once he did, and with the tiny margin, I was like  thanks god. Or he may be god himself. That was incredible.

But this year, it should be a formality right ? I mean, such a disaster doesn't happen twice in a row ? :hopelessness:

Of course! This can never happen again. (The last season’s disaster aged me a lot..). I don’t have the slightest idea of GPF2015 without him!:drama:

And here I am recalling the possibility that Yuzu might not have qualified for GPF last year - anyone remembered how close it was?
I think I died a little that day. (that cost me at least one year of my total lifespan)

kind of what I thought last year :slink:

Ah, me too. I couldn't believe how he missed Jason Brown's score by just a tiny bit... I kept trying to tell myself that it was ok! There would be other great skaters too! And I didn't want to wish anybody ill... Well, at least Jeremy Abbott wasn't going to qualify for GPF anyway.... :|

I've already been on edge before GP season even started, because I've been to Finlandia last year as well. And you know what happened :drama: and then COC happened :drama: and then NHK happened :drama: and now I need special hair dye to cover all that gray :hopelessness: (it's kind of unfair. He looks like he's never going to age at all, while we all get gray hair and worry lines  )

And testing the SP and LP in the Challenge comps is a good way to start the season. Him and Brian both know that. :)
True... but he might confound us all by choosing say, Nebelhorn Trophy instead O_o
There were quite a few "big names" there last year... and he's also competed there before, so there's a precedent (2011)

He could even choose Ondrej Nepela, or Lombardia...!

He could, since it will be in September, but I doubt it. He said that Finlandia was one of his favourite place to compete and it would not be a surprise if he chooses to go. And considering how "soon" those competitions are compared to Finlandia Trophy, he may want to have a little more time to prepare.
Except if he decides to go differently and have like a big gap between a Challenge trophy and SC. But there's almost 3 weeks between FT and SC, it can be enough.
At the same time, maybe we would already know if he goes to Lombardia or Nebelhorn instead since it's like a month earlier... Or you know what? Maybe we'll know something this week-end with the coming interview! I doubt it, but hey! We can never know what the kid will do.

Regarding JO, I do recall it was said during June-July that he wasn't going to participate but Javier was instead of him. I wish I remembered where I read that, tho...

Regarding the costume, remember how Brian said the SP will take advantage of his sense of rythm? Maybe we can expect one that will remind of PW's costume. Simple and yet very elegant and cool.

Yeah, I doubt he will say anything... but you never know. Or maybe Brian, Nam, Javier or somebody else at the Cricket Club will accidentally leak something :-D

Deadline for Ondrej Nepela entries is August 15.
Deadline for Lombardia entries is August 17.
Deadline for Nebelhorn entries is August 22.
Deadline for Finlandia entries is Sept 8th.
So the latest we should know for sure, for each competition... will be within a few days of those dates.

Well. The "dead cert" competitions to see Hanyu this season are Skate Canada, NHK, Japan National's, and World's of course.
There still seem to be plenty of tickets available for Skate Canada.
Getting NHK tickets will be a blood bath for Japanese residents, but perhaps not so difficult from abroad?
Japan National's tickets will be as difficult as NHK, and I don't know if they even sell tickets internationally?
Tickets for World's are easily available...

It's almost a certainty that he will make it to the Grand Prix Final too. The best seats may be long gone, but there are still plenty left, and the arena is well designed and small enough that the view should be good wherever you sit.

Finlandia is not a certainty, but I think "very likely"...
Lombardia, Nebelhorn, Ondrej Nepela, etc... "possible, but unlikely" :-D

Oh, speaking of photos (and Finlandia)... I recently re-uploaded lots of photos from Finlandia 2013, including some of Yuzuru.

These are nothing new, I posted them a long time ago on a free Photobucket account - but the free monthly bandwidth allowance was getting used up within about 3 days so I took it all down ^_^; I'm slowly re-uploading stuff to my new site, when I have the time and inclination... :-D

Thanks matmuh for sharing this translated version !! This program is incredibly good. I mean, it learns many things, to skaters (or people with technical knowledge) AND to unadvertised eyes, making it clear with explanations about GOEs, technical stuff...
As a skater, I learned things I wouldn't have thought by my self. For example, the fact that a long jump looks better than a high one (when we are always taught to jump higher), but has a more difficult control of the axis... The physical data as the speeds of jumps, rotation are amazing too.

I laughed when the professor talked about the moment of inertia. It reminded me when I learned it at university and the teacher said "It's like when you look at ice skaters closing their arms to rotate faster" and I was like "hey heyyy did you hear ?! he talked about figure skating ! It's my sport ! he said skating !! *going crazy* " :laugh2:

So thanks a lot for sharing and thanks to the person who did the translation, it must have been long hours of work

Sorry for being off topic about the GPF attendance but I was just watching the fancam from 2015 WC small medal ceremony

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2lpbn3_2015-world-men-small-medal-ceremony-1_sport and just noticed that at 2:22 Denis Ten and Yuzuru just realized that organizer got their placement according to ranking all mixed up and they were trying to confirm it among themselves before informing the organizer  It's so cute haha
