Yulia Lipnitskaya

I wonder how American fans are going to welcome Julia squaring off against their homegirl Gracie. :)

I can't speak for anyone else but my friend and I are looking forward to seeing her at SA. I tend to appreciate good skating and try not to be all nationalistic about it. Don't get me wrong, I will pull for the American girls to do well, but I hope Julia has it together because she is such a beautiful skater and I wish a great season for her.

I think Americans like her, NA in general. Obviously they will root for Gracie more but that's normal. In Russia they root for their skaters also.

I wonder how much do they really know and remember her. Americans have many good skaters and they are very patriotic and supportive to their homegirls.
I think she has most fans in Japan and Europe - Japanese skating fans are just crazy in love with every skater and Europe doesn't really have strong ones now.
Maybe I'm wrong and there will be some nice accents like this.
Can't wait!

Well, yes but I think she'll have some supports.

Ha! Chris and Simon rocks!

You're welcome. :)
The song is so beautiful!
It's about power and longevity of friendship - very touching, but words used are diminutive as it's a camp song for kids. Charming little piece about one of the most important things in life. Only Russians could write song like that, eh...

Question to Russian friends in this thread: how to translate "Ты, да я, да мы с тобой"?

Question to Russian friends in this thread: how to translate "Ты, да я, да мы с тобой"?

It's a russian saying, basically means that two persons do something together, or when two persons are together (in sense of friendship or love). In this particular song this saying can be interpreted like two persons are best friends, just two of them, they do not need anyone else, and nothing can part them.
Word to word translation is 'You and I, and we are together', or even 'You and I, and both of us'

P.S. When I'm lintening to that song I feel really old. I remember singing it when I was ten, when my parents have sent me to pioneer camp for the whole summer. Ah, nostalgia..
