2015-16 Grand Prix assignments

I don't know if this is old info to everyone else but on the ISU chart of ladies entries it says that Roberta RODEGHIERO is a new entry for TEB.

Does anyone know where the season's best list from last season is? I'm assuming that's the list they go by for the replacements? The ISU statistics page now has the seasons best list set up for the new season.

Karen Chen?! Whoop whoop! I'm SOOOO excited now!

ME TOO!

My dad and I, after Nats, assembled a "skater squad" of sorts of the skaters we liked the most: my girl Gracie, his girl Ashley, Mariah (best-dressed and also nicest), the Shibs (he insists on calling Maia Miss Shib for reasons unexplained), Maddie & Max (his favorite pair of the FS and probably mine too), and Tarah & Danny (who we met and decided were tied with Mariah for nicest skaters)-and, of course, everyone's favorite tiny dynamo (Karen).

So, this means that almost our entire "squad"-Gracie, Mariah, Karen, Tarah & Danny-are going to be at SA (only missing the Shibs, A/S and Ashley)-and we have ancestral history in Milwaukee...it's too great a coincidence to be ignored. ;)

On an interesting side note, one of the tweets on the jumbotron at Nationals about her was "And though she be but little, she is fierce." Perfect description. That is where I derive my nickname for her (the Little Firecracker :laugh2:) from.

You met them!!!!!! SWEEEETTTTTT!!!!!

You met them!!!!!! SWEEEETTTTTT!!!!!

Yes! Karen too!

Along with 82,147 screaming 12-year-olds!

Poor girl looked terrified. I imagine that could be intimidating. But what I really remember from that encounter is that, in the picture I took with her, I am staring off into space, she looks ready for the floor to swallow her up, and I, at 5' 4", look about four feet taller than her.

In another one, I'm (unknowingly) leaning on Zachary Donohue. It is very awkward. :laugh2:

And in the one with Tarah and Danny, I'm accidentally doing the same thing, except this time (again, unknowingly) my head was basically on his shoulder. :slink: I have so many weird skater pics...:laugh2:

I took ne with Max Aaron that I would like to investigate for accidental awkwardness but I don't have it on my phone.

Disappointed for Timothy, especially since Ross is probably high enough on the alternate list that he might have got the second on his own.

tbh, I think Mirai would have been a good candidate for the tbd spot, but oh well...karen had a rough outing at glacier falls and we haven't really seen that much of her this season, so the shape that she's in is also a question mark. I think Mirai's scores at collegiates, especially in the long program proved that she's ready to compete. I'm just not quite sure karen is far enough along in preparation for this season since she hasn't really competed all that much. Hope we see that she's farther along with prep at us classic!

Adding on: Looking back at the video the skating lesson posted of karen's sp from glacier falls, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91OAwuH4h0s she has a brace on her knee...is she injured?

And Mirai is third on the alternates list and could easily get a second assignment.

Karen is the current US ladies bronze medalist and earned her spot.

Oh, I didn't mean to come across that way! Karen is a wonderful dynamic skater, but the brace and her jumps at glacier falls were worrying to say the least, and then didn't compete in the long. It seemed as though she had an injury! Based on her nationals freeskate she deserves the spot, but glacier falls was troubling. I just hope she isn't injured and we see a brace-free skate from Karen with her huge jumps at us classic!! Although I do wish that mirai gets a second Grand Prix since it would suck for her to get stuck again when she seems to have gained momentum...

Well, Ross was sixth at Nats and four guys ahead of him already have 2 assignments (Jason, Josh, Max and Adam) and Jeremy is not competing in the GP series this season. He also won a senior B in the Challenger's series and finished second in another, so I think he is a worthy choice.

I hope they will give Timothy a Senior B though.

I always thought spot belonged to Karen Chen, she's USA #3 so I don't see why she doesnt deserve a second spot, they need to nurture her carefully for the future and give her more experience

Right now there is no solid USA #3. Polina comes closest but after that it depends on the day. It could be Karen, Mirai, Courtney or even Mariah Bell if she puts it all together.

There is no solid #3 of course but I'm referring to Nationals results

Karen deserves the spot because she is the US ladies bronze medalist. But the international rankings system messes up on peoples favorites and is hard to understand. I think Mirai is amazing and she will get another GP because countries get to pick replacements when a skater drops out and she is known to under-rotate. So she will get another invite, and has a choice... I adore Mirai and she loves skating and is still at it. Any skater who was 4th at Olympics is great. She will find her way.

Initially I was not impressed by Gracie Gold but you know what, she failed to make it out of regionals many times because of nerves and burst onto International scene late. So she really missed the JGP experience and is learning on the critical side of seniors. But she is so good technically and spins are awesome. If she could relax more world champion no doubt. Maybe never but she is a great skater. Upto her.
