Yulia Lipnitskaya

Hello elainne! Welcome to the pack! :yay::party:

What we know after SP:
- the music is good,
- the jumps are improved or at least not worse,
- skating skills and maturity got better,
- choreo is interesting,
- she is pleased and looks happy.

What we don't know is her stamina atm and it's uber important factor.
Today's free skate will show.

Well I thought it was beautiful....yes it's similar to Schindler's List but soon much has changed. The choreography suits her well and she's a lot more emotive...as for jumps, she's obviously still adjusting the Lutz...she was probably just thinking about it and hesitated, hence the fall. Hey, better to think about it now then to pretend it's not a problem until actual competitions I guess. No biggie. I thought she was doubling all the other jumps on purpose as this is only a test.

The choreography need some serious work ASAP! Beginning was fine, but the rest was very muddled (especially the step sequence:unsure:). The music, whilst gorgeous, note-wise might be considered repetitive and therefore requires some structural narrative (choreographically speaking) and some epic emoting.

The jumps, her lutz edge (from the vid) seems fine to me, just need for her to put it together in competition with the music. I think she might've been marking the other jumps by doing just doubles.

Yulia needs a trip to the US ASAP! Get that 7-8hrs ice-time, fix that FS choreo (immediately!!!) and polish up those jumps and presentation skillz!

All things aside, Yulia is really growing into a stunning young lady

I don´t think it was so bad, yes, the step seq is not good, same in the sp but the rest of the program was beautiful and especially Yulia´s skating looks better. Don´t hate me but her skating always looked beautiful to me but kind of shallow.

I noticed she was doubling them but I thought it was part of the choreography. Was she messing up?

To be brutally honest, the thing that bugs me most about the program is that at the moment it is boring  (and it shouldn't be. My Yulia does-not-do-boring...ever!). She needs to figure out a way to connect to the music more, whether it's adding a narrative, smoothing it out with some transitions (and/or poses) or changing up some choreographic levels...whatever works.

^Isn't that why she's coming back to the U.S. for a bit? Since she loves the ice-time and all that, I think she should just stay long term for training :rolleye:

please, no more poses, enough in the SP.

I saw beautiful beginning, I saw nice arm movement, transitions, elegance, but somehow it didn't make one great entity yet. In my opinion she was skating small (speed, ice-covering) in the second part of the program - is it the program or was she tired?
I think program is OK, but I can't simply tell if it suits Julia's style until she has stamina to perform on high level for the whole 4 minutes. Maybe you have more experience to assess it separately from the execution?

They said the FS wasn't finished after their trip to the U.S. Hopefully Marina studies this and makes the right adjustments when she goes back which she just said she was doing. No need for panic alarms because she is still improving in major ways:thumbsup:

I think she got off a bit and the spiral where she holds her leg seemed out of place. There are some really good moments though. The entry into layback swells with the music and offers a dramatic effect. I like that she has slowed down and is controlling her movements better.

I still want to see a bit more fight from her though. I'm worried she has stage fright and isn't performing well and is letting it get the best of her. Come on Julia!!! I can see the improvements and the program is beautiful. I don't care if she goes clean TBH. If she just fights for every second out there then I'm sure she'll be on podiums this year.

In both programs, the music is empty, not Julia's. Zueva is a good Director, but masterpieces and findings from it is not worth waiting. Tutberidze did not return to her stamina and confidence. But Julia settles into her new body and there is hope.

That would be really expensive to do and I doubt she would get the funding to support that.
