2015-16 State of U.S. Men's Figure Skating

Woot woot woot for Max, especially when some kept nattering about how opera and ballet weren't Max without ever (I think) watching those programs.:cheer: Max erased my doubts at WTT, maybe now this skate will convince others.

Great comment about Nathan calling Philip Mills:biggrin: but he would need to want it as much as Max evidently does.

And Jason's October is insane:shocked:

No need for Max to fill Josh's skates. They will stand side by side, on the Worlds team together for the first time.
 
I haven't posted here before, but I was very impressed with the video of the quad lutz that Adam did yesterday. It looks more rotated that last year. Maybe he shouldn't be counted out. I was also impressed by the improvements Max made. Jason hasn't had a great summer. It will be interesting to see how he rebounds.

It looks better than what we have seen in the past for sure. But he has always been able to do some in practice i thought. The trick is doing it in program - this looks like it may have been a sorta run through... no music, but he did go into the choreography right after which is nice to see.

Max should certainly be respected for his efforts yesterday.

As for Jason - there is fan gossip he landed his quad in his program yesterday so...we are still firmly in who the heck knows :shrug: land. I am not sure he sees himself as needing to rebound... i think he just thinks he was still learning the programs.
 
It's to bad that the most well rounded US Men's skater is also injury prone and might never reach his potential. I'm not sure any other US Men's skater can reach the World podium other then Josh at least until Nathan goes Senior and gets a couple years under his belt.

FWIW, this morning's mini-update to my own post re Josh:
On the USFS assignments page, he has been removed as a Skate Canada International entry.
But he remains listed as an NHK entry.

That said ... as previously discussed, errors and/or obsolete information are not uncommon on the USFS assignments page.

(I know that Josh was removed from both events on the ISU GP chart. But the event pages for SCI and NHK have not been updated to remove his name. I'm clinging to a micro-shred :hopelessness: of hope that maybe competing at NHK still is a possibility for Josh???)

I just wish someone from Josh's camp would tell us what's going on and what the injury is. Seems like nothing ever comes out from his camp before a new season about how things are going. :confused:
 
NHK official page has announced as well that Josh withdrew due to injury, it was posted in his Fan thread :(

Thx, yes, I had seen the NHK site (although I did not mention it in my post above).

But I still cannot help wondering why the USFS page is not in synch with what is shown elsewhere. YMMV.

Ok then, I'll hold to the same tiny beak of hope that you do. It would be a real shame if Josh didn't get to compete in the GP at all, specially after how excited he was to go to NHK again.

not sure what the case was when you last check, but I am showing Dolensky as having been added to Skate Canada as of 9/25. So maybe they deleted Josh only from Skate Canada because that was who they had a replacement set up for.

When I looked earlier, Josh's name had disappeared from SCI, but Dolensky's name was not there yet.

:agree: Great news for Dolensky :).

In an old interview, I remember Josh saying that whenever Tim comes to Colorado Springs (for skating purposes), he always stays at Josh's house.
So I imagine that they are good friends, who perhaps both have some mixed emotions at this news: regret that one can't compete, but excitement that the other now has a wonderful opportunity.

I bet in a way Nathan Chen is kicking himself for staying a Junior. He might have gotten 2 GP events after all with Josh being out.

Joshua Farris, the 2015 U.S. bronze medalist, will not compete at his 2015 Grand Prix Series events, Skate Canada and NHK Trophy. Farris is recovering from a concussion and will resume training as supported by his physicians and coaching team.
