The hydroblade arm movements ! I just love how he puts attention on every details, just as he does on the spins. (Funny thought: I saw the word "hydroblade" several times when we were waiting for SEiMEI vid, and I was just wondering, "what the hell is this ?!", in French, we call this move "the spider" which is definitely less glamourous :laugh2: )
I wish I could to an hydroblade as cool as Yuzu's. I'm training hard.

Thank you as always is amazing with your updates

Returning to kenji Panic Room I only read the reviews of Yuzuru on your dash. To this day I avoid seeing those pictures, I'm glad that everything worked out

Reinforcing the information given by you the doctor's test is normal to detect any brain damage, only they forgot to use in the primary language of Yuzuru

Looks like he got Nam the Shure SE846 earphones. Maybe its an early X-mas gift? Very sweet of him

Jesus Christ $999? Though I can't see the tweet, it's very sweet of Yuzu to give Nam that. He also has an obsession with earbuds  could be avery early Xmas gift or a very late birthday gift, or maybe he just felt like getting him something. He is very thoughtful towards everyone around him

I understood he was asked 100-7-7-7-7... and so on (どんどん引いて- dondonhiite- in Japanese). He added that he was stressed more by his wound in his chin, besides he didn't feel like answering that in English, so he told Brian and the American doctor that he could not answer that but he was conscious.

Yuzuru & Nomura Mansai Talkshow - Sept 22, 2015

Angelica Yuzu @YHIFG FB said:
This was what "News Every" said in their post: On Sept 22nd, "News every" will air the conversation between Sochi Olympics gold medalist Yuzuru Hanyu and Kyogen master Mansai Nomura. Hanyu-senshu's programme this season uses music from the movie "Onmyoji". Nomura-san acted as Abeno Seimei in the movie and Hanyu asked him about the key points (or secrets) of expression.

http://yuzuland.tumblr.com/post/129668349562/yuzuru-hanyus-interview-with-mansai-nomura-on
Mansai wasn't saying that Yuzuru's pose looked like flamenco. He said that if Mansai himself were to do the pose without the eboshi and kariginu costume, it would look somewhat like a flamenco pose. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between Mansai's Seimei's pose to his "flamenco" pose though.
Mansai has something special. he’s trained himself in his hard circumstances. His family has passed on the traditional art for generations. Yuzu wanted to see him since he was younger. Further, the place where they talked is the nou stage. The collider at the left shows the boundary between this world (live) and the next (death). The place itself has something divine and mysterious. Yuzu must have absorbed so many worthy things and shall cultivate them inside himself from now on.

This news article mentions that Yuzu's new book had a huge response and is Number 1 on the Amazon list. It will be out on 25th of this month.
"The book is a collection of the quotes and photos of figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu, affectionately called 'Yuzu'. Through his words, we will see: the responsibilities and challenges of a gold medalist, his thoughts towards failure, how he faces weaknesses, his indefatigable spirit and tenacity towards winning, his pride as a skater, his love for skating, his feelings for the disaster-affected areas, his gratitude to all the people around him."

Example:
"I alone can do nothing."
"After climbing over one wall. there will always be another wall."
"The problem is my own capability."

According to this article on icenetwork Yuzuru is scheduled to return to Toronto this week.

Quote telling us about his planned stay in Toronto for the upcoming first part of the season: "Barrie prepares for "mayhem": Many were surprised when Hanyu elected to compete in Barrie, instead of his regular "B" event, the Finlandia Trophy. Last month, Japan's Olympic champion held a media day at the Cricket Club that drew 55 Japanese journalists.

"After he announced his plans, the phone was ringing off the hook for tickets to the event," Orser said. "Book your room early, Japanese fans are coming. It's going to be mayhem."

Orser added that Hanyu, who arrives at the Cricket Club this week, will train far more in Toronto this season than he did for the 2014-15 campaign.

"He will stay right through until Skate Canada, and stay after Skate Canada, and then we will go to NHK," Orser said. "I will have a lot more time with him, which was kind of missing last year."

Competition/Ice Shows Videos & Translation
Spanish Commentary with English Subs from Worlds 2012.
They don't talk much until after he finishes, but since then, they also knew he was going to be something special

English translation of:

- Italian Commentary for Yuzuru's LP at GPF 2014 https://youtu.be/igOjX9usQuw

It was translated by Blue69 from YH forum, edited by Carotide. The 2 guys who commenting are very knowledgeable of figure skating, they rarely gush over any skater, and yet they're praising Yuzuru so much here.

So this is the where the "Welcome to Planet Hanyu!" statement originates! Surely enjoyed their enthusiasm.

French commentary video of the 2012 WC FS, I'll be so grateful if some of our French speakers from this thread can share some highlights of the commentary! Pretty please.

This is the French Belgium version, they don't talk much during the program but are really praising him when they do.
Translation for WC 2012 french commentary :

"Yuzuru Hanyu, 17 yo, Junior world champ two years ago, an enormous potential. -First participation to a World championship. He had a problem in the short yesterday, he landed the quad well but then singled the lutz, he said he lost his focus, so we find him now in 7th before the free. His particularity; huge speed. Quad toe here. Wow if he holds on the rythm to the end, it should be very interesting. *fall* Ah this step sequence was amazing but what a shame !! Too much energy put in it... Unbelievable! 3A-3T right after the fall. *end* - He's amazing... this kid... I feel like calling him like this because he's one actually. So much energy, generosity, the audience is on their feet, they applaused from the beginning to the end. We all already forgot this fall during the step sequence, the rest is so magnificent, magical, call it as you want... - But we don't have to forget it, because it reminds us that he's still human, not an alien. -Look, he's breathless and he's crying -It's unbelievable. This is a program that will be written in History, -What happened is absolutely unbelievable. -It's marvelous. I hope you enjoyed, because there was emotion, technique, there was suspense and unexpected things in this program. -The frenzy took the audience, there are lots of Japanese fans, but not only. -He's highly sensitive, thin-skinned, and when it goes well, he manage to convey this emotion, I had goosebumps during a good half of the program! -It will be hard to get over all this. - This program is gonna hit hard. In the transitions, the interpretation, it was really strong. Judges should be generous in the components -It's seems to be hard physically to recover. -It's totally understandable. He gave everything from the beginning to the end of the program, and I told you it's a powerful skating but he had to hold on to the end, and his fall tired him, having to get back on his feet, in the middle of the step steq. The mastery of the jumps, of the spins, the Speed of the spins... There was everything here. And we see here, a gave a little too much in this step, he was taken away by the energy, when turning from backward to forward, a kind of stupid mistake... He has to keep is focus until the end. It already played a trick to him in the short... -Emotion also for his coach, Nanami Abe, he made cry and shiver more than one person here. -He comes from Sendai His rink was damaged by the earthquake last year - 173.99 pts for this Free ! And look the points just for the technical elements it's unbelievable! 251pts! -They will have to catch him! -More than 20 points ahead leader Denis Ten."

It's quite funny to translate commentaries of a program ! When you read it without the vid, it's a bit awkward, like there are lot of infos just put there and there with no logical connection.

Also, here is really short 2012 WC interview of Yuzu, after he won the bronze medal. The interview is actually conducted by Eurosports, which we really don't see much nowadays. I wish we will have more interviews by ESP in the future!

The 12WC Men's Medal Ceremony in HD, this is also from the same French Belgium broadcast (RTS deux channel).

I ran into this while browsing on YT: http://youtu.be/wv0iyET_uOI
His smile at 0:36 is just so adorable

Found this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBt0WQelZdA. Such a good dancer.

And He looked very nice in that costume.

Does anyone know what he was saying in this video. I understood the Thank you, but then he slips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoF-Cy5c26c

He said, 今日はまたお願いします[Kyou ha (read as wa) mata onegaishimasu]. Onegaishimasu is a little hard to translate since I find it varies per situation, but for me Yuzu said: "Again, today please be give me your support".

Here's some links to tide as over

FrOI 2011 clip
Shizuka, Takeshi & Kenji talks a bit about Yuzu and we are reminded about Kenji's axel skills as well as Yuzu's comments about jumping 2A in group numbers for ice shows. They will also do an encore of Yuzu x Shizuka's 2013 Friends+ talk on the 9/27 at 2:30 PM (if my kanji memory serves me right)

Akko FS tidbits
Akiko answers some questions about figure skating. From what I can recall, she talked about Goshikinuma pond in Sendai, rink temperature, the costs of costumes and boots/blades, skaters' feet, why do they blow their noses prior to performances and how to do it covertly like Queen Akiko does; what do they do with flowers/gifts, how men receives expensive presents like clothes and bags and what was the most expensive she received.

Vids (C): YzRIKO & yuzupinoko

I haven't had a chance to watch Akiko's video but what was the reason she gave for blowing their nose before skating?

Video downloader
I also can't play the youku video. But I use this site savevideo.me & download the video with downloader. Oh and here's the direct link of the video, if you have a downloader like IDM, you can add the URL and download it.
Hope it helps.

I usually use ClipGrab for YouTube and Dailymotion videos, but it doesn't work for youku.

Try keepvid, it downloads videos from youku as well.

How else you can convey onmyoji character if you don't copy his signature poses? I mean- you can't even wear the costume right because you can't skate in that amount of fabric all over your body. Oh wait, you can use some sort of a dialogue from the movie- why not, Jorik Hendrickx just did. (I think it was awful though). Kidding, of course.;)

I think the key is to understand why SEIMEI does a certain pose and the meaning of it. I don't think Yuzuru should just copy SEIMEI's pose just because SEIMEI looks cool doing it. (I believe every movement in Mansai's choreography has deep meaning.) Every movement should have a meaning and has a clear intention of what the performer wants to show/express. This applies to any choreography. (COP makes it really difficult to achieve that since skaters try to cram in as much content as possible.) Copying without understanding will make the movement look very superflous because the performer simply did the move but did not express anything with the move. The same movement does not necessarily express the same meaning in different settings. So Yuzuru needs to adapt SEIMEI'S pose from on stage to on ice, not just copy it entirely. I don't think he should just copy the pose without thinking about why he is doing that pose and what he wants to express with that pose. If he has a clear vision, he can make the appropriate adjustment.

His LP is very difficult, but I don't expect him to bomb it (not like 2014 COC or 2012 SA level of bombing). I actually think the only risky element in the LP is the 3rd quad in the second half. He used to struggle with the 4S, but I expect his 4S to be more consistent (maybe not perfect) this season. He has very solid triples because he rarely falls or pops his triples even when he is not healthy or well trained or tired, e.g. 2014 NHK (he popped 3A is to avoid zayaking), 2015 WC. (I don't think Yuzu has the same issue as Javi. I think Javi often pops his triples because his triple jumps are not very solid.) His stamina is not that weak. Nobody attempts his layout. If he doesn't pop any of his quads (he usually pops his quads when he is either unhealthy or not well trained, e.g. 2014 NHK, 2015 WC, 2013 4cc, 2012 GPF) , he almost always execute the BV. He also has more time for training and is healthy this season. So I don't expect too many mistakes in his FP because only 1.5 out of 8 jumps (1 for the 3rd quad and 0.5 for the 4S) have risks. As he gets used to the layout, I think he will eventually land the 3rd quad. It's not going to be easy for him to skate 100% clean. I expect his FP performances to be similar to his FP performances in 2013-2014 season: some mistakes (2-3 mistakes) in the GP, only one mistake in mid-season and eventually clean at the end of the season (wishful thinking).

I actually think his SP is more risky than his LP. There are only three jumps, but two of the three jumps are risky, i.e. 4T in the second half and 3Lz-3t with more difficult entry. Yuzuru himself said he is not a good SP skater. but he almost always made more mistakes in the FP than in the SP since he turned senior (except in 2012 WC, 2013 WC, 2014 WC and 2012 GPF). There are only three jumps in the SP, even one mistake in the SP is costly and may lower a skater's placement significantly. Maybe that's why he thinks his SP performances are bad when in fact most of his LP performances had more mistakes than his SP performances. His performance in the SP depends on the jump layout. He skated PW clean many times because he was comfortable with the jump layout (4T/3A, 3Lz-3t). He did't have trouble with any of the solo jumps or combo. He never skated his 2011-2012 SP clean because he struggled with the 4t-3t. He also never skated his 2014-2015 SP clean because he struggled with the 3Lz-3t. Now with the new layout (2 risky jumps), it may be more difficult for him to skate clean. I think he needs to fight for his SP more than his LP.

- Watch these with speaker on #1, #2 (anyone can translate what he is saying here?)

This is from an interview by Shuzo Matsuoka which was broadcast on April 13, 2015. Just prior to this GIF, Shuzo had said, "Quad jumps – I've always thought of them as being very difficult. What do you think?" In the GIF, Yuzuru is replying, "To (be able to) jump them is a matter of course (i.e., not something extraordinary)." Yuzuru went on to say in the interview that when he is unable to complete a quad jump, he gets very angry (at himself). He said that to successfully complete a quad jump is something that he expects of himself.

Weren't they talking about a 4A in particular?

Weren't they talking about a 4A in particular?

No. They were speaking about quadruple jumps in general. Shuzo went on to say that a little while ago he never thought that he would hear someone say that a quad was something that could be done as a matter of course. He reviewed how the quad had progressed since the Vancouver Olympics of 2010. In the free skate at the Vancouver Olympics, 10/24 skaters challenged the quad jump. At the Sochi Olympics, 14/24 skaters had quads in their free skate. At the World Championships of 2015, 19/24 skaters had quads in their free program. Furthermore, 10 out of the 19 who had quads in their free program had multiple types of quad jumps. The question he was asking at this point was how there had been so much progress in the course of five years. He went on to say that we were now in the era of quad jumps and pointed out that Yuzuru had been practising quad loop jumps. Yuzuru wondered whether they may soon be entering the era of quintuple jumps.
