2015 Japan Open

So if I live on eastern time, what time do I need to get up to watch the even live? Or is it not going to be streamed?

The show is taped in the afternoon and shown on prime time. It will be broadcast 5:30AM EST(6:30PM JST) on Tokyo TV. All the results will be known well before that though.

So other than that one weird Skate America with two one off ladies 3As have any other competitions had two ladies lade 3As? I think maybe 1991 Worlds but I am not sure if Midori landed any at that competition.

So this could be a rare event. It could be the first night of 2 ladies with 3As in one event under IJS!

Hey everyone! New member here so this is my first post. Super excited for this event (three huge comebacks yayyyy) :party2:
I know the event won't be live-streamed but in the past how quickly were the programs posted on youtube? If I recall correctly it was pretty quick after they skated, but was it at the conclusion of the event or like a few minutes later? Just wondering if anyone knew off-hand

The clip with 2A-3T can be seen here, incl. part of Lisa's practice, and more practice of Mao:
(Oh, this one has English translation channel!)

I like the statement by Mao: 3A is no longer a special jump anymore. It means she's treating all the jumps equally.

And let's see how much Mao has been working on her Lz:

Her hard work makes a dedicated fan smile~

Welcome to the Forum! Post often and long.
The event can be viewed from this link: http://mov3.co/en/tvtokyo/ Broadcasting begins from 6:30 Japan time. I hope it works.
The broadcast is a few hours delayed.

I doubt we see any video(except maybe cell phone video) until it's broadcast... so those of us in the US won't see anything until the 5-8am time frame. Last year it was shown on TV immediately after the event was over while this year it will be a few hours later.

Awww okay. Was hoping I could watch it before I went to bed but alas, guess I'll have to wake up early again to watch the broadcast lol
Slightly off-topic but does it not amuse anyone else that TV Tokyo's logo is an inexplicably limp banana?

Hypothetically speaking if there was a live stream (which there is not) the actual live competition begins I believe at 11:30 pm Eastern US.

@sorenkay - Thanks for all the great info!

Am I correct in my understanding that the event will start in approximately 1 1/2 hours?

THIS IS MY FIRST POST EVER!!!! YAY!!!! SO EXCITED TO JOIN YOU ALL, CHAT, AND HEAR YOUR OPINIONS! Is anyone doing live play by plays? Like what each skater lands, if they were successful or if they two-foot or fall, ranking, and such? Is there a website in English with live results? Please provide links if possible. The men's field is quite weak except for the return of PChan but the ladies field is probably the strongest we will see until the ISU Grand Prix Final. Not missing many top names. Its gonna be interesting to see Sotnikova and for her to prove that her OGM wasn't just a fluke and a one off. Radionova is really the only top name missing, Lipnitskaia had a bad year last year so i wouldn't consider her a top contender. Hopefully she has a great redemption season though. I'm really pulling for Mao! I really want her to have a great season! She deserves it! She will be a headliner this season for sure! Last year was so boring without her! This year is gonna be the battle of the triple axel with Mao and Elizaveta! I have a feeling that it's success or failure will decide many competitions for them this year! who do you think is gonna be the most successful this year? Who will be world champion? Anyone have any comments or concerns?

I've expressed my admiration for Mao's unwavering determination to first relearn her jumping techniques and then to conquer the 3A and I had faith in her achieving her goals. Her 3A looked so effortless and matter of fact so I believe as long as she can stay relaxed, she will be able to land it in competition. Japan Open is a relatively stress free and joyous situation and will serve well as a great testing ground for her competitive debut of 3A.
