Rika Hongo

I'm watching her program for a second time right now. Her commitment to the program is excellent.
So much fire! She won't let anyone forget that she's in the running for the medals too along with Mao and Satoko.

Congrats on 1st in the SP, with the highest TES and PCS  Good luck in the FS!!! I think she can win this :cheer::cheer::cheer:

I looooove Rika's new program! I actually think her more extroverted style appeals to me more than Satoko's does (though Satoko wins on posture). Good luck to her in the LP!

Just saw her FS from the show posted above. If she lands her jumps, I can see her bringing the house down

Statements I was not expecting to ever utter: Rika Hongo has my favorite ladies' SP out of the ones we've seen.

(This is coming from someone whose previous opinion of her was that she was really boring.)

Congrats for 1st place! And bravo to Akiko Suzuki for such an amazing program! If she does well in the FS she'll probably win.

I really liking her SP as well! I'm glad she's doing something unique and creative.

Strong skate, congrats!
Can't say I'm too happy she beat my Julia, but I sincerely like Rika, so... good luck with a podium, girl!;)

Congratulations to Rika for winning the SP! I think she made Akiko cry again yesterday.
I was a bit concerned that she might have missed some training time during the off season due to her back injury but I'm glad to see the consistent Rika back.
Good luck to her in the FS (and to Julia too ).

I am on Team Yulia all the way, but I am so torn when it comes to Rika. I loved her program so much (best SP I've seen this season so far!) and her consistency is amazing. She is by far my favorite Japanese lady after Mao, and reminds me so much of Shizuka. I want her to establish herself as the #2 Japanese lady this year, because the alternatives are :slink: (okay, I like Marin and Yuna too, but they are still very young) Winning this competition is a good place to start. Obviously, she's not touching Mao at nationals or anywhere they meet, but once Mao is gone after 2018, she's the one I have the most hope for. So much skill, so much improvement in such a short time, and no foreseeable puberty issues in sight. Her likable, goofy character is just a plus lol.

I'm going to visit Finlandia Trophy also this time and I can't wait to see her new free program. I hope she will impress me and win the competition! :cheer:

I prefer this over the livestream video. She looks faster, less sloppy towards the end and more in sync with the music.
Thanks, I enjoyed this because you really see how great she looks, like a star. The judges can't possibly ignore her when she's looking like that. ;)
I think her timing was very good and it is crucial for that choreography so that it works and it did.
