He's all over the news in Japan this afternoon. It's nice to see him.

That's great to hear :cheer:. I'm watching some of his interviews clips after the SP, feel a bit concern for him with all the stress and expectation that are upon him.

This photo..the colour of costume is . Just need that gold part of be the same light material so that it flows down rather than sticks out. But the costume looks ok in motion.

A fan project runaway alternate design

The tweet with this photo ..."Hhmm I wonder whether the 21 year old and his 16 year old brother"

More fanart #1 (the colour is ), #2, #3, #4

A hug with Mervin

I remember this from my Art history class from way back. It's a Japanese art technique of repairing what was once broken or damaged with gold so that it doesn't conceal the "scars" but rather, enhance it. They would embrace the history behind it and accept it as part of what makes the the piece distinctive. Its a very beautiful process and ideology.

Kudos to the fan who thought of this. Perhaps its his own way of embracing the scars from last season.....
That is amazing.

Not in Japan only. I bet those 20000 smth on-liners who watched Yuzu's SP live around the globe really.:)

He thinks by the next Olympic top skaters will have 2 quads in their SP. So he is putting quad in the second half of his SP to make it more difficult to prepare for that? I'm not sure I understand it rightly. I hope Japanese poster will help us.

Yes, if he is able, he says he wants to challenge 2 quads. --Something he's working towards.

Just watched the SP. Didn't think it was a good idea to set the alarm for 2-3 am or so. I might tonight, though, as I don't have to work tomorrow.

Really do miss the rain of flowers and poohbears. I guess it's not allowed at the event? But how do they keep people from bringing and throwing stuff?

As for the costume... uhm... the image Pamina posted was spot-on, unfortunately. Those gold side-thingies are terrible. I just don't get the point. The costume is perfectly fine without them.

They repeatedly ask that people do not throw anything on the ice, for the safety of the skaters. And people just listen. Sometimes, nothing more is needed ^_^.

(Sigh) people are already screaming that Yuzuru was over scored and that Nam was better. Hanyu's scores were completely normal for him. I thought the judging was fair. Nam was great I watched him on live stream but he still a ways to go before he can catch Hanyu. I think by 2018 he'll give Hanyu, Javier, and Denis a run for their money! I'm just so sick and tired of people complaining when Hanyu makes mistakes but when his rivals make similar errors all of a sudden there are no complaints because that skater is their favorite. Stop attacking other skaters to make your favorite look better!
End Rant. Sorry I just needed to get that off of my chest.

I'm totally with you. Yuzuru has proven he can skate over the 100pts when he goes clean. Being 7pts below with the mistake on the 4T is not especially shocking, when you see the quality in every elements aside. Haters will hate ;)

Same sigh here. Why can't we cheer for our favorite without attacking other people? Is it really that hard to do?

Nam got away with his questionable lutz take off edge and rotation on his 4T. If any, the technical panel is very harsh on Yuzu yet very lenient on Nam.

Alright guys I won't be able to wake up on time for the free tomorrow (time zone difference), so... good luck for whoever will be watching and following live update, and good luck for Yuzu too!! :cheer: hope he'll be able to perform it well. Also not to get too tense. May his mind and body feels light. :agree:

p.s. I know I'm gonna have to catch up to probably over 10 pages (maybe even 15 or more haha) but as long as you guys are happy then I would be too!

Haven't seen anyone post this yet, but Hanyu-san will skate 4th in the second group; Nam is 1st in the second group.

Anyone watching live practice? I think they are a bit late no?

People will always go for the head of who's at the top. I don't give it much thought because it leaves a sour aftertaste to the competition I enjoyed, and it's always the same posters so no big deal. We know how the dynamics of figure skating fans in general work, everyone roots for his/her favorite(s) and will hold them under a different light than the rest of the field, same thing with skaters someone doesn't particularly like, they will be harsher on him/her/them. There are few who can be objective with their faves.
I don't see anything wrong with the scores IMO, the scores could vary a little but by a point or two, certainly not enough to get Nam above Yuzuru. But that's just me of course.

In the beginning I was quite worked up about those comments too, but I've since learn to ignore and differentiate between constructive criticism and those that are not. I choose to follow this sport and read this forum because it adds to my enjoyment; why do things that kill that?? ;)

In certain angles the new costume actually looked really nice; the color combination is great and it does give a regal feeling with the gold.

Men are on ice now. First group.
