I took the chance to fly up from New York City, not knowing if I could get a ticket & how I'd keep my seat if I got one. Then, as soon as I got there, I met won0066 - we just happened to arrive at the same time & were maybe the only North Americans in line that early. We agreed to save each other's seat. Then, it turned out that I'd read her blog via goldenskate & she already followed me on Twitter. We managed to have the same great seats throughout the competition - by getting up & out before dawn (but we were too keyed up to sleep much anyway!). It was a magical experience. (& all sorts of things went magically, including me being able to see Niagara Falls from the window of my plane & my new iPhone 6S arriving the day before I left, so I had plenty of storage & could take those HD videos I'm glad you enjoy on my Instagram!)

(I forgot to start with a quote; I'll put another post after this with that.)

 I noticed that too.
Why does Yuzuru have this HELPLESS aura about him that makes other skaters want to help him get down from podiums? Remember this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbRPrJ_gdbw
Javier and Richard are gentlemen! And Yuzu was like..." Nope dude, I got this."

Hahahas!!! I remember just A LOT OF my friends and people I know (including my parents) think he looks like the type who would need help/ isn't very strong. I guess his face really deceives a lot of people who doesn't know that a samurai warrior lives within yuzu's soul!

IKR! :laugh2: Too bad or fortunately? OR he might have pretend he didn't noticed it to save some awkwardness :laugh2: Even Sean is unsure whether to proceed with his offer or not XD

Well..thank goodness Yuzuru's dorkiness did not occur to him at that moment or he could have accepted the hand AND cling on to Sean's neck to get down from the pod. (like a "princess carry" or something):drama:

congratz to our Prince!! its a great start to season :cheer: as everyone said not perfect but a lot of room to improve and it is exciting!
i am surprised to see he got level2 for stsq, i dont think its cause of original choreo but he missed a step or two, maybe there will be comparison video so that we will see it  btw thanks for editing his practice videos to make perfect SEIMEI program!!
about costume, i actually like new changes (definitely more than Chopin costume haha) but for the sake of "cross rolls" i wouldnt mind tighter one :o:

Question about the step sequence: Even in the runthrough I thought rhat while it was amazing choreographically, it didn't look too difficult in terms of levels, nothing like the Chopin step sequence. In protocols, they it was marked as level 2. Do you think it was designed this way in order to give Yuzuru more rest before the third quad and other jumps, or did the team miscalculate? Or perhaps Yuzuru did something wrong? I hope it was supposed to be this way and they're ok with level 2 because that step sequence is goreous very effective despite its simplicity.

I haven't even forgiven them yet for the Hanyu Yuzura and Yuzuru Hanya. And now THIS?!
I found the link to a Dutch new site (the page still exists), where they call him Yazuru Hanya.
But the NOS.nl page, decent news site as it usually is, has a history of being awful with the names of sports people. Most recent example, just for a good laugh: http://nos.nl/artikel/2062890-kunstrijdster-wories-zoekt-nieuwe-uitdaging-in-canada.html How can you manage to misspell three names in one tiny news article? Eric Ratford, Bruno Mascotte (*LOL*), and, this one takes the cake, the NRW Trophy in Dordrecht (instead of Dortmund, Dordrecht is a Dutch city).
At least I know that whenever I find a Dutch news article misspelling Yuzuru's name, they're not doing it on purpose.

There were some wonderful moments from the medal ceremony....i will write them up in my blog entry on the plane ride home...but one of them was Yuzu....after skating to center ice and bowing...he went to the podium, stopped, and instead of his usual jumping directly on it.....he took his right skate and tapped it to see if it was strong enough. Then he stepped onto it.

So cute and adorable!!

Hey there!

I think it's more likely he missed something. I heard experience from competitive skaters and coaches who said that the levels in Stsq can be very hard to hit, wth looooooots of criteria and a panel can easily not give a level. Here, they seemed not very friendly to him. I think they will make some arrangement to avoid this, because every point is important, and at Yuzu's level, it shouldn't be a problem to up the sequence, without making an incredible amount of extra effort.

Or an ASSASIN at that.
Even Daisuke once said that YUZURU look like a grass eater on the outside but is actually a meat eater inside. I guess that's why he EATS up his competitors.
Because of this deceitful face. :agree:

Yes, the technical panel was harsh on him in general. Were the technical specialists Canadian?

 LOL! Don't they have editing departments?

,
I was surprised by the mistakes on the 3A. I don't see why he only did 2T after the first, which wasn't that bad. Maybe his left shoulder was too far behind, so he could not (or prefered not) go for a 3T ?
:

i read a twitter about the point. it says as follows. he troubled landing in 4T in the latter half. he was cautious about the case where the landing might be judged as DR not UR. if so, 4T became 3T, and it would violate the rule that the same kind of triple cannot be repeated over once (he already did 3A twice.). thus he did 2T not 3T intentionally for avoiding the case.

hahahas, i don't know well about the rule.:p

HI hamaguri! Where have you been? (as if I didn't know you've been working) Right?

Oh thank you ! This joins up with what HanDomi said. Again, unbelievable how he can evaluate the situations in all possibilities during the program! When I'm in trouble just trying to stay focused to avoid falls and mistakes, he puts up tons of strategy for every move he makes.
