Just watched Yuzu's fs, very smart on that 3-1-3 combo change. But his steps and posture during that steps are not as good as his op - a bit rough. But it is just the start of the season. I am sure he will make it better next time.

i read a twitter about the point. it says as follows. he troubled landing in 4T in the latter half. he was cautious about the case where the landing might be judged as DR not UR. if so, 4T became 3T, and it would violate the rule that the same kind of triple cannot be repeated over once (he already did 3A twice.). thus he did 2T not 3T intentionally for avoiding the case.

hahahas, i don't know well about the rule.:p
rule is you can repeat 2 kind of quad or triple, remember he repeated 3A and 3Lz last year?
also DR doesnt count as triple so he would be safe even if he went for 3T after 3A
and even if he thought his 2nd quad would be counted as 3T he would be repeating 3T and 3A instead of 4T and 3A so he would be safe again :)

he was definitely not pushing that much trough footwork here, because I guess he was afraid he will have no energy to pull off quad after that, but i am sure it will all come together trough season

 LOL! Don't they have editing departments?
They should. I just don't get it. But the commentator for Dutch figure skating on the associated public TV channels (read: not Eurosport, but they do Olympics and Worlds, IIRC) is the worst with pronouncing names, so seeing it written in news articles doesn't surprise me anymore, either. It still annoys me, though.:scowl:

Or an ASSASIN at that. [emoji23]
Even Daisuke once said that YUZURU look like a grass eater on the outside but is actually a meat eater inside. I guess that's why he EATS up his competitors.
Because of this deceitful face. :agree:
Yea!! He also eats US up without us realizing it, and when we realized it, we're already consumed by his deadly cuteness and coolness hahas!!

If that's really what he's thinking, he's scarily quick minded...... but I do think it's planned, the 3A-2T

Guess the podium was too tall to jump on it

I think it's more like he doesn't trust the MATERIAL of the podium and was thinking along the lines of.. "Is this safe or not?" as he tested it with his blades. I can even hear the tok! tok! And yeah...it sounds very WOOD to me :biggrin:

He reminds me of the little elephant in Tarzan the part he said *touch water* "mom are you sure this water is sanitary?"

Yuzuru's: *Tap wood* "Are you sure this podium is safe?"

Yup same level of adorableness XD

HI hamaguri! Where have you been? (as if I didn't know you've been working) Right?

Oh, thanks. I could rarely comment these days. I’m totally late for the party (lol). (Your avatar is nice!)

Oh thank you ! This joins up with what HanDomi said. Again, unbelievable how he can evaluate the situations in all possibilities during the program! When I'm in trouble just trying to stay focused to avoid falls and mistakes, he puts up tons of strategy for every move he makes.

Yeah, he can deal with the layout change. So cool. Further, he has 6 triples and 2 quads almost evenly. That he has many jump options make it easy.

Oh, actually, I am not well aware of the rule. Thanks! I must study more!:drama:

Oh my God, after the moving of 1lo-3s combo to 3lo , he actually thought about this too? WOW, talk about smart and tactical.

Edit: Oops, I didn't read the previous comment, so it's actually not the case. But I'm still amazed :D :D
And the previously shared video of Finlandia Trophy made me realize how bling bling he was compared to other competitors.

I’ve never watched the arrangement! Thanks. He was adorable. (And I realized how much his muscles have developed in the past two years!) :yay:

Is there any other fancam from this event? I've only seen the one of the FS practice and the instagram posts. Thanks!

I agree about step and posture, may be because he has more energy left in practice. Good start of the season nontheless, but if he could skate clean with the same posture during op the ..

about the embroidery on yuzuru's FS costume, it kinda reminds me of the embroidery I saw in museum around Han dynasty(not exact) in China. It was silver/gold or colored silk or something similar embroidery on semi translucent soft lightweight fabric. The only thing is the pattern of the embroidery. it was a little too much on Yuzuru's FS costume and not symmetrical like the ones I saw in museum or the one SEIMEI wear in that dance. In that dance, the decoration feels like the patterned change of fabric instead of embroidery added on later. I am ok with the color combination (gold, green etc, if it adds effect on ice), but the pattern design could be better.

This was a pretty small competition and lighting in bigger venues will probably be a lot better so the costume does not bother me, I think it's cool, I love traditional costumes that are a little bit modernized.

His step sequence only got level 2 but I'm sure when GPs come around he'll perform the footwork with more attack and he can get level 4, the judges obviously loved it as they all gave +3 GOE except for one (which is dropped anyway). Mistakes were made but he looked happy, I think he got his early season jitters out

IIRC, the colors for Yuzuru's blade guard are green and purple which are used in FS costume. maybe he likes these 2 colors

Hi there! Sounds like you had an awesome week. Thanks for sharing those clips! It's cute!

I took the chance to fly up from New York City, not knowing if I could get a ticket & how I'd keep my seat if I got one. Then, as soon as I got there, I met won0066 - we just happened to arrive at the same time & were maybe the only North Americans in line that early. We agreed to save each other's seat. Then, it turned out that I'd read her blog via goldenskate & she already followed me on Twitter. We managed to have the same great seats throughout the competition - by getting up & out before dawn (but we were too keyed up to sleep much anyway!). It was a magical experience. (& all sorts of things went magically, including me being able to see Niagara Falls from the window of my plane & my new iPhone 6S arriving the day before I left, so I had plenty of storage & could take those HD videos I'm glad you enjoy on my Instagram!)

(I forgot to start with a quote; I'll put another post after this with that.)

You can check this https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxtoTfyhxLRs1cXPgHlwekw/videos channel for practice and warm up videos as well as SP yesterday. But it's not fancam. It's from AC.

Is there any other fancam from this event? I've only seen the one of the FS practice and the instagram posts. Thanks!

Yeah << are still counted as the intended jump. If he got 4T<< it would still be counted as a 4T. But there is also the case that he under-rotates it so badly that it gets called a 3T ala Shoma in the SP at US Classic :slink:

Seeing how he only got around 2pts for his 4T< fall, it really makes you really think how risky a second half quad is :(
