Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

They finally published the protocols and I/Z missed two key points on the RW, so the score could have been around 72 :jaw:

Lots of 9s in the PCS and the GOEs on the partial step sequence were huge.

The scores seem to me pretty fair  comparing to the rest of the competition scores and the others top team scores so far this season (not taking in account those of judge 4 and judge 6). This product that we watch involve the efforts of different specialists that work on it till the very last week before the competition. IZ have very ambitious programs and they are actually aiming for titles so no surprise they don't spare neither money nor efforts on them but still keep their touch.

I like that they are different. I like that due to their simple costumes the accent falls on the dance itself. I like that they grow and are not afraid to experiment and to risk to be different without knowing whether they will be accepted well. I like Elena's fire when she skates I like Ruslan's strength when he is on the rink and most of all I like it when they themselves enjoy their performance.

Btw I watched several times this performance and the one from the test event and I am very pleased both from the execution and the several changes that actually make a difference.

Wish them good luck tomorrow. :)

Press conference after SD :)

Also I hope someone with very detailed technical knowledge could point me out the two keypoints they were missing... it took me months to figure out the Paso pattern so I'm not very hopeful for myself to be able to figure it out hahaha
Judge number 4 didn't seem to go along with the rest of the judges!

I'm trying to figure it out and the video isn't really good enough to tell 100%... Key point 1 on pattern 1 is the first two 3 turns & swing rolls by Ruslan, and the turns and edges look pretty clean to me, so maybe he's not getting "the correct swing movement of the leg" - it should swing through as close as possible to the skating leg & his are a little to the side, or maybe they haven't given the 2nd 3 turn because it's the tiniest bit shaky on the exit. Key point 1 of the 2nd sequence is a left outside 3 turn for Ruslan and a left forward inside for Lena - I can't see it clearly because their feet block each other, but I don't think Lena's 3 turn is very clean. But none of it is down to big mistakes, it's all easily fixable.

Thanks, I will have to get the sheet that has the steps mapped out in order to see exactly where in the pattern these steps are but this is already helpful :)

Finally got to see the video and what a performance!! LOVE it! I think my favorite move is when the WWRY song says "got blood on your face," and Rulsan sweeps in hand right to his face as he looks the judges down. The pictures of his suit seem to show he has a leather trim on the jacket and vest. I think he needs to glam and rock up that suit like making the pockets and lapel all leather. Possibly trying a textured leather like crocodile or adding adding black studs on the lapel or maybe some leather on the shoulders. His suits needs something that will make it pop on video and photographs more.

It's really good. Finally got up the nerve to watch it. It's a bit rough around the edges, especially the ending but it's got so much room to grow. They've improved on it so much from control rentals. Lazy? How could they ever say this girl is lazy. She may have been irritated with you know who, but lazy, nah I don't think so.

Anyhoo, the contrast between the two programs is really interesting to watch. These two are versatile.

I'm very happy with their skate! The fantastic speed throughout, the flow, their expressions - it's obvious that they were enjoying every second of it! It was such a pleasure to watch!

Loved their costumes as well. Her dress is so beautiful and so elegantly cut. And he looks quite dashing in a suit. And if people dance to this at weddings, IZ's costumes are certainly appropriate. At any rate, I thought they suited the movements and the music very well.

And congratulations to Elena and Ruslan for earning a new personal best at their first competition of the season!

In my previous post I wished them the best of luck with their skating and with the judging, and it looks like, for once, my wishes have come true (touch the wood!). So I wish them the same for tomorrow. :)

Just feeling a ton of gratitude towards them for such an exquisite performance!

I/Z have the highest SD score so far this season
That's great! Thank you so much for pointing this out!

They hands down have the best waltz pattern hands down!
Yes I LOVED their edges on the waltz pattern. So strong and definite, miles beyond other teams.
I don't feel like they were overscored  but yes I agree with you that this seems competitive with C/B, and that is amazing.
And thank you so much for pointing out to lay fans like me important things that would have escaped me otherwise.

Thank you very much for posting this link! Personally I'll be happy if they keep both SD costumes. She sounds very modest. The audience was indeed great, very supportive - I've also noticed that. And Elena got so caught up in the performance, she forgot for a moment that they were going to get scored on this? Why, having watched them skate I can quite believe that. :)

Lazy? How could they ever say this girl is lazy. She may have been irritated with you know who, but lazy, nah I don't think so.
Considering how great they look at their first competition of the season, they must both be workaholics, as well as their coaches . I can see why Elena was so anxious not to let them down.

I have seen nothing and read nothing. I have started a crazy period ad work and didn't have even 5 minutes to pause. I saw the scores but despite that, how were they?

p.s. Who's that idiot judge who gave them 7 for choreography? I want his name!:sarcasm:

If the page is correct, judge no. 4 is Ms. Tanay OZKAN TUR and judge no. 7 who gave 8s only was Mr. Albert ZAYDMAN ISR. The rest were from LAT, POL, BLR, RUS and AZE.

Oh so they do follow the numbers, we know who's judge it is? Interesting, what did ISR judge gave to T&T for the choreo and TR, 9s?:p

Just watched the SD. I love this program and they are in great shape. Ruslan in particular is just SUPERB in this program. I don't like the costumes though. I want more rock style and not total black.

Really, didn't CL get something like 76 or 78 at Lombardia Trophy?

Maybe but for whatever reason they aren't on the official ISU list: http://www.isuresults.com/isujsstat/sb2015-16/sbtsdsd.htm

Maybe that was not an official ISU comp?

Okay, yeah. It's not part of the challenger series I think.

Lombardia trophy is ISU competition and part of the Challenger series but C&L got 69.72 in the SD this time. It was last season they got over 70s. ;)
