Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

they have gelled faster than expected

they might be Rus 1 leading to 2018, with the national second and third spot ranked by younger teammates
like Yanovskaya / Mozgov and Konkina / Reviya

The number one complainer on the other forum is a big Tiffany Zahorski fan, and she liked Ruslena until it was announced that Tiffany wanted to switch to Russia, soooo I'll let you all draw your own conclusions...

I think there's room for Tiffany and Jonathan too... just not as Russia number one  I do in all seriousness believe that they will get many international assignments, including some major ones, in the years to come.

I`m glad Tiffany got her release and I also think she can be very successful with Jonathan, but #1 belongs to Ruslena or B/S.

Zahorski / Guerrero could be in Top 5 given Russian ID has no clear No.1 for now and is a mess
I prefer younger skaters like Konkina / Reviya and Yanovskaya / Mozgov seizing the opportunity in the future.

Honestly they could even be top 3, I think we need more information to be sure. They did look very good at Russian Nats last year, and presumably they have improved since. But definitely as said above for this year 1&2 are B/S and I/Z.

Bobrova / Soloviev are always injured and aren't getting younger
Stepanova / Bukin are not really reliable and has same bad luck, she btw has not so good postures

but there are younger skaters with better prospects like Yanovskaya / Mozgov and Loboda / Drozd
Konkina / Reviya being with the most potential star quality since I/ K

Betina and Yuri and SinKats are also worth mentioning. The depth of Russian ice dance is just....amazing!!!

not as deep as American ID even more French juniors prospects
Vlasenko has really bad skating skills and S / K are slow in improvements and with Katsalapov prone to injuries

Are you sure you're watching juniors?

I feel like I'm the only one not seeing what everyone else sees in Konkina/Reviya among the current juniors. I like other couples much more. Maybe they will convince me in the next few years though.

I preferred Skoptcova/Aleshin from the Russian Juniors, although their FD music is very weird. Konkina/Reviya are still so young, only 14 and 16. Who knows how they will develop.

I was going to say, I like Konkina and Reviya but I make myself withhold judgement on ANY pairs, and definitely not get too attached (especially in the pairs disciple but also in ice dance) until both kids are at least 16. You can really avoid a lot of heartbreak if you follow this rule. So many times it just doesn't work out once they both have their grown up bodies and personalities.

My foolish advise, stay away from those forums, its like poison.:disapp:
No need to exaggerate and insult everyone on FSUniverse with that. There are also many true Elena and Ruslan fans on that forum. I have been a member there for longer than I have been a member of this forum, and I also like I/Z a lot.

While I actually liked the SD at the Mordovian Ornament less than I liked the test skates performance of it (probably the costumes that are too formal for this dance, and a bit less energy - or so it seemed to me), I think they were great in the FD despite the twizzles mistake. I thought that they were a bit too slow in the test skates performance which was to be expected so early in the season, but I'd say they were quite okay now, although, of course, they can still improve a lot even during this season. The SD partial step sequence still looks a bit slow, but I am quite positive about their capability to improve that too. Overall, I haven't criticized Elena and Ruslan too much, I have even defended them on YouTube (futile as it is). Even many of their fans thought that their last season FD was really bad, but I didn't think it that horrible. And if you ever think that I am too critical of Elena and Ruslan to be a "true" fan, know that I tend to be critical of all my favorites, as I have high expectations of them (which probably is not right, I admit that) and pay a lot of attention to almost every detail of what they do (almost because I am not knowledgeable enough about technique to see every little mistake in footwork etc. yet). It's easier to accept and "forgive", and to just enjoy what good there is if something is not ideal in the skating/singing/etc. of those who are not/have not been among my favorites as the expectations are not that high. I agree that there are people who criticize too much to be perceived as fans, but I also believe that there are other people like me.

Sorry for the rant, I just felt a bit offended as a member of FSUniverse and as someone who is not always just ecstatic about everything that my favorites do.

I just watched the new TSL episode and it made me laugh (I always find them entertaining) because Jenny and Dave are obviously afraid of I/Z and are starting their own politicking game for Boston. So they must think (though they obviously wouldn't say that) that I/Z a force to be reckoned with and I like that.

Two things to remember when it comes to TSL: a) They are totally ignorant about Ice Dance. b) Dave is a Nikita loverboy and he's not over him yet.

The only couple they like to a certain level - and that might change any moment with Dave and Jenny - is P&C. So, don't take them seriously at all. They don't like C&B either tbh so it's not about Boston.

Don't take it too personally laura, I think we know which users they are talking about on FSU. They are actually very few, 2-3 maximum, and I don't know why are we making such a big deal out of it and bringing their comments.

Oh no, TSL like C/B now. They're huge bandwagoners in general.

It's interesting that people who seem to like the FD more seem to be ruslena(or at least Elena) fans already, whereas people who weren't fans to begin with seem to like the SD more.
