In this news clip, Shoma's height is 159cm. Oh my, I thought it was 158cm
So, I checked Wiki, and it says 159cm, but JSF bio still states 158cm.
Hmmmm....

I hope he will reach 160cm or more soon

There is only 1cm difference, I think that it depended on how to measured him

It may be good for him to reach at least as same height as Daisuke but we might should not expect it much.

Would anyone be able to translate this comic about Shoma and Satoko:

https://twitter.com/yoshimura001/status/651457563779661824/photo/1

Thanks if you can!

Right to Left:
Shoma and Satoko JO 2015 comp.
Just the two of them putting their arms around each other for photo
Smiling together on podium

Kind shoma tries to give Nanana, but 'little devil' Satoko refuses.
"I don't want this, I don't like Bananas"

Botom Right to left:
Satoko: Cuute
Satoko picks up a fallen ribbon and puts it on Shoma's head. Shoma does the same and they play.
Shoma: Cool, your hand can go in (to the banana puppet)
Fascinated by the Nanana

And in the kiss and cry they occasionally talk.

Ah, thank you! It was so cute that I wanted to know the words too. These two are so sweet! I love that we can see a little of Shoma coming out of his shell and relaxing a bit with his teammates.

Dropping by to say late congrats for Shoma! He pulled himself together well and bounced back and won a medal he deserved :agree:
I really like the program this season for him especially the free. Saw it first at Japan Open and I thought what he did was great. I especially like the final seq leading to the last spin I feel like it's a nice climax to the end.
Wishing him the good season this time in the seniors and for him to continue to improve.

p.s. he's a cutie patootie

When his height passed 150cm, his old auntie fans were so excited and even moved as we had seen him since he was so little.
"Oh, our baby Shoma is now over 150cm !" :hb:

Last year he said, "I'm 156cm tall when I'm in good shape in the morning." :laugh2:

And, now he is 158-159cm. 1cm is only 1cm, but it means he is still growing.
He said in an interview that he wanted to be around 165cm tall.

I'm going to raise a toast with other Shoma fans when his height has reached 160cm

Shoma's performance is already great enough even if he is smaller than other skaters, but I think it would give him more advantage if he is 162-165cm (Tatsuki is 162cm, and Daisuke is 165cm). Fingers crossed.

Shoma's back in Japan and the article says he was smiling as you can clearly see in the photo here :laugh2:
This boy needs a designated tickler whenever he gets his photo taken.

^160cm Shoma calls for a celebration! But I'd like to see him grow another 5cm too. I'd even be willing to give him my 5cm and I'd still be taller than him:biggrin:

Now, I'm imagining Mao behind him tickling him for the photo.

Men can grow up to 18-21, so you have hope where Shoma is concerned. ;) I'm just amazed how much presence he has on the ice even though he is small. I've read quite a few people who've seen him live say he doesn't seem as small on ice and it certainly isn't something I'm conscious of when I watch him on screen. Therefore, I think it would be good if he did grow a bit more, but it won't be the end if the world if it isn't that many cm.

Sounds like you are very tall! btw I see Shoma's smiling in the photo

That is true since I saw him at the JO. yes height is not the most important thing for a skater that we know :)

That sounds really funny.

Btw, It’s a shame that I had thought that Sota and Shoma were almost the same age by their appearance for a long time.

Aww, I miss photos / footage of Shoma with Sota. They are always good for a giggle. Sota looks like he brings out Shoma's playful side. I wonder if Sota will go Senior next season? Then, they will be reunited.

Somehow I managed to miscalculate a simple arithmetic. I'd still be taller than him now if I were 5cm smaller is what I probably wanted to say :o:

I'm hoping Shoma to make it to GPF only for the shallow reason of seeing him being reunited with Sota :p

Puberty is such a tough phase for ladies, I wonder if growing taller has the same effect on guys? Do they have to re-learn their jumps? Maybe not as much? Nam totally shot up during the past few years, and I seem to remember Nathan saying that his injuries from last season were the results of growing pains. If that is the case then I don't want them to grow taller at all. :p

Honestly, considering Shoma's current height and age, I think we won't have to worry about him getting too too much taller. Yes, some boys do go through all that puberty stuff rather late, but Shoma is naturally shorter and I doubt there's going to be a tremendous growth sprout for him in the next couple of years. He'll be a lucky one, I think, growing centimeters instead of inches

Getting used to a suddenly 2x bigger body must be such a struggle. Not only do you have to change the speed and strength you put into certain jumps, but there's also the technique all together. What worked for your pre-teen body won't always work for your teen body. I feel bad for Yulia every day because of this.

I don't think he needs to be seen smiling in every photo he take. Part of what makes him distinct is his ability to commit to certain expressions beyond 'blank' or 'standard smile'

Leave the tickler out IMO.

Oh, I think all of us are only teasing and don't really mean it. I know I don't. Let Shoma be Shoma is this thread's motto, IMO.
