Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

I'm honestly not that much disappointed by the change in the step sequence...

Was the former much more unique and adapt to the music? hell yes it was, but it's efficacy choreographically also depended much more on how much Yuzu was on... in fact I absolutely adored it in the practice where he skated with attack and energy, but in the actual competition, where he was more cautious, it seemed empty and, I dare say, juniorish.

Is the new step sequence much more like a COP-basic-step-by-step-guide-to-hit-all-the-level-innovation-be-damned type? Yes, but I also have the impression that it has quite a big margin to improve... there were lots of little choreographic touches that would have resounded really well with the music if he had moved with the right timing, but it seems to me that he still needs some more times before he can skate his new steps with such a level of precision...

So for now I'll give Yuzu the benefit of the doubt, because I have the sensation that if skated perfectly, even with the new steps, Seimei could be one of the greatest programme in the history of the sport...

I thought it was a bit empty before so I'm not against the change even if it could fit the music better.

They just changed it so it needs to be polished. --It will be better after a few outings. Right now it looks less in tune than the first one. But still, total commitment from Yuzu...wow.

I thought it was a bit "empty" at first too, but I felt it was deliberate. I actually like the new steps sequence, although I miss some of the old one.

ITA. The steps at AC did look a bit empty to me too, though I liked them a lot because they were "out of the box". These steps are more similar to what he used to do but hey, this is a sport, where they must do what's necessary to win. And sometimes this comes at the cost of innovation. But I'll give it time, Yuzuru slowly makes the programs his throughout the season, he adds his own thing, so I think it will look much better once he's used to it and has more of his personal touch.

Does anyone have a working link of his practice skate still? Thanks in advance.
Isn't this one still working? I can still see it but it seems like people in the US can't. Or this one? Another one? And this one? Hope any of these work

I'm glad that Yuzu takes out the backward cross rolls because the sudden slow and simple steps don't flow well with the other loops and twizzles, imo. I didn't say this during scaci because everyone seemed to really like this frosty part. The forward cross rolls though, I do prefer the ones he did during scaci's op because these were done in a much sexier way at that time:biggrin:Here, he simply glided forward with no seductive aura. What disappoints me now is the part just before the forward cross rolls. He changed some upper body movements, and I don't really like the current version:hopelessness:maybe at the competition, with better camera angle I'll like it more.

Nonetheless, what I enjoy most about seimei is these nuances between the jumps, such as that small jump just after the triple loop. They highlight the music in a way which I've never seen from other men. I'm happy that he keeps all these transitions. Jumps are getting better and better. I'm thrilled to see him land all his jumps clean. Im also relieved that there's still room for improvement. I would be scared if everything is perfect at this early stage of the season, because nobody can keep top form throughout the entire season lol:hopelessness:

This is what I felt about the backward cross rolls. I think it was a bit awkward, as if Yuzu didn't know what to do at that part so he just stepped back:hopelessness:the new version doesn't fit the music as good as the old version yet, but we'll see how it evolves.

Sony got to all of those for me :scowl:
Dang I hope this isn't going to be a problem for the rest of the season. Leave Seimei alone Sony!
Edit: If anyone else is having an issue getting blocked, here is a link of his practice that works for me

So they did change the stsq...sigh. it is what it is. I'll watch it when I get home and yay, he landed his all his jumps :cheer2: but then Sochi practice flashed (where he was landing quads everywhere and never fell but then....) And I'm all :slink:

Sochi wasn't as bad as all that, actually. Certainly not a bombing. It just seemed that way because everyone expects perfection at the Olympics. He landed a quad and both his 3As. only mistakes were 3F, 4S, and the invalidated combo.

I agree. This is afterall his first GP outings and it was completed within 2 weeks. He is a monster if he managed it to perform it to max this early after changes was made.

THIS!! I just hope he is better at handling this than in Sochi. It was afterall the Olympics. Its a different vibe than GPseries. But I am so glad to see him healthy and seems to be in top form. :cheer2:

I am hoping there will be a side-by-side comparison video of sort coming out soon by one of the many talented fans...since I am quite dumb and don't really know what ya'll talking about. :) Or it could be that I haven't had the original version etched into my brain?

Come back from the practice session just now. It was a blast. What is this guy? When he skates, the aura around him can not be explained. He is focused, cool, composed, and so charismatic. No matter how cute and humble he seems outside the rink. On the ice, he is the king and he truely believes that he is.

Please, also share your experience on the Skate Canada thread so everyone can enjoy them. http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?56885-On-Site-Reports-Share-experiences-SC-2015
When you have time! :cheer:
