Do I smell signs that 4T is starting to suffer from the same mental blocks as 4S in the past?

Don't think so. In the 6min prac before sp there was a great 4T. And he did a great 4T before the latest OP as well. I think he just need time to recovery from the depression. I mean the media is too focus on him left him with little space to rest. They fellowed him till he enter into this OP.

I'm calm, I'm calm, I'm calm, I'm not gonna be sick, I'm super calm
and I'm totally not hopped up on cold medicine, that would not go well with the drink that I'm gonna need later :hopelessness:

He is healthy, he is well trained. And yet he made those mistakes. He wasn't in the state of mind for it. He lost focus. Whether he can gain back his concentration just in a day... Is another story.
I only hope that he can podium.

Sorry Meoima but I believe It's just impossible to read him completely based on one performance, or a couple of practices, whatever. He's the kind of skater that always does the unexpected, for the best or for the worst. He pulled off some great comebacks before. Will it happen here? Heck I'm 0% sure, anything can happen as always, he can go from brilliant to 70% Zamboni-man but I'm not rulling it as impossible either. I'm also hoping for a medal, but even more than that a decent performance. It's not the even the end of the World(s) if he doesn't medal ;) just the end of his GPF lol

He might be at the best of his health with more than enough preparation in more than a year, that's why I am disappointed that he let those outside reactions affected his skate. This is a dangerous state of mind. Reading his interview, I don't feel that he has figured out what has gone wrong, of course it was after his SP and he was still in the state of shock. But can he overcome that shock for better LP? I don't know. I think he won't do as badly as in SP, but I don't think he can get into the absolute state of concentration to win.

Honestly, even when he wins he isn't in absolute state of concentration, see GPF 2014 and his poor lutzes. Yuzuru is so unpredictable, I swear. Someone would think that being a fan of a Olympic/Worlds/GPF medalist would be easy but nope. I couldn't care less about if he's going to win or not, I just hope that he will have a performance that will make him partially satisfied and enough for a hopeful GPF spot, that's all I can ask for by now.

Let's just form an emoji circle and hope he does well enough to earn a spot in the GPF :ghug:
(I just really wanted a reason to use that emoji)

Training only makes him physically ready. But he needs to compete under pressure to have his mind ready. Physical training doesn't train his mind. I think that's why his performance pattern doesn't seem to change every season. He doesn't use health reasons as excuses for his poor performances. I don't his performance is health related either.

I don't think his sp performance is that bad. But the low score (due to invalid jumps) makes it seem much worse than it is.

Eff, are we in for a bad LP? Maybe I should skip this live.

With Yuzus level of talent, I wanna see him slau every time. Not be hot and cold all the time.

Maybe he should call up Plushenko on how to deal with nerves.

He did look rather determined in practice today. There were some quad issues, but he did get some good ones in for sure. And they were beautiful! The axels were a gorgeous as ever and the program looks fantastic.

I wouldn't count him out. He likes to win. He'll be fighting today.

But if I'm going to watch him struggle live, I'd rather it be here than at Worlds in a few months.

A performance that makes him satisfied is a performance that helps him win, and that means good score with great TES. I am in doubt that his mentality is ready right now.

:peace: I hope I won't have to use :palmf::hpull: tonight for him lol.

Well that was a bit of a disastrous practice (compared to the practices we've seen). Although I hope this bodes well for the real thing, to me he looked a bit "out of it" - perhaps thinking too much. He also looked frustrated with himself. But maybe this is me reading too much into things/projecting my fears !! BEST OF LUCK TO HIM !!

I have the same impression of everything. I'm getting really nervous now. It was like he was giving off anxious vibes. I hope he finally settles his mind for the competition and regains his concentration.

Let's not over analyze things before Hanyu's even skated. We'd go crazy doing that :hpull:
If he does poorly, it is what it is. He'll just end up with more practice time and maybe time for some smaller competitions in December.
