On a less serious note,
I just realized something.. guys.. no one has commented on his costume yet.
Is it just me or does it look more.. sheer? the fabrics. Both on the white/blue and the golden parts. I think it looks better and more flow-y? (for the lack of better word) and it doesn't look stiff. I also love all those sparkles it's beautiful.

Also about his SP, it'd be interesting if they have another layout/strategy for alternative but right now.. idk if they would change it. Not impossible but I'm not sure how it'll go since those are the ones he's been practicing over and over again. Some of you guys mentioned doing a loop jump as part of the combination, but if he couldn't land that lutz well then it wouldn't help much.. unless, he pops his quad, then a loop jump might help a bit (there wouldn't be a chance of rep. compared to when having toe jumps). (I think.. sorry if I somehow got it wrong couldn't trust my brain as of now)
Anyway lutz-loop jump seems tricky and not used by many if not mistaken.

yes, the lutz-loop jump seems weird, maybe use 4S to replace 4T? or use some other jump to replace 3lz+3T combo. (I think there must be some alternative ones)

Yes, he said that “I want to my vest (vest ga hoshii)”. Btw cheer you up Pamina  ×
That did help a bit, thank you.

So I woke up with a massive headache, and thanks to the intermission music last night I now have a Miley Cyrus song playing in my head. This whole figure skating thing is not good for me :rolleye:

My first thought was that he tucked his shirt in properly and that's why the love handles didn't stick out so much anymore. But yes, didn't look quite as weird as last time. (although if the sacrifice was to get a less weird costume in exchange for a jump disaster, I think he should get a refund ASAP :hopelessness: how many more hours until it's time for my blood pressure meds?)

Yes, I won't complain the costume any more , just please give the score back to my precious yuzu ~

So I woke up this morning to see the results and just LOL WAT, I need a drink. Not even just Yuzuru, everything is just upside down. :laugh2: Can I just laugh at how Daisuke Murakami just spoiled the most bizarre event again. And I realized that PJ picked Yuzuru, so It was on the way guys .. It was on the way .. The curse maybe can be broken tomorrow by Abe no Seimei.
Also the tarot card readings were scarily accurate. Oh, the men ... You never fail to amuse me.

Anyway, honestly this isn't even the worst of the outcomes. I was more stunned because his math failed him because everything else of the performance was gorgeous, it's obvious that he's very fit but his head just isn't in the game yet. Let's be real, he just wanted to make the FP more interesting, just winning the SP by a landslide is no fun, right guys? The thing is that it ended up a little bit too interesting lol Yuzuru can for sure make up in the free and it helps that he will skate 1st after the warm up. I would be more scared if he was flawless honestly, with him great practices usually leads to kind of messy performances so I admit I was expecting some mental lapse. His practices just proves that it's all on his head, he needs to be on competitive mindset and stop the headcase on the short, I need a clean Chopin or else I might combust from extreme furstration to never see this gorgeous program clean but I have faith it will happen, I have :drama:

Also I love his reaction at the K&C , it speaks volume about his attitude, just classy. So many skaters would just be devastated, specially someone of his caliber. Of course it helps that the scores are very close and the medals are all for everyone to grab but still, I love his attitude, he's always composed. He looked very accepting, dissapointed but relaxed and a bit sarcastic even (?) His laugh at his headcase was everything. Actually, this reaction is even better isn't it? ;) Can we expect a show tomorrow or a NHK trophy repeat? Ooh the drama! I live for FS drama!

okay, now I have a thought, I think he need a strategy to avoid such things happen, it is in very high risk since now 4T+2T is at the 2nd half that he missed, and we have another 3T after 3Lz, the correct layout is , we should not use toe jump too much, the 4T must be replaced by 4S or something else, we have 1 A jump, 1 S jump, 1 LZ JUMP , 1 T Jump , then this situation can be got rid of. (Or he should change 3lz+3T to 3Lz+3lo?)

Please, team brian, rethink about the jump arrangement! It is a simple strategy change.

He doesn't have a 3Lz3T in his FS. SEIMEI is very safe in terms of zayaking, even with all those toe loops. If he pops one into a triple, he is still safe, There wouldn't be a 'too many repeated jumps' since, instead of repeating the 4T, he would be repeating the 3T in the 3A3T. Even if he pops one into a double, he is still safe of Zayaking. And even if he pops both 4T into triples, he would only need to change his 3A3T into a 3A2T (considering that if he pops the second quad there would be no combo)
If he pops both of them into doubles, that is more difficult, he would probably have to change his axel, and given he is not good at 2A, it would be a 1A. He could drop a 2Lo come where in there but it would most likely be on his 3Lo since his 3Lz is not that reliable. But I've never seen him do a Lo combo, I don't know how good he is at those.
This time, given the horrid landing of the 3Lz, it would have been impossible to add a 2Lo, he has leaning forward way too much and his free leg was all over the place. Reminded me of his landing at Nats last year. I don't think he could have done anything else but a 2T. I've come to think he is not that good at Lo combos, it's Yuzuru we're talking about, the guy who does everything to maximize his BV, a 3Lz3Lo is worth more than a 3Lz3T, I think he would put it in if he was any consistent in it,
But well, I'll be cheering for this guy today, he's got nothing to lose so that could put his nerves at bay today :cheer:

Yes, glad to see him still quite upbeat after the skate. I was watching the press-con where the top three all were really surprised to be still in the top three :p. The guys will be extra pumped too now since they probably think they have a chance now.

Since they did make small changes to the costume for SP (no balloons this time!) I am looking forward to a more fitted costume for SEIMEi as well; hopefully it'll be less hockey jersey-like.

Anyone knows his track record/preference when it comes to skating first in the group?

Tbh the top guys don't have as much scoring potential as Yuzuru does so even if Yuzuru is only semi-decent he could probably make up the gap (also because of his PCS...)

Well I only remember him skating early in the group at NHK 2014 and we all know how that turned out...

well, the layout here I mean the SP, just like today, the 4T => 2T, and then 3LZ-3T => 3LZ-2T, maybe replacing 4T with 4S will solve this issue. I kind of lost my mind today and can't express myself well.

Wish everything going well with SEIMEI SAMA.

Well he skated first at GPF last year and remained first, so let's hope it will be the same here!

I think what happened to him yesterday is what happened to Chan at the Olympics for the free: both knew the other had left the door wide open for them to win but that thought actually started up to mess up with their heads. Hopefully, his head will be back in the game today. He usually is more comfortable as the chaser anyway ;)

He skated early at the GPF SP and it turned out to be a really good performance despite the lutz fall. He was also in a situation of having to prove himself and was relatively well trained there. He's actually much more trained here and we know he wants that GPF spot. I'm not expecting a flawless SEIMEI but he can make it, barring a total disaster (NHK). He just needs to get his head straight because despite SC, his PCS won't save him that much if he keeps the TES trend later on in the season obviously. GOOOO YUZURU :cheer2:

Oh ok I get it, sorry. Yep that could work well, perhaps he'll replace his4T with a 4S somewhere in the future, though I think he (being as stubborn as he is) will rather go for two quads in the SP...

Shhhh, if we don't say it, it won't happen

But really I'm knocking on wood today.

Few links to newspaper articles (in Japanese):

This says he was chasing away flies  twice before his performance. I thought he was taking ice off the rink.

This one says he hears Patrick's score thinking, okay okay 80, I can pass that if I skate clean but maybe that affected his focus.

;__; I thought the same too like the top guy got an 80 like Yuzuru can have a really bad day (albeit not like two invalid jumping passes kind of bad) and still do way better than 80 gah I just hope he focuses tomorrow... like we've seen him in practice and he's clearly healthy and he clearly has all the technical goods to just go out there on the ice and blow everyone away. Let's just hope he brings his best tomorrow :cheer:

Also does anyone know what time the men's long program will start tomorrow? I'm trying to know what time I should be doing other things because I feel like I jinx my favourites every time I follow a competition live :slink:

oh no I bet that wasn't it. Almost half a day until you need to take your meds. Good luck, Pamina!

Like you guys said, at first it seems like it'd be so easy for Yuzu to top them all.. even if he messes up. It happened (he did mess up) but it's in another level which cost him a whole lot more in the scoring. Such an unfortunate thing. It probably caused the nerves to go up as well. I think he was laughing also because of that. He kinda felt silly. And I don't think that him doubling the toe (the combination) was on purpose. It just happened and he realized later only that it made his jumps invalid.

I actually have a good feeling about SEIMEI and I hope my feeling is right. JSYK I was so nervous about his SP yesterday and look what happened. Praying that he'll be given peace and calmness for his mind and he'll be able to focus to perform his best!

It was a long night of worry, but I believe in their resilience. Yuzu leaves us with heart in hand from time to time. Now our mission is to give you support and transmit positive energy and love for our precious Yuzuru. I would love that Brian had the opportunity to read the suggestions on changes heels in this Forun. I do not have ownership of the technique, but note that there are very wise people here. The solution often escapes our eyes and we need the help of others to see. Good luck to our dear Yuzuru.
