The French federation and the ISU are completely devastated and extremely disappointed. Even though we had nothing to do with the decision, we feel sorry for the skating family. We’ll all do our utmost to help you. We’ve made proposals to the ISU about how to handle the selection for the Grand Prix Final. I am absolutely sorry for the decision."

What a sad and tragic thing to happen not only to France but to anywhere in the world. I hope everyone can go home safely. This is just so sad. My heart goes out to the people affected by this tragedy. I'm glad they cancelled the event. Safety and peace of mind should come first.

The ISU wanted to go ahead with the competition, but the French government cancelled it. At one point there was a tweet from the ISU that they were proceeding, but then anew decision came down.

you know what, all these make me a little bit angry. I understand that Russia supports Assad, EU does not, on the other hand USA probably support Kurds but does not support Assad.
But why don't they all just for a minute get together and bomb ISIS out of existence. Once and for all. Later they can all get back to the "normal" bickering and bettering each other in the ME and elsewhere.

In the face of tragedy countries should unite abd help each other. Human values are on 1st place. Not sure about "bombing", because you never know who would be there, but to DO something together would be great

What the...? You can't bomb out a terrorist organization out of existence. What you bomb out is civillian people. That sort of thinking and measures is exactly what caused this mess. If America and Europe had kept their armies out of middle east for the last 25 years, the muslim radicalsm probably wouldn't have reached these levels and this whole s**t probably wouldn't have happened. We (the western civillization) waged war on their territories so they're bringing war to ours. In a twisted, horrible way, it almost looks like cosmic justice.

Agree 100%. im sad for the events but this is a reminder of what western countries have brought to islamic countries every day of their lives. Its becoming a hate circle and throwing more bombs to people won't help at all.

Allies bombed Nazi Germany, am I not correct? So why do you claim that one can not bomb territory on which ISIS hold power? Because what? Because ISIS is not there? It does have police, people over there pay taxes to ISIS, they got gas, they got electricity and you claim that one can not bomb ISIS?
As for Muslim radicalism, there would be no Muslim terrorists if Europe and USA ended what they started. They did not keep their troops in Iraq, they did not give enough money to troops in Afghanistan and it is because of this that we all ended with this mess.. People were telling "get poor innocent people out of Guantanamo" now these "innocent" people fight for ISIS. I wonder why?
We, the western civilization had to wage war to not have our territories conquer once again by Ottoman empire and other people from the Middle East. Somehow you forgot that our territories were under Ottoman occupation for quite a long long time. 400 years? 300 hundred years? Hungary does not count? Greece does not count? Bulgaria does not count? Serbia does not count?
Perhaps YOUR western civilization waged war, MY western civilization was occupied when Your part was free.
Perhaps that's the difference.
