Yulia Lipnitskaya

If ISU will agree to increase number of finalists for GPF from TEB skaters, than Yulia will have a REALLY good chance to qualify. The only condition will be Roberta RODEGHIERO placing not higher than 4th place at CoR, which is pretty much guaranteed considering how tough the field there will be. What do you guys think?

I still think Yulia's odds of making it are small. :(

The ISU would need to do something extreme, like expand the GPF ladies finalists to 10 spots.

Seems the most points Yulia will have is 18 points.

There are already 9 skaters (including Gracie & Liza) who are within 7 points or less of that, with another event to go. A podium placement for Pogorilaya at NHK would get her up there, too.

I can't see how 18 points would likely be enough. What scenario are you using from TEB?

According to Gorshkov and Kogan, the proposal proposes that 2 additional skaters should be chosen from TEB participants only. So it's between Kanako, Yulia, Liza and Roberta, since Grcie will qualify anyway. Kanako, Liza and Yulia will have 18 points, but Liza and Yulia will win first tie-breaker. So it will be up to Roberta, if she will place higher than 4th place than the 8th spot will be her. :) Am I counting something wrong?

Wouldn't Gracie get the first TEB spot?

Yeah, I edited my post. I think if SP results will be announced as official results, than Gracie will qualify in top 6. Oh, this is complicated. Maybe I understand the mechnics of their proposal the wrong way.

Not exactly accurate. What Rus Fed proposed is that if after NHK, TEB skaters finish within the top 8 in their respective disciplines, that they be allowed to participate in GPF. So GPF events may have 6, 7 or 8 skaters, depending on what happens after NHK.

My understanding is the same as yours but of course nothing is official yet... who knows what will ultimately be done.

Oh, I see. Thanks. This system is even worse, IMO. But I see where they come from. No chance for Yulia then :(

We're both wrong then

Julia would have to finish in top 8 with 18 points, after two more events.
I checked all GP standings since 2008 and the least total points of 8th place finisher was 20.

I think it may be mathematically possible, but weirdest things would have to happen in last two GPs for that.

Yulia wouldn't have made it anyway, would she?

She would have needed several other skaters to make serious mistakes in the final GPs while winning TEB. Getting in with 20 points would have been unlikely but feasible assuming those conditions because 1st place in one event is the first tie-bteaker, right? It beats out 2 and 5 or 3 and 4. With 18 points it's pretty much impossible. It's really too bad her components were really low at SA because she missed out on 5th place by less than .5 points if I recall correctly.

Lovely!!

Oh and I wanted to say this but kinda forgot before. I just realized how I haven't really seen Julia's skates/boot before haha. I mean she seems to always have that stocking/tights thingy over it and that last week when I saw her new costume I was like 'hm something's different what's it' to realize later that her skates is 100% visible then.

I do wonder if something specific happened to make her determined to do this mid-season instead of waiting till the end of this season. But the important thing is that she is happy

Yup, I'm glad Yulia is taking the wheel. Whichever direction she heads in, it will be her choice. Proud of her!

I think she knows that her chances of making the euros/worlds team are not great, not impossible either but, changing right now is better than waiting another six months to do it. Especially if this is what she really wants.

Wishing her the best!:hap10:

Tbh I'm not surprised she's turned to Urmanov. Vaitsekhovskaya mentioned about 2 weeks ago that a talented skater approached a famous coach but was turned down.
