I hope so too. It must be so traumatic for them. :sad21:

I can only imagine how it feels to realize that they are actually so close to were everything happened. There are so many very young skaters without their parents, it's horrible.

Yes, I am worried. I pray not only for their safety but for their emotional well-being.

"Russian figure skaters - the participants of the Grand Prix in Bordeaux fly home tomorrow

Russian figure skaters - the participants of the Grand Prix in Bordeaux on Sunday back home different flights.
In Moscow, the skaters and coaches will depart from Barcelona, St. Petersburg athletes - from Amsterdam.
To Barcelona and Amsterdam Russians will travel overland by bus."

http://fsrussia.ru/news/1428-rossij...-gran-pri-v-bordo-zavtra-vyletayut-domoj.html

This is making me even more worried. It's at least 10 hours by car/bus to Amsterdam. And if that's the case then they are probably leaving today because they will need at least 12 hours (probably much longer) to get to the airport in Amsterdam and the flight is tomorrow.

Edit:
The only direct flight from Amsterdam to SPB is at 12.45pm Amsterdam time. So they are probably leaving Bordeaux really soon.

Edit 2:
Apparently the initial report on fsrussia was wrong or plans were changed. According to sovsport.ru, they flew to Amsterdam instead. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore.

Skate Canada FS TSN commentary:

And for your reference, this was his original choreography before it received the dreaded "Prokofieva treatment":

Edit:
Alright, I've just finished watching the TSN FS. Yes, very positive comments by Tracy Wilson. I appreciate how complimentary she was of his musicality/expressiveness, his lines and his edge work because that's something that's never mentioned in the Russian media. She said other interesting things too but you can watch it for yourself. :)

And thanks Sandpiper!

I have been reading twitter comments about Sasha from Japanese skating fans and one person suggested that Sasha's SP costume is based on this famous painting:

Gustav Klimt's "El Beso" (The Kiss)

As you know the music he skates to in his SP is "La Leyenda Del Beso" (The Legend of The Kiss).

I think this person is right! Suddenly the choice of the colour/patterns and everything completely makes sense now. :)

Okay, that makes sense. I still don't like the shirt but I accept that explanation :)

ISU has updated the World Standings to reflect the TEB SP results as the final results. So officially Sasha finished 6th at TEB, which accounts for 236 pts.

He didn't get any ranking points from Nice so the two slots for "selected international competitions" remain blank. I hope he can do at least one more senior B this season and score some points from it to keep his ranking high enough for a GP assignment next season. *fingers crossed* There aren't many left on the calendar.
