Yulia Lipnitskaya

Correct me if I'm remembering this wrong. But didn't Yulia say she wanted to quit skating PERIOD after Russian Nationals and early-2015.
There were interviews in which she mentioned thoughts of quitting skating well before 2015, mostly reactions to lack of access to coach and time on ice.

It appears that Yulya unfriended Eteri and Diana in VK. That's weird

Here was the first report in this thread about Yulia unfriending both Eteri and Diana. January 8th 2015 :drama:

No, the music was different. It was from the movie Perfect Sense. The choreography and the concept of the program is a bit similar to the story of the movie Perfect Sense. Zhenya's music here is from the movie W.E, which has nothing to do with the story of Zhenya's free program. I don't know which pieces Ilia chose at the time for Yulia's program but this is the soundtrack.

Oh my. Now I understand. The music is definitely different, and worse. Much worse. Bare minimalist Philip Glass (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Stu7h7Qup8&list=RD6Stu7h7Qup8#t=151) interrupted by tone-clusters Ligeti (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI0P1NnUFxc), nothing for Yulia. You remember Yulia, the one who chose Leningrad for its melody!

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWW........... :luv17:
They both look cute together. If she's happy then I am too.

Also, glad to see her cheering for Elena!

I think Leningrad is perfect for Julia.. I wanna see it performed more often because I feel like we haven't seen it performed in its whole potential yet (especially since it's pretty much only once we've seen it, excluding the test skate). Let's hope she can achieve that, or even close to it, before this season ends (btw I'm not asking for flaw-free, super clean skate, it'll come with time).

I think we should try to avoid going too much down the road of speculating about why Julia split from Etri, if their relationship was bad, what 'went wrong', if Etri was a bad coach in some way, and so on. The main reason I think this is because I genuinely don't think Julia would want us to. She gave a positive statement thanking Etri, acknowledging the success they had in the past, and wishing her well in the future. Even if (and contrary to how some people are trying to make it sound, it definitely is still an if) something negative went on, it's clear Julia decided she didn't want to get into it, and I doubt she'd want her friends sitting here trying to get into it themselves.

What we do know is Julia seems happy about the move, and did want more personal attention from a coach and more ice time. These were things Etri genuinely was unable to give her because of the size of her school. For that reason it had ceased to be a good match. Due to Urmanov's relative lack of students at the moment, she is going to get that from him. I think it's time for us to gently move on from this topic from now until new news emerges about how things are going once she starts training with him (tomorrow!).

I've seen her yeaterday at CoR, she was with Pitkeev and two guys I didn't recognize (probably their friends, all looked young). There were LOTS of people around them, I didn't even try to come and ask her something. But she seemed very happy, I think maybe that change is for better after all. :)

One of the guys is her boyfriend Vladislav

I notice 3 levels in the way choreography relates to music....
sjid, thank you for a good analysis. I too think Yulia skates at a different level from many other skaters. She is at her best when she truly believes the music and story she is skating to.

:agree: They created magic together when their paths crossed.

What we do know is Julia seems happy about the move, ....
By the renewed start, I think she will feel refreshed psychologically and come out a better skater.

You have expressed my fascination with her very well. I learn from her, through her passionate sincerity she reveals as do few others. This quote says a lot about Yulia: "Music expresses that which cannot be said, and on which it is impossible to remain silent." .... Victor Hugo

So much for the introvert, another theory bites the dust.

Goodluck Yulls!!! Lil' Yulia is all grownup and becoming an independent, confident young woman. :sad46::clap:

New interview with Adian: http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/860599
He answers a few questions regarding Yulia. <my interpretation of the Google translation> In short, he is sad that Yulia is leaving because they have known each other for a long time and they are good friends. They will maintain contact, they (the group?) are all the same, and literally grew up with her. It is a pity that she had to leave, but if she felt that she had to - then it was necessary.
