I think it will be tough to qualify both Russian teams for the GPF, since H/D have a Gold from TEB and the Shibs a Silver from SC, so if it ends with 1. Shibs 2. B/S (SD score at least 62,02) and 3. H/D, S/K would be out. If B/S are only third then S/K are in. But it does look good for B/S :)
 
Yes I think they can definitely do it- a score above 62 + a second place finish is definitely realistic for these two.

If the final standings at NHK are Shibs 1, B/S 2 and H/D 3 (and B/S get the score needed), then all of them will make it to the GPF, and S/K will not. They will end up in 7th, but only if 7th place was at TEB they will be added. S/K will then only be 1st alternate.

Oh right, forgot about HD. Yes, you are right. Well, either way, even if only BS qualifies, I think BS will do well at GPF. Last year Russia (IZ) was last, not a surprise it was IZ's first season and Russia had to push someone through to the GPF, so this year Russia can't do worse, either same or better.
 
Theoretically, there still is a possibility to both Bobrova/Soloviev and Sinitsina/Katsalapov to qualify. If Shibutanis and Bobrova/Soloviev will win gold and silver (in any order) AND Hubbel/Donohue will lose to Coomes/Buckland and Stepanova/Bukin. I would say this scenario is unlikely, but not totally impossible. Their PBs are roughly the same, and Hubbel/Donohue's free dance has no good score internationally this season, so...
 
It is completely possible. All that has to happen is H&D to get the music deductions in the SD that they deserve IMO, but have not yet been given. The effect can be as much as 7 points and puts them in the first warm up group for the FD.

It also makes a problem in the second GPF tie breaker.

When I wrote that it will be difficult to do I meant only Sinitsina/Katsalapov. But I too didn't know that the second tie-breaker is the SP/SD now. Thank you for clarifying. It was the "absolute" total score from both SP and FS until recently - that is, until this season. Or were the rules changed just now because of TEB? Hadn't heard/read about that.

Thank you too for confirming, adelia. I didn't know that before. But that is strange indeed. Wouldn't it make more sense to take the total score for both programs, or the total score of FS/FD from both events as the second tie breaker, and the total score of SP/SD as the third/fourth tie breaker? I know that the total score of both programs was the second tie breaker until this season, then it was the highest score at one event (or do I remember it incorrectly?). Was the change in the rules made before this season, or just now because of what happened at TEB?

I didn't realize that either, but it was the total score for both programs until this season.

It was because of TEB, which came in handy for them. I don't think it would be impossible if it was the total score, but harder for them to make it. Now I think it's in their hands.

Okay, thank you for explaining. I wonder if the rule will be kept for next seasons too. It won't help if some event is cancelled already before the SP (I truly hope that something like this will never happen again, though).
 
The communication does specifically state 2015/2016 GP season so I assume the regular rules will be in place next year, unless another GP gets cancelled halfway.
 
Okay, someone told me they're going to skate last in first warm-up group at NHK. Can anyone confirm? I actually think it's a good start number. They skated second st Skate Canada, and it was too early for my taste.

I checked the World Standings and yes they will be last in the first warm-up group with the Japanese teams and C/M from the US.
