Who's Going to Worlds?

The USS Constitution is in dry dock and won't be available for viewing until later in 2016.

Thanks for the heads up, Tammi! I was going to check the website but you saved me the trouble....well, there is other history around Boston!

haha that sounds kind of fun. i wish i could afford to do that. it sucks cuz most of the skating events are always in the midwest, east coast, or canada. no love for the west coast when it comes to big skating events. :( i know team challenge cup is gonna be up in washington but it's still too far for me (california).

I Loved Worlds LA...had a good time....and Portland puts on a good event....Ontario CA was good too. CA puts on a good nats too....AND its warm.....

By the way, if others are skipping on Ladies SP and Pairs SP on Thursday and Friday and want to meet up... let me know. :)

I hope there will be other opportunities during Worlds to meet the famous Mrs P, because I'm not flying halfway around the world to skip events!

Have you been to the Boston Anthenaeum? Surprisingly, not a lot of Bostonians realize that this place exists.

It's about a 20-25 minute walk from TD Garden or you can hop on the green line and get off at Park Street Station.

FWIW, Skate America had a three year streak on the west coast a few years back (2010- Portland 2011- Ontario Calif and 2012 Seattle (Kent). It's been on a Midwest streak since then.

Hopefully that means an East Coast streak soon. *cough*

You cant miss her! She will have a huge entourage and be followed by the press everywhere!

I hope we can all have a GS group dinner one night - thinking maybe Saturday night (5pm 'ish) before the Ladies FS. There is a 3 hour window between Pairs FS and Ladies, and we'll be able to discuss all we've seen thus far. Then Mrs P. and the others who don't want to watch the Ladies can stay and drink while the rest of us return to the competition.

Please suggest places close to the TD Garden and we can make it happen! I know it's still months away, but the weeks will fly by and it would be great to have a plan in place.

This would be awesome!

I won't be in Boston then. My current plan is to fly out Saturday morning (though plans could change, I haven't booked any plane tickets or anything). :( That would be a great day for a GS dinner though.

I'd also be up for doing breakfast on Thursday or Friday before the first session or nightcaps after the evening sessions.

We could maybe plan more than one dinner though, since there will be many of us there. We could do a shorter one Friday night before the men's FS although there is only 2 hours between competitions that day.

No nightcaps for me as I'll be going to sleep after sitting all day, lol.

Sure, multiple meetups are good. :)

I'm all about organizing a GS lunch or brunch before either the Pairs SP, which doesn't start until 1:15 p.m. on Friday.

ETA: This place looks pretty good (all day breakfast, woot!) -- about 20 min subway ride.

ETA 2: Also this place: https://www.facebook.com/North-Street-Grille-125229187534465/ This place is even closer--only 10 minute WALK from TD Garden.

Apparently the Lobster Benedict is delicious and was on this list of 50 things to eat in Boston before you die: http://spoonuniversity.com/eat-out/50-things-eat-boston-die/

I've had three things on that list: The burger from Tasty Burger, the cannoli from Mike's and the hot chocolate from LA Burdick.

I'd love to join up at a meet. I live in Greater Boston, went to college there and have worked for many years in the area. I look forward to being a "tourist" during Worlds.

Hi Maggierose! Welcome to Golden Skate, post often and post long (especially with your restaurant and sightseeing suggestions!!)

The TD Garden is right near the North End, with some of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Some places are small, so reservations at those would be suggested.

Which ones would you recommend? There are so many! I hear that there are some you avoid cause they just basically serve Sysco stuff while others are more bona fide.

Thank you! :-D I'll get some info together and start to scout out places. It's not too early to do so, especially with a big event like this.

Depends on what you want to spend. Mamma Maria's is excellent and on the high end. Strega also. Daily Catch, Neptune Oyster, La Famiglia Giorgio are all very good.

Thanks Maggierose! I would like to try that cluster of Italian eateries for sure....for something alittle closer to the arena (I walk fast but sometimes there isnt much time) what do you think about the Boston Beer Works, McGann's Irish pub, and West End Johnnies?... (Mrs P, where did we eat the last time we were in Boston for our group?)
Don't drive like my Brother....
