Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev

Hmm, guys, I just had a thought... Is it possible for them to improve their rating in GPF to actually skate in last warm-up group at Euros? I take it they need to be ahead of Ilinykh/Zhiganshin to do so, since they're 5th european team in World Rankings. They're behind of them for about 200 points or something. So, I'm very bad at these things, rating points and all. What place should they take to be higher than Ruslena? Will 5th place at GPF be enough for them?

If they only need 200 points I think even 5th will do it but 6th won't? It will be replacing their 3rd place which was worth 324 points. 6th won't quite do it but 5th or above would.

1st place 800 points
2nd place 720
3rd place 648
4th place 583
5th place 525
6th place 472

They need 258 points, 5th isn't enough. 4th gets them there by 1 point.

Thanks. I thought so too. Well, considering the pressure for top teams there I would not put this scenarion in 'impossible to happen' list. I think they don't have enough of reputation yet to beat top 4 teams if they're clean. So, all they need to do is to skate clean themself, and anything can happen.
And if Papadakis/Cizeron will not compete, even 5th place would be enough for them, right?

Congratulations Katya and Dima! Such improvement in the FD since the last outing! It was just beautiful and so touching.

Yes, it would take them above Nazarova/Nikitin. But it sounds like P/C are planning to be back for French Nationals, so I'm pretty sure they will be ready for Euros a month later.

Okay. Thank :)
I'm very glad to hear that, even if it would mean that Bobrova/Soloviev will be skating in second to last group at Euro!

Finally come here & congrats team Beaver (haha not only team Beaver but to team Nightingale as well:biggrin:)
congrats to B/S ! Much much better than at SC!:hap10:
& I did love the BESP praise as well!
Now we'll look at Nats
Though Im quite sure they'll be #1 without force majeure. Maturity is visible in comparison to other teams. Imo the Fed needs them.

The Fed needs teams who can bring back three spots for next Worlds. They will probably appreciate consistency :) I just hope Bobrova/Soloviev will continue to be consistent, they definitely have an experience.

I was watching all the teams competing at GPF next week and I was making my notes about what can happen in the competition. I didn't realize before, but Bobrova/Soloviev are probably the only team with a very close dance in the FD, skating in hold for most of the program. All the other five have quite open programs, especially S/S and C/B, and I was wondering how this will fare in the final.

I don't really think it can be a problem for them, in fact, I'm quite interested to see how the judges are going to score them from now on, especially in the PCS. B/S are in the top five in the TES in both segments in the GPs, but they are nowhere near the top in the PCS, mostly because they have been away from the competition and they're not being pushed forward. And I want to see how much traditional the judges want to get this season, after all they have been dinging the most progressive teams, at least on the SD.

I don't know anything about dance and only watch the top performances at competitions, if even that, but I can't stop watching and re-watching B/S FD from NHK. The music is going round and round in my head and when I re-watch it, always feel like their FD is way shorter than those of the the others. Such a pleasure!

ok,the problem is not "progressive" or not.

The problem is "conforms to code of points rules or not"

Really happy that they performed well their SD again. Video HERE.

They hit both RWs, level4 on the lift and twizzles and level3 on the partial steps. I just think they should work on their lift a little more, because it's quite harder than, let's say, H/D and they got half the GOE - although, different lifts and everything.

Hoping for a good FD tomorrow!!:luv17:

*not gonna hammer much about the scores, but there's a gap in there that's a bit too big for what happened in the competition, but, well. Happy for them anyway.

I really enjoyed watching them, I don't think there is any point in being upset about the scores. They are still at a 'comeback' disadvantage, if they just keep it up the scores will go up too.

You're right I guess, but I would have had them ahead of H/D. Of course I'm not a judge though.

Still early days. The gap is small too, only 0.8 something, tomorrow they will rock the fd and be at 5th or 4th place even (with Shibsibs getting the bronze, of corse - sorry for putting Shibsibs here, but I was so disappointed with how they were scored yesterday).
