2015-16 Grand Prix Final Pairs Free Skate

Peng & Zhang : I didn't really watch them (cuz I was watching a fluff piece on Gabriella and Guillaume on French tv), but what I saw looked very messy.

Scimeca & Knierim : Scary mistake on the 4 twist. Then, can't he ever nail the sbs jumps?!! Good job on the throws though. I really like the music but the program (even mistakes aside) does nothing to me.

Yu & Jin : Please, just stop going for the throw quad salchow.

I'm so scared for those girls who can hurt themselves so badly on the throw quads. For that reason, I'm not sure I will be able to watch Kavaguti & Smirnov live. I'll only watch if I read she's ok.

They're playing Let It Go in the background it contrasts from the current mood so much...

Let it go! Let it go! Land your stuff and break the curse!

I don't caaaare what the forums saaaaaay...

Gonna skate real clean...the curse never bothered me anyway!

:laugh2:

I don't get this 'Yuko is delicate' stuff that people like to say. Yuko has been doing quad throws for years and is tough as nails. To the best of my knowledge she's never bee seriously injured. She is one of the strongest women out there. She might look tiny, but she's made of steel.

I agree. Yuko delicate? :laugh2:

The three top pairs has three different and brillant programs...

I am very excited. Hope the they skate better than the rediculious first Group.

I was going to ignore GPF today but this is just to intense

:popcorn: :laugh15::dbana:

Go Yuko and Sasha!! they are wonderful! Go charm everyone with Manfred magic!

Xiaoyu has a scratch on her elbow, luckliy it was just a scratch

that's the point

they didn't invest in them at all! :sad21::scowl: If they had decided to solely focus on their ID team, they should've at least given Y/J at the least a new program to show greater development

But you said they invested in the wrong teams? P/Z didn't do well, but neither did Y/J so... I'm not sure who you're talking about. W/W haven't had a good gp outing either and S/H are just recovering from an injury?

I'm not a girl either, but I think puberty must have played a part. I remember when Cheng was with her previous partner a couple of years ago; she was rock solid and reliable on her SBS jumps (which were 3T and 2A). Having those jumps at such a young age is seen as incredible in China, and now she lost her 2A...

Puberty can affect girls into their late teens, especially if it's been delayed because her athletic life has kept her % of body fat too low to get the hormones flowing, which is common in top female athletes.

Thank you both for your answers. Very interesting and insightful.

So, late puberty is possible, especially for a girl who is an elite level athlete like Cheng is.

Somehow, I think it is safe to say that there is a VERY low percentage of body fat on Cheng!

And thank you Tastetherainbow for bringing up what she was like with her previous partner. I don't think I ever saw her until she teamed up with Zhang Hao, so that insight into her past form is very interesting.

Thank you again

The Chinese Fed invested in the wrong choreographer, and saved money for not giving Yu/Jin new programs this season. I am pretty positive Siu/Han will place higher than the two Chinese teams today with Sui's injury.

I will probs do thre same!:hopelessness:

She has had major issues with her shoulder -- if you watch her 2010 Europeans FS, her shoulder gets DISLOCATED mid program and she pops it back in and continues! So one one hand she has been seriously injured, but judging from how she literally tugged her shoulder back into the socket mid-program... her mind is made of steel. ;)
