Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

If any of you want to check out some new music, Hanyu-san in the article about his arrival back to Japan, said that he listened ONE OK ROCK before competition. :)

I was wondering just the other day if he listens to them -- specifically, I was thinking that they would be a good example/motivation for English. The lead singer uses English quite often in his lyrics and is a great example of someone who can switch between English and Japanese pronunciation. Plus this rock style fits with the other bands Yuzu listens to.

Edit: adding to the recommendation above...

OT. Wow! This just made me more excited!! yesterday, I just bought an OOR ticket for their concert in our country :) and my friends agreed that we'll go ice skating the whole day before we go to the concert venue haha i suddenly dont feel so alone as no one close to me can relate to my love for FS ^^)

Keeping up the OT: I will be seeing them live this week and I'm already totally psyched. I saw them last year shortly before the GPF and this year shortly after:yahoo:

It seems Yuzuru will appear at "NHK Trophy Figure Skating Special Exhibition", Morioka Ice Arena, Saturday Jan 9th 2016... to mark 5 years (in March 2016) since the devastating earthquake that badly affected Yuzuru's home region among others, and publicise continuing need for support and reconstruction in those areas.

So I guess he won't be returning to Canada for a while? I would expect he'll stay in Japan after Nationals, long enough to attend this show at least?

Veeeery nice list of other participants for that show, by the way:
Mao Asada,
Shizuka Arakawa,
Yukina Ota,
Nobunari Oda,
Hiroaki Sato,
Akiko Suzuki,
Yuka Nagai,
Yuzuru Hanyu,
Rika Hongo,
Takeshi Honda,
Satoko Miyahara,
Takahito Mura

Evgeni Plushenko,
Philippe Candeloro,
Meryl Davis and Charlie White,
Yuko Kawaguti & Alexander Smirnov
Novice Junior skaters,
children other Miyagi and Iwate Prefecture Skating Union recommendation

(appearance skater might be subject to change)

Kinda OT but I was watching Free! yesterday (the anime about swimming) and I don't understand why there hasn't been a figure skating anime yet. Given the sport and Yuzuru's popularity right now (and after all he is already kinda a real life anime character so they can just like copy his life) it would be a great success i think :) I would watch for sure at least :o:

really don't think he will go to 4cc. japan could only have 2 men go to the world, I believe there are many other people need to go to competition too.

If he feels skipping 4CC will make him better prepared for the World, avoid another long flight or two, then sure, he can skip it. It's his and his team's choice.
But if he wants an additional competition in Feb to get ready for the World, I don't think it's fair to say many other people need to go to competition too, so why don't Yuzu just be happy with the fact that he can go the World in Boston and give this opportunity to someone else. It doesn't make any sense.
Russia has more talented ladies than Japanese men, I don't ever see them not sending their national champion to the European.

I don't get the logic to not send the national champion to 4CC just to allow other skaters to get more experience even though the other skaters didn't earn the spots. It sends a wrong message to all skaters and provides a really bad incentive. 4CC is a good competition to help him prepare for worlds. Since worlds will be in Boston next year, he will actually have less travel and jet lag when he returns from 4CC and travels from Toronto to Boston for WC, than compared to last season, when the WC was held in Asia. In fact, he is more likely to go to 4CC when WC is held in North America.

There has been a FS anime, albeit ladies discipline, called Ginban Kaleidoscope. Here's the first episode:

Agreed. Yuzu had legit reasons to miss out the last two 4cc, 14 being too close to the Olympics and 15 under going surgery.
So far, he had not missed a 4cc because he wants to minimize travel.

I have seen a clip from an anime, very well made. But the theme is not figure skating. I believe it was just one episode that a spirt of a figure skater came back to life and did her final performance or something like that. It was a very Mao-insipred performance. I just can't remember what's the name of that anime to watch the video again, any idea?

I know TSL is not everyone's cup of tea here, but for those of you interested to hear what they have to say about Hanyu-san at GPF it starts around the 24:45 mark

So I started the video at 24:45 as you suggest, and then heard Jenny said Yuzu turned her on. :scard7:

Yeah...I know, our boy has all grown up. :hap57:
