Yuzu will get the invitation on Jan 1st, he will have until Feb 10th to decide if he wants to participate in TCC. He is not forced to participate.
What he can get from this competition? The ISU and US figure skating association will certainly appreciate if he choose to participate, and the Worlds is in US this year.
The prize money is around 30K for Yuzu if top skaters from Asia all choose to participate. Even if Asia finishes last, he can get 17K. Not sure how much that's compare to EX show, but it's a decent amount and probably the best the US skating association can provide.
He will have one more opportunity to interact with the North American fans, and a lot more time to spend with other skaters and ISU officials.

From the invitation list, Brian has at least 5 students invited based on World Standings (Yuzu, Javier, Nam,Elizabet, Gabby). It's certainly a statement to Team Brain's coaching success.

I understand many fans just want Yuzu to stay healthy and be focused. He has a very busy schedule already. But we should really cut out the "Yuzu's too good for this competition, it's a waste of his time, I hope he will turn it down" business. It gives people the wrong impression that Yuzu's arrogant and snobby, and we all know that's certainly not the case.

Yes, no one is "too good" for any kind of competition. As Yuzuru says, you compete because its your job as a competitive athlete. A competition is a competition regardless of who is in it and what the prize is. But if a skater has a valid reason to skip then of course they should be able. :)

And if he accepts, I'll probably buy the tickets to go since its on a weekend....and its only 1-2 days hotel stay lol

Hi anirien! Welcome to the forum!!

The mediafire links should still work, I think the reason you might be redirected to the main page is because you have to register an account in order to access the files in the folder? Since all the files are now uploaded I'm reposting below the individual video links of each file, please see if this might work better for you. :)

Olympic SP: CBC (720p), BBC (720p), NBC (720p60 ts file - Johnny & Tara), NBC (1080p ts file - Scott & Sandra)
Olympic Team SP: CBC (720p60 ts), NBC (720p60 ts)

all files from 2015 are 1080p ts format:
2015 NHK SP: NBC, Eurosport Russian & British Commentary
2015 NHK FS: CBC, NBC, Eurosport Russian & British Commentary

2015 GPF SP: NBC, Eurosport Russian & British Commentary
2015 GPF FS: CBC, CBC No Commentary, NBC, Eurosport Russian & British Commentary

Note to all: I'll be keeping the files in mediafire for quite some time, please feel free to PM me if any of the above link no longer works (in case mediafire deletes them), I'll just update the new uploaded link on this post again.

Thanks! That works for me. For some reason even when I was logged in the main link just redirected me back to my own account. Thanks again for sharing!

I don't think anybody is too good for any competiton. But from athletes perspective, i dont see any value in the team challenge cup other than the prize money. The TCC doesn't have the pressure of a "real" competition, so it doesn't allow skaters to perform under pressure. I see more value in senior B's than TCC. At least in senior b's, skaters can test their programs in competition pressure even though the pressure is not as high as A level competition and the skaters are lower ranked skaters.

The TCC is more like an ice show. But skaters don't need to perform competitive programs in ice shows, so it's physically less demanding. Ice shows also happen in off season. Skaters would have their new programs choreographed. So ice shows can also be good practice for new programs. Tcc is good for fans, but really doesn't provide much value for the athletes.

There is a reason why skaters (especially top skaters) don't want to participate in wtt, especially after a long season. I don't think skaters have an obligation to service the fans after a long season either. NA fans can see yuzuru at the world championship in Boston

My concern with the Team Challenge Cup is the timing....next year Japan's SOI shows are pushed back from January to April. Not sure if Yuzuru will participate in any of the SOI shows next year, he was not in any SOI shows last year but he was in some of the shows from 2010 to 2014.

And also, he will be starting his last year of university in April (I believe the academic year begins in April for universities in Japan?). Given there are news reports that he sometimes only gets 2 hours of sleep catching up with his homework, last thing I want is for him to get burn out trying to manage between competitions, ice shows, school work and other obligations. Don't forget, he is a full time student and a full time athlete!!!

Of course, as we saw from his latest interviews he mentioned the importance of a healthy body, so I will trust that his team and himself will make the most appropriate decision as to what events he will participate (well, at least when that decision is within their control). :)

I agree, it's unfortunate the North America broadcast rarely shows the SP programs. So it is a nice surprise that NBC showed his SP at both the NHK and GPF performances!

And how about Universal HD doing TWO commentaries of his SP! What a treat. They know he's special.

I was impressed NBC lead with his GPF short right at the start of their coverage. It went right from snowboarding to Yuzu's SP then they put the opening credits and Johnny, Tara and Terry's introduction after his short. They were clearly trying to catch the interest of the snowboarding viewers to keep them watching.

They also showed a very funny shot of Yuzu and Javi warming up backstage about half way through the coverage. I hope someone made a gif of it.

Looks like he still has enough fuel in the tank to do it 3 times in a row. I don't have expectation about it, but let's see

He drew #22. So he will be 4th in the 2nd to last group! If I recall correctly, he had the same number last year?

Clips of him during official practice. Run through looks great, very solid.

I expect his performances at national to be similar to nhk and gpf. That seems to be his pattern. He is now aware that his body is not at peak conditions after national. So I think he will adjust his training after national. I wondered if intensive training after national when his body is not in peak conditions makes him more vulnerable to injuries. He has had injuries after nationals every season for the past 4 seasons. There must be a reason for that.

Well, I don't remember the 2011-2012 season, but wasn't the rest of the years because of lack of training time? And then he overworked himself to make up for the lost time and injured himself.
He got the flu after 4 CC 2013 and suspended training, then pushed himself and sprained his ankle. After Sochi, his schedule got packed and limited his training time for Worlds, and he injured himself. And last season, after the surgery, he wanted to add the 3rd quad and also had limited time so he got injured again.
