My favorite surprise: Mura had the cleanest short! Also Shoma but some of his landings were shaky. Regardless, congrats to both for clean shorts! Well deserved 2-3.
Yuzu fell on the 4S but still delivered a stellar performance regardless. Falling on the 4S is better than falling on the 4T-3T because he can't save the combo if he does, and he skated like there wasn't a fall at all. Congrats! I know he's been under so much pressure to perform to the gold standards he set at both NHK and GPF, but I hope this comp becomes a reminder for him to take it easy... As Brian said, he's only human. To skate perfectly is great, but what we, the fans, want to see is him just skate beautifully, happily, and healthily. Afterall, we only have until 2018 to appreciate his skating competitively.
I hope the fall lets him ease out the tension for the Free and deliver a performance he's satisfied with! <3
Congrats to Dice and Taka too for good performances! Dice only had a 3Lz-2T but I think he received a higher score than at SC? Am I correct? He's a lovely skater, and that 4S was a beauty! Taka too seemed to fight for his performance and it's good to see considering how his season had been going! I don't see Dice on the podium with the 10 points Mura has on him, but he could still make a case for 4CC if Yuzu and/or Shoma don't attend.
Now that I look at the list, it seems like Sota could still manage a top 10 finish if he's clean in the Free (he hasn't been clean with his current layout but if he does do it, he'd push some skaters lower with 2 4Ts and 2 3As).
Once again, congrats to the top 3! Hopefully we get a cleaner Free from the men.
I wasn't expecting podium for him, it's too early for him in Nationals, but still a top 6... I hope he'll have a great comeback for the FP.
