Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

For the past few weeks I think we've all had a sense of the pressure Yuzuru feels he is under, but personally today seriously got to me. When he said 'I think I have to do everything...I have to do everything perfect' you could see he has so much on his mind. He doesn't go to skate like 'Oh well let's see what I can do' he goes out demanding perfection and anything less isn't enough. That's a heavy burden to carry and I feel bad :(

Especially when he did really well today!!!!! First place in the short with a beautiful performance! It's easy to say he shouldn't be so hard on himself, but I hope Brian can work with him to lessen the stress of being the best.

I think he will be fine. No worries.

I'm pretty sure after Brian said 'You don't have to be perfect every time' Yuzuru said 'But...' and Brian said 'Boston, yes' as in at Worlds he should be perfect.

We are all little Hercule Poirots trying to piece the puzzles together!

He said so! He said it was horribly uncomfortable to do a sit-spin.

IIRC from a post by Specs some time ago, something like a dance belt. Specs also mentioned that Takeshi Honda said he wore a thong during competitions. :o:

Ahaha.. very informative, guys. :o:

I think tomorrow will be a different day and sure Yuzu will come back strong and will make sure he's got everything prepared. Let's hope for the best!

TO THOSE DISAPPOINTED ABOUT YUZU'S FALL, I'D LIKE TO ASK THEM
"Should we go back to zero for the Quad Sal?"

I think folks generally share Yuzu's disappointment. As he said, he wants to be perfect. It's not realistic, of course, but that is what he always tries to achieve.

I cannot be disappointed when he still managed such a lead over other skaters who skated a clean program. I'm actually kind of relieved to see he hasn't suddenly become a flawless martian or something. I'll save my worries and fears for the day when it actually matters... like tomorrow. :agree:

I finally watched the SP!
Look at how quick he got back on his feet after the fall and right into spread eagle! :agree: (blink and you'd miss the fall!)
I think it's still a beautiful performance.. :agree2:

Here's what I can hear from their conversation.
(after the score)
B: very good! ... whoa that's fast.. how that works? it's pretty fast. Nice job!
Y: I think.. I think I was too much.. confident.. (have too much confidence) before the.. (couldn't hear)
B: I don't know about you but were you less nervous today?
Y: No.. (B: still nervous?) Yea.. I was nervous.
B: Confidence is good. It's about confidence.. (not sure about the second part) (Y: but..) The warm up is ... (couldn't hear but I think it's something positive because of this next sentence -->) you're very calm.
Y: But.. I think I have to be more.. I should be more.. (couldn't hear) I have to focus on the each, each element. I think I have to, like, I was thinking about, I have to do.. I have to do everything. I have to do perfect.
B: You don't have to be perfect. (Y: Yea) I mean.. this is 102 (?), this is for real (for you?). You deserve that. (Y: *tired* ok) Because now.. (couldn't hear aack) So.. you're human (Y: *nods*). That's, the time of the year, it's, this is ok (Y: *nods*).
You don't have to be perfect every time (Y: *nods*).
Y: But I have to do.. (B: In Boston, yes?) Yes. (B: Right?) Right.. (B: Boston, yes.) But I think (LOOL Yuzu has so many 'buts') I was.. I'm really tired, before.. I feel tired before the, this competition. I have to be more prepared (?) for the... *ok they stood up and started to leave the K&C

Bonus: Brian's laugh after that shirt (?) landed on Yuzu's head.

Oh wow ok I'm getting dizzy now. Yuzu repeated his words pretty often but that actually kinda helped in transcribing (while watching it) haha. And he has so many 'but's but I love that Brian is so understanding and patient to him. Also, he looked serious and sincere in comforting and letting Yuzu knows that he doesn't need to be perfect all the time and that it's completely normal/human. I just love that. Brian understands Yuzu's thought but he tried anyway, to emphasize that it really IS ok.. and think he needs to hear it too.

Let's hope he'll be able to get the needed rest and be ready for the free!
Btw I don't think we need to worry about the 4S today's just a little glitch and we can still trust the 4S!

Isn't it funny how we got from "oh, look, a clean quad sal " to "oh no...a fall on the quad sal :drama:" in less than a year?

You know, his quad Sal this time was like:

4Sal: So did you sleep last night (Desdemona) Yuzuru?
Yuzu: *rotating the quad Sal* Kuso...
4Sal: *changing the Sal axe* Bad boy!
Yuzu: *falling* Ouch! *standing up into a spread eagle "I'm gonna kill you quad Sal!"

Woah! How did you do that? Do you lip-read?

You deserve 330 points! :yahoo:

Hahahaha that's true. I thought if he were to make a mistake on his SP it was going to be the quad combo

Yeah, I have no worries about his performance and its beautiful and I love it..
But seeing him being hard on himself is tough for me:sad21:.. He sets the bar high and is truly perfectionist.
I really hope he can achieve what he wants tomorrow!

Thanks! Yeah, this performance is beautiful!
About his comeback after the fall, long ago, kart sometimes pointed out that he tended to take too time to recover from falls. But now he's quick!..:agree:.

I have no worries after this either. I think it's a good thing that will help take that burden of perfection off of his shoulders, because yes, it's a burden. No one can be perfect all the time, the energy used to try to sustain that is very consuming mentally (which takes its toll physically), so this takes him back down to earth and he doesn't have to worry about staying perfect anymore. If it had to happen anywhere, this is the perfect place and time. I hope he does a decent long, with maybe an error here and there. Then, after some relaxation at home over the next few weeks, he can go back to hard training for Boston and peaking there.

Guys, I have a confession to make:

After watching the live streaming of the men SP and watching countless Yuzuru's Lotte advertisement, I went to the local hyper mart and what do you know, they have a Japanese grocery fair. And I bought:

1. Lotte Ghana Extra Cacao
2. Lotte chocolate thingy

Both are like some biscuits with liquid chocolate filling.

Unfortunately there was no Ghana Milk Chocolate. And nothing has Yuzuru's face on it.
