Yulia Lipnitskaya

Wow. Thank you Sam for the good analysis. You must have spent lots of time doing it!

One can expect positive outcome only when a skater and her coach communicate well. Now is the time to buy in Yulia-Alexei shares. :p

I can't wait to watch the program on my laptop tomorrow when I can watch on a big screen ( that's if I can contain myself that long ) :) When I looked up the results this morning I could believe it when I thought I saw her name in 3rd. The page wouldnt translate so I went to the competition thread and jumped for joy. I was not sure what to think of the coaching and location change but was hoping it would help her in whatever way she needed and I'm so glad she's got her spark back. I could always see it even with the problems but it so amazing to see her truly happy after a skate again. In pictures her joy was already infectious enough so I'm sure that when I watch the video I will be overcome.

Edit: Couldn't resist watching it. I was laughing and crying and grinning like a maniac through the whole performance. I loved that program. She is jumping higher isn't she? as at least one person on here commented. I though it was amazing to see her hand position on the layback spin during the replay and it looks like the change on the combo spin while breathing a breath of fresh air into that spin also enabled her to get 1.5 in GOE unlike this fall where the changes in rules led to judges being stingy with GOE. The only problem was the ! on the Lz. Without that she would probably have scored about 75-76, right? Does anyone know if was actually unclear or if it was close enough that she should have gotten the benefit of the doubt?

Tarasova also said that "she is loved and cared for around the clock. In Sochi all the conditions are made available for her to train, to work. Alexei is with her all day."

Tarasova: 'Yulia made me happy, I was on cloud 9 from what I've seen! I love it so much when skaters start to believe in themself again, when they stand on their 'Olympic feet' again. Yulia had a difficult period in her life, but she's found what she was looking for. She and Alexei fit each other, they work on sport 'anger' and on strength of her will. I cheer for Yulia. The stars like her should NOT fall from the sky. And she is a real star!'

I am SO happy Tarasova is happy with Yulia. She was at her practices regularly, so she knows what she's talking about :)

Yubaba is so obviously happy LOL 😃😀 I bet she played a part in the coach transition, her dislike for Eteri's methods was never much of a secret.

I am in such a joy from Yulia's performance in the sp. She looks like she is so happy and super confident like she was 2 years ago. I believe her jumps look even better! I love your happy reactions in this thread!

Hmmm.. really? I didn't get that impression from her commentary. She said only nice words about Tutberidze yesterday :scratch2:

Apparently the decision to continue the skating career was at least partly based on the results of that medical examination. Vaits implies that Yulia has a very unique physiology, but that could just be her pumping the intrigue.

hmm, well, not sure if thats a good thing but she seems to be okay with it!

Of course it's a good thing. Probably not very good translation. That means she had great reserves in her (muscles, bones) and very fast recovering.

This is mostly veiled, but slips through if you listen carefully. For example, commenting o Taurskaya's skate on GPF, about Eteri's group results oriented approach, she said something like "if not one, than another, if not another, than yet another one", and not in a flattering tone too. Also, her constant hints before transition to Urmanov, that Yulia needs a more personal approach.

Thank you all for the translation of Tarasova's comments. Honestly I didn't expect this great support from her, I'm even more happy now :)

This programme was definitely a boost of confidence for her (and us :p ), whatever the final result will be.

I'm curious - are the protocols already up somewhere? I think the lutz edge looked ok, but the TV camera angle wasn't very good. But definitely no "e". I would have given her the benefit of the doubt, but one could argue that I'm biased.

COuldn't write anything yesterday. Such an emotion skate from Yulia:luv17: And also I'd like to add some good observation from one person, who also watched Yulia skate - Zoeva's version was more about music. And the skater just went with it. And Urmanov's program is more about Yulia herself:) It lets us SEE the skater. Thinking about it, I agree. Good luck to her, hope for high placement.

I'm guessing it has something to do with metabolism and/or immune system? Considering she's been going through puberty/growth spurt and the fact that she's a trained athlete.

IceAlisa on FS did the translation and it was very interesting. The part that I was asking about:

During summer training, the skater was examined in one of the best private clinics. Even given that at the time her psychological state left a lot to be desired, the specialists had concluded that the physical reserves of her body were tremendous. It wasn't just the structure of her muscles and joints but also her speed of recovery, the ability to receive and process information, the stability of her nervous system, etc. After this, team Yulia had made the decision to continue skating and to pursue significant goals. And this had brought about the final decision to change coaches. It was obvious that her previous coach was unable to give her anything more. And it was obvious to Yulia herself.

I put the ESPN version of the Nationals SP on DailyMotion since Youtube is blocking the audio for me:

Thank you so much sabinefire. :thumbsup:I was hoping you do that because I couldn't hear the audio on youtube yesterday.
